I haven't done yoga in about three years. I've had only a handful of kundalini classes in my life. I've missed it. Divine was a great re-introduction to my practice with a heavy emphasis on physically expressed personal spirituality. If you like the more earthy-crunchy woo-woo Aquarian stuff, kundalini may be a great fit. I felt right at home. On a more practical note, my incessant shoulder pain was made much more tolerable by the arm-heavy kria we did that day. They helped me rather a lot. It's enough movement to be a challenge while allowing room for a fat old man like me. read more

Feeling stressed and need a place to unwind? This place is Divine! They specialize in Kundalini Yoga, which is the yoga of awareness. It's transcendental! Our instructor, Amrit was chill the max. She led us through different poses, while playing different relaxing Indian songs on her iPod. Her soothing voice guided us along and reminded us to relax and feel the power in our own bodies. There's a lot of reminder to breathe and don't overdo it, which I need sometimes. They offer classes every day of the week. Some of them are even free- if you show up before dawn on Sunday mornings, they have a class to realign yourself with the universe. The setting is incredibly zen. Bamboo lines the yard, and the studio is in an old converted back house with wooden floors and an open design. At the end, Amrit bangs the gong, which somehow really does something for me. It doesn't take a behavioral expert to know I'm not the mellow kind of butterfly girl in a perpetual state of chill and happy. I'm a riot and a skeptic. And I've never practiced yoga or any form of meditation. I even get bored at spas. With that said, my experience at Divine Yoga was eye opening and humbling. Amrit and Jasmine were absolutely wonderful. The studio focuses on Kundalini Yoga, or "the yoga of awareness." Expect to do a lot of deep breathing (or breathing rhythmically and loudly,) holding long poses and an overwhelming urge to hug babies. While I didn't find Kundalini Yoga to be physically challenging, reaching the clarity of mind required to fully benefit from it takes practice and concentration. The attentive instructors guide you every step of the way and make sure you have everything you need to make your experience as comfortable as possible. I felt so relaxed and healthy after the class that it neutralized the road rage and heartburn I experienced earlier. read more

Luckily, I got a chance to preview this studio with Yelp. I've got to say, WOW! It was an incredible mind-opening experience. The studio is set in an amazing location, wooden floors and ceiling, windows overlooking bamboo trees. A tranquil environment which reminds me of home. The session itself was complete, the instructors provide amazing comfort and guidance through each movement. They walk and talk you through each motion at your comfort level. The vibe throughout the room was whole and felt amazing, great vibes! If you're a beginner to yoga, you're in for a treat! All courses and movements can be geared to any comfort level so do not be alarmed! Just breathe and everything else will follow. Highly recommend this studio for the maximum relaxation. Will return! read more

Divine Yoga - Vegetarian potluck - Yoga Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

Discovered this place with a Living Social coupon and it was exactly what I needed. I took my husband and we have been devoted yogis ever since. It really has changed our lives. The classes are always something new and the perfect amount of meditating and yoga, exactly what we need. I implement the breathing practices everyday at work and have begun to meditate daily. It's $15 for one class, please check it out! read more

Let's preface this review by saying I'm not a yoga expert. My wife talked me into signing us up for yoga classes a couple nights per week. Divine was running a pretty great (at least I was informed it was great) deal online for 8 sessions @ $65. We called a few times and had some issues coordinating with the instructor to buy the package but that's to be expected and wasn't a big deal. It finally works out that a couple days before the offer expires we make it to the studio as a class is finishing. Remember, it took some convincing on my wife's part to get me to sign on with this idea. Not because I have a personal dislike for yoga or the idea of it, but because I don't want to be the guy in the class that makes it awkward for all the ladies. So we're walking up to the studio and I'm a little nervous about what to expect because it looks serious. About 3-4 steps through the door we're abruptly shooed outside and told to take off our shoes. I'm immediately waffling on the yoga idea as we get outside because I thought I was getting stretchy yoga not die-hard yoga. After several awkward minutes on the feral cat porch my bride talks me into stripping the shoes and going back inside to the instructor perched upon the bed. We tell her we're here for the special and it's immediately clear she's not going to be selling it to us. She went into a spiel about it only being available for current customers, blah, blah, blah and that we couldn't buy it. I'm sure I was the problem in the situation. Between not shedding the shoes quicker and being the only guy there she probably didn't want to add me as a customer. As a business owner myself, it's no big deal and I get it. However, the deal was obviously advertised to the public, we were refused service, and I'm leaving a review because of it. read more

So sad to give this place one star but that's what they deserve. The teacher is not kind. She made me feel inferior and acted like I was not up to her perfect status. I love yoga and will gladly pay more to go elsewhere rather than be treated like I'm a peasant. read more

I enjoy and practice all types of yoga, but Kundalini is a wonderful yoga that has a nice balance between exercises and meditation. It offers so many benefits for both the mind and body. This studio is small, friendly and very inviting. The layouts with the gong are especially relaxing. I find myself using techniques taught here in my daily routine to help myself de-stress and refocus. Angela's classes are my favorite, but each instructor is unique so I would suggest you try them all until you find your favorite. read more

Had never done yoga before. Really loved the peaceful setting and easy to medium paces of the class.

Kundalini. Very good experience here! Will definitely go back. Wish I had enough money to practice at multiple studios. Cause if I did...

Shocked by how rude the instructor was. There were 4 minutes before the class started before she was willing to even offer me eye contact. When I told her I had purchased 20 sessions on Groupon and was having a hard time pulling it up, she told me to leave. Without money I wasn't welcome. How this instructor can promote peace is beyond me. Mercenaries. read more

As a long time yogi who recently moved back to Texas, I'm grateful to have found this studio. It is a healing and beautiful place. Kundalini is so much about the mind body spiritual connection and practicing with others in a sacred space is a gift. There are great specials twice. Year and also an intro Groupon offer for new clients. See you there. read more

Divine Yoga offers a haven for achieving health and healing! The studio itself is set in a grove of nature and inside the studio you will be greeted and taught by qualified and caring teachers in the science and technology of Kundalini Yoga. The environment is one of non-competition; only acceptance and experience suitable for all body types and physical abilities. Each class incorporates combinations of yogic asanas (postures/exercises), pranayam (breath styles), mantra (chanting out-loud or silently), and meditation (with specific focus or release; often with the resonance of the Gong). It's different! It works! I've been a student for over 4 years and I owe my improved quality of life and sense of "self" to the practise of Kundalini Yoga! Try it; you just might like it! read more

At this place they not only teach you Kundalini Yoga but also a way of life, you just have to want it and you'll be ready for it. A great example of the benefits, my success story if you will, is that I was having major problems with my boss to the point that I decided to quit and stared looking for another job which was sad 'cause it's an amazing job that I love, but I could not stand being yelled at every single day. To give you a clearer picture, there have been 7 people in my position in ONE year! and they've all quit for the same reason. While taking a class at Divine Yoga I heard of the group meditation they do the 2nd Sunday every of the month at 4:30 AM, and yes, the hour sounded crazy to me too, but I thought "being part of a group of well-intentioned people, all praying, chanting, and being one with each other, MUST be super powerful" so I went, and I absolutely loved it, so much so that I've participated in two more since. Anyway, the very next day my boss had another one of her tantrums and started yelling at me, but this time my mind was so clear that I realized she could ONLY have that power over me if I gave it to her; she could not take my peace if I didn't allow it, and I was simply not going to allow it anymore; so I took a deep slow breath, connected with my higher self, and proceeded to tell her -in a very calm voice and with non-threating body language- exactly how felt, and that it was time for us to part ways with no hard feelings. To my surprise, she told me she actually did respect me and asked me not to go, and like I said I was so surprised at that reaction that I accepted, and ever since we've had a wonderful relationship. I give credit of this to Divine Yoga because it was their amazing teachers who taught me the tools to find peace and create my own perfect reality, so how could I not give them 5 stars? I'd give them more if I could. Give yourself this great gift and take one class, you'll be glad you did. read more

I've stumbled upon Amrit's Kundalini yoga class at SAC, I'm a full time student and her classes have been a wonderful stress reliever for me. She teaches techniques that can help you deal with stress, anxiety, irregularities and depression and many other things. She is so gracious and inviting. Her studio is so beautiful, so please take off your shoes before you go inside. After class, Amrit was so kind enough to offer yogi tea and cookies and even showed a friend and I around her Divine studio. Kundalini yoga is more of a meditative yoga, which helps balance the mind, body and soul. More beneficial than any other yoga, I believe. The prices are great and if you become a member you get even better deals. Namasté! read more

Coming into the Divine Yoga studio as a beginner, I was a little unsure what to expect. Though I practice yoga on my own (pop yoga, if you will), I have never taken a class, and I am so glad that I can't say this anymore. I needed to exercise more, I needed to start meditating routinely and I am always looking for enlightenment. I found it at Divine Yoga. It's not what I expected... it's so much more. I have been practicing yoga for over 10 years and this is by far one of the friendliest and most welcoming studios I have visited. They foster such an open and inviting atmosphere. The classes are physical and challenging, but the teachers are great about offering modifications and walking students through each set. The yoga is a wonderful mesh of physical sets of exercises and meditative challenges. I leave feeling refreshed and invigorated (and sometimes sore the next day). =0) read more

I have attended prenatal yoga at Devine Yoga with both of my pregnancies. The cost is reasonable, and the teachers, very attentive. Classes always start on time, and the yoga practiced (kundalini) is very relaxing and meditative. The facility is very pleasant--there is a beautiful garden to look at as you walk up, the practice room is spacious and always a comfortable temperature, and the layout of the room is aesthetically pleasing. Since practicing Kundalini Yoga at Divine Yoga I have found that it has accelerated life changes I've been seeking. It was a blessing for me to find this tucked away gem because it offers so much more than I expected or experienced in other Yoga practices. Kundalini Yoga at Divine Yoga addresses all aspects of ones being. I find Amrit, co-director, to be extremely knowledgeable, highly experienced and intuitively sensitive to the needs of the students, and she teaches and freely shares with the intention to assist in ones personal practice, understanding and healing. I appreciate her faithfulness in keeping and sharing the integrity of the teachings as taught by its founder.
