This is a great place for real yoga with ropes, and they are super friendly and nice.

I have been introduced to MelMarie Yoga by the Alamo Head Injury Support Group... Yoga for Brain…read moreInjury Recovery. Free Yoga? I couldn't pass it up! Love Your Brain .org is sponsoring a free program across the country for survivors and their caretakers to attend a six week yoga program which consists of an hour of yoga stretches, breathwork, meditation with 30 minutes of group sharing about our experiences dealing with brain injuries. Our instructors are very generous, kind and compassionate. They take time out of their busy schedules to share a couple of hours a week with us as they also have some type of connection to someone with a brain injury. They understand that Yoga can help survivors as well as their families and have opened their lives to bring us together weekly. The studio space is cute and quaint. I believe 10 would be the max number for a class. It's a little tough to find the studio as there are really no signs facing the parking the lot... their studio sign actually faces towards Pam's Patio Kitchen... so it's tucked back in that corner of the shopping center. Parking is challenging as the lot is on a hill... few spaces are available close to the building so plan to park away and huff it up the hill. Also the parking spaces are really tight, I just hate parking so close to another car because you know you'll come back to another ding in your door. Parking is full during lunch time, Pam's brings in a crowd. It's truly been a blessing to have the ladies of MelMaria Yoga come into our lives.

This is my first, but not last, experience with yoga therapy and Eva. She is an awesome yoga therapist and has a background in nursing, as well as her yoga expertise. This gave me confidence in her assistance with a very painful, debilitating back injury. I am so grateful for this resource.

Popped in for some yoga while I was in town for Christmas…read more.... My bf and I wanted to introduce his mom to yoga as a Christmas gift....you know the kind of gift that keeps on giving :) She's never done yoga before....(I'm a yoga instructor and my bf is intermediate/advanced).......and we thought it would be nice to actually take her to a class so she would feel more comfortable and know what to expect. We chose this studio after looking at a couple of different ones in the area on-line......it looked the most professional and from the bios on-line, the instructors were the most experienced. Since it was over the holidays.....class schedule was limited.....and the only reasonable option was the Beginner Flow class on Saturday.....so off we went to get all bendy stretchy.... Cute little one room studio.....I spied a couple of changing rooms in the back.....and there is of course a bench to sit down and remove shoes, store personal items etc...Mats, props and blankets were all available for student use. They only open the studio about 5 minutes before a class starts.....which on the day we were there caused a back-up of students signing-in, paying & filling out paper work so class started a little bit late and there obviously wasn't any time to stretch out and relax before class. As for the actual class.....I thought it had a nice flow.....and the instructor was very sweet but I wouldn't say that this was a good class for beginners. There was a lot of standing poses and a lot of backbending which is fine if you're going to give a modified option for beginners/level 1 students but in this case there wasn't. The other thing that I thought was really uncool was that the instructor kept calling out my bf's mom in class and verbally correcting her by name loudly enough for the whole class to hear.....again, appreciate the help.....but when you have a student in class that is new to yoga they already feel a little bit awkward and bringing attention to that doesn't really help. After class both the instructor and the owner were extremely nice and spent time with my bf's mom to speak to her about her issues and help her feel more comfortable.....which I really appreciated. They ended up recommending a couple of class options that would be more on par with her ability and we ended up buying her a class package to use. Overall.....I think this is a good option for yoga in San Antonio.....and I will be back on my next visit to try some of the more advanced classes......
