While visiting San Antonio for the week, I had the great pleasure of continuing my practice on the mat at Synergy Studio. I'm so grateful for their diverse schedule of classes, kind and intentionally led classes and easy of registering by utilizing class passes. Gil is a solid vinyasa flow facilitator with his calm demeanor and knowledge of alignment and breath work being integrated with each asana. Denise played the most beautiful singing bowls during a combo gentle flow and restorative- what an amazing treat. Don't worry if you don't have your mat, they've got you covered. I learned yoga at Synergy Studios and it built me up so that I could do the heavy garden I love. Then came COVID and a serious stroke for me. I was 84 and paralyzed on my left side. I signed up for the aerial yoga class after personally talking with the instructor. I'm a first time yoga student and we discussed how this class was ideal for a beginner due to the level of instruction and the extra support from the silks. The class was awful. First, the class flow consisted of her calling out the names of the poses without really describing what goes where, or where you're supposed to be feeling things. This was fine for the other students, because they weren't beginners. I languished, making darting glances at what everyone else was doing and trying to figure it out. Not a beginner class at all. The silks are waaaaaaay too close together. It felt more like a kung fu class as people joked and apologized about kicking one another. Not fun at all. Not good instruction. I honestly got better instruction from watching YouTube videos, using the bathroom mirror to correct my poses. I got zero feedback during my sad panda attempts to keep up with the other students. I'm blowing off the rest of the class and flushing the money. I'll just do YouTube and see what happens. Thanks for nothing Synergy. In short, if you're a beginner. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. You know you've had a good workout when the day after it hurts to laugh, it hurts to walk up or down stairs, and it hurts to, um, squat. You know it's been a good workout when the muscles hiding under your SA 20 (not to be confused with the freshman 15) are suddenly activated and on fiya! For all of the gym types that think pilates and yoga are just 'stretching', I'd like to invite you to a pilates class with Mark or a hot yoga session and we will enjoy the sounds of our internal and external screams together. I can't wait to go back! The studio- clean and professional The classes-partner yoga was offered but isn't anymore (boo!). That class will change your life! As stated earlier, I will return for more pilates classes in hopes of seeing my core again. Other yoga classes offer a variety of levels and have always been an enjoyable experience. This is my favorite yoga studio! It is in a great location, the Pearl District with wonderful restaurants all around it and quick access to the Riverwalk if you want to go for a walk/run after class. We've moved around quite a bit with the military, and I've tried many other studios...this is by far my favorite - I love the atmosphere, the ease of the computer system, and the variety of classes. They also have many other great services like massage therapy and yoga therapy. Rachel the massage therapist is incredible, you must schedule at least one session with her. read more

I have become a yoga believer. After many years of bad experiences with poor instructors, crowded classes, and snobby yogis, Synergy turned it all around. Yoga for Athletes is a great combination of stretching and flexibility work, but it is still strenuous enough to get a really good cardio workout in. Erin is truly amazing. She knows her stuff, and just wants to spread yoga knowledge and yoga love. I'm not a natural yogi by any means, and I always feel welcome and right at home when I go to class. Oh, and Erin has the best music playlists during her classes too. read more

I really enjoy Synergy Studios. It's located in the Pearl Brewery complex and it feels fresh and vibrant as both a yoga, Nia, dance and pilates studio. I've taken both yoga and Nia classes there. My favorite class is Kundalini with Robin on Tuesday nights. Some say that Kundalini doesn't have a lot of asanas. I beg to differ. There is a larger focus on mantras during practice, and I like the way I feel afterwards (my calves, not so much). The exercises invigorate me like nothing else. It's a great class for beginners or just people trying to break habitual patterns of movement. You'd be surprised with what you can come up with in live after a week or so of Kundalini. The Nia class is also a great mind-body-spirit workout. Just allowing myself to release and dance the hour away is fun and works well as a release. Kudos to Synergy. It's been almost two years since my review of my experience at The Synergy Studio, and while I haven't been back (and no longer travel to San Antonio for work), I did get a very diplomatic note from the instructor who's class I took apologizing for my less than stellar experience. Synergy Studio has had a profound affect on my inner peace, love, and overall physical health! You really can't lose by just checking it out, especially with ONE WEEK FREE!!!! One week is all you need to get you hooked. Nia will without a doubt revitalize your spirit and offer you a type of therapy that will linger throughout your day, week, months, so on. Jan teaches Monday mornings: this class is primarily older women, which is beautiful if you want some uniting sisterhood! Jen teaches Tues mornings and will leave you feeling as sexy as you can imagine! Her classes are usually a nice mix of women all ages. If you want a REAL workout while having some fun, go to her Zumba class Wednesday mornings!! Try Kundalini with Robin... nothing like rolling around strecthing some days, to working your core the others, all while celebrating your beautiful soul!! Hmmm....just check out as many classes as you can!! I got lost the first time I went to check it out. It is literally under the Pearl Brewery Can. This place is a definition of healing! read more

So I seem to be doling out a lot of 5 *****s lately (not a swear, those are stars) - but it's because I keep having ridiculously great experiences, partly because I choose to go to places Yelpers review highly, and partly because I've been making an extra effort to get to know people that work at new places I go... in the case of Synergy, it is both of these things AND a great FRIGGEN yoga studio! I came on a Wednesday for Rose's Lunchtime Yoga... this is a great class for a beginner, someone who needs restorative yoga, or for someone who is out of touch with their ability to relax. She mixed humor and love into the hour long class, and I could feel my shoulder tension (due in part from stress and part from CrossFit) melting away. The room that the classes are held in is large, well ventilated, and has plenty of toys if you don't have your own!! I am going back today for Mat Pilates :) read more

I am fairly new to the whole holistic field thing and was a little nervous about trying this out, but SO glad I did. I love synergy and they make me feel so welcome. I am hooked to Nia classes (all the teachers say you cant really do anything wrong, just keep moving) and I like the range of yoga classes and will be trying out some new stuff as well. Also, new students who are in SA actually get a free week. And it really is free, no strings attached like I have experienced aty other places. It kind of gave me a chance to see what was up and try some new things without feeling like i wasted any money. It kind of freed me up to try something new and now I am for sure becoming hooked. I didn't run into ,my fear of snotty instructors and students. Everyone here is really friendly and encouraging. Its a great space and smells nice! I would def recomend trying synergy out. read more

Just one visit and I fell HARD. I am not incilned to do anything New Age-y/touchy feely- it generally makes me fart and laugh simultaneously. I was, however, looking for a new way to work out that didn't make me want to rip off the arms of the aerobics instructor and beat him/her to death with them. I live downtown and was searching for a studio offering something different and stumbled upon Synergy. The class selection is really cool- something for all you crunchy granola heads and even cynics like myself. I tried out Nia and loved it. Did I feel weird doing some of the touchy feely stuff? Yeah- I mean, I'm glad that no one I knew was there to see me flail and "fly" wildly about. What I did love though is that I did the whole session and didn't feel like dying but DEFINITELY felt sore. Beats the HELL out of boppin' around to Justin Bieber while a juice head screams at you. Synergy offers what's good for the mind, body and soul. read more

Poor customer service!!!! Not the studio for you if you value customer service. Rude receptionist at was argumentative and had to be right. Didn't even bother researching the issue I was having with registering online, just dismissed it with a rude comment " well, everyone else is able to register online, but OK". I will not only be going to this studio EVER, I will most certainly not recommend it. read more

Well I read all of the great reviews and I just don't know. I arrived early for the 10Am class. I was so excited because I am new to this yoga thing and really wanted to try this studio. So I walk in and there was a lady standing by the door. I didn't get greeted and she walked in to the side room and shut the door. Now maybe she didn't work there but I am new here and have no idea what to do. There was a sign in the desk and it said to please sign in but there was no sign in sheet. So I stood there for about five minutes and then just decided to leave. I don't know maybe I should have waited longer but it just put a bad taste in my mouth read more

I've been coming to Synergy for years, and I've followed them to the new location on Alamo St. Not only are there many, many classes to choose from, and a very generous never-expires policy on class passes, but the community is warm and welcoming, and I always leave feeling refreshed and renewed. Nia is my go-to, and it is a great place to check your inhibitions at the door and to dance. My 18-yo daughter comes for pilates and loves it. Synergy Studio is pure MAGIC! Adelle Brownlee Brewer runs this place boy does she ever run it! The class selection is unparalleled to anywhere in town, with a range in classes from yoga to belly dancing. The NIA classes which Adelle and a few others teach are a healthy and fun way to get your cardio in, most times I don't even realize when an hour of dancing has gone by! The studio is spacious unlike the studios that I used to practice at in New York because of how spacious it is. read more

I just started classes at the Synergy Studio and have enjoyed both classes so far. The instructors are helpful and Adelle, the owner, is very welcoming and friendly. I have referred two friends already to join me for class. I love that you can choose to buy a certain number of classes in advance (with no expiration date) instead of purchasing by the week or by the month. I will definitely be back for more! read more

As a former 200RYT yoga teacher myself I am a bit particular about studios. Synergy is the best Studio in SA and has the most amazing community based from the joy that the owner and teachers create. I found the greatest personal coach here in Tara. I found my heart and joy in NIA with both Joanie and Adelle. I'm super new to dancing and these guys made me feel so welcome. The workshops are outstanding. I'll admit I've only done a touch of yoga since discovering how much I love to shake my body to a beat. But I have attended Tara's yoga classes and they are phenomenal. I wish this studio was in my hometown! I dropped in for a power yoga class while in town for business, and I am so happy I did! It was some of the best instruction I have received, and the class was challenging and fun. Plus I got a little acro yoga bonus at the end! :) I can't wait to come back. read more

I tried Synergy Studio on a groupon and will definitely be back. The instructors are good and knowledgeable. Great for all levels and a variety of classes to choose from. Also a variety of times for classes. My only negative comments would be that some of the classes started 10 minutes late and none of the classes I went to actually ended when the schedule said they were going to end. A class advertised as yoga for lunch is not a class you can go to on your lunch hour as it is not an hour as shown on the schedule. It went over by half an hour. Overall, I loved the classes, loved the instructors. But I know when I do make a class to go when I have an open schedule. I don't think they mind if you have to leave early, unlike other studios I have been to. I'm curious to check classes other than the yoga there. read more

I'm such a raving fan of this place. The ambience is exceedingly serene and the studio itself is by a large and beautiful window that, in the late afternoon, provides a well-lit space, accentuated by fairy lights above the mirror. Taking a class here is always good for the soul. Everyone is so welcoming and the class cards that you buy at this studio NEVER expire. So, for anyone with a busy schedule, this place is ideal. Classes range for all different kinds of interests, my personal favorite being Nia - slightly based in a dancing world and slightly based in a spiritual world, this class is so much fun and always leaves me feeling rejuvenated. I love a class you can laugh in and not feel the need to necessarily adhere to certain moves. Give a class a try! Since my business schedule has changed, I take 8 am Monday Nia Class with Jan and the Tuesday night 7:30 pm Gentle Yoga Flow class. I love both and sometimes manage to make it to the Wednesday night yoga class or a Saturday morning class. Synergy is a wonderful Yoga and dance studio. It is always very peaceful there. The only problem I have ever had is when the substitute teacher doesn't have a key to get in in the morning. Otherwise, this place totally rocks! read more

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience at this tranquil and very beautiful studio - the most serene and soothing atmosphere I've encountered at any studio (and I've been at this for 16 years) - so inviting and immaculately maintained! I called the night before a class (hatha/chair yoga) I was interested in for my mom (she has arthritis and has had sciatic pain) to take and whoever answered the phone said that between 8:50-9:10 (class was at 9:15) was a QUOTE "perfect" time to come as there was paperwork and payment/profile setup. We got there at 8:55 (by my phone time) and waiting inside as there was nobody at the front desk. After a couples mins a woman came out and asked if she could help us. I started to explain why we were there and she cut me off to say that the studio was closed and that she had forgotten to close the door. Then she began to say that she hated to run us out (recommending Local Coffee three times) to the coffee shop but that it was studio rules to keep the front door closed. Okay... well I can understand to an extent. If the studio was closed that should have been the first thing she said, not "can I help you". It was obviously not my fault that she had forgotten to lock the door but her tone and how much she kept telling us to go to the coffee shop made it sound to me like she was upset at us for being there. My mom did not like that and she decided against the class in the end. I was upset because I was so excited to take her there as it is hard to find a chair yoga class that isn't done at personal trainer prices for her. Two stars because I hope to convince her to go back and give the studio another try but seriously service was one star. When is a good time to show up?! Who knows because the woman never actually told me when the studio opened but did tell me twice that it was closed. read more

I enrolled in the Yoga Beginner's Series Workshop, which took place over 4 consecutive Saturdays during the month of June. I've been wanting to start yoga for years, but didn't want to feel lost walking into a class without any background knowledge. This was an incredible introduction to Yoga. We had different teachers over the course of the 4 Saturdays, introducing us to the principles of Yoga, and the different teaching styles of each instructor. I was HOOKED after the first class. Upon "graduating" from the beginner's series, I promptly purchased a 20 class card and have since also taken a Pilates Mat class. I'm going back for more today! The studio is lovely. Adelle, the ower, is approachable and welcoming. I enjoy the "vibe" of the Historic Pearl Brewery area immensely. I know there are studios closer to my house, but I just love the atmosphere, people, and classes at Synergy Studio. read more

Don't bother to expect a friendly welcome if you are new to this place and definitely over priced for the poor attitude from the owner, who doesn't hesitate to tell you she's "the owner". Nobody cares "Adelle" who owns a studio, we just want our money's worth and expect decent treatment, especially from the "owner". The Synergy Studio is such a cool place. I don't think I've ever been to a private studio that has offered such unique class options. Not only are the classes top notch with phenomenal masters for teachers but the workshops offered are also so unique. From tibetan bowls and gongs, African Dance workshops, belly dance workshops, to Introduction to Yoga classes. The Esther Vexler Yoga school is also in session every year. What a great place to exercise, find your inner peace. Nia is one of my favorite classes-Adelle and the other Nia teachers are so enthusiastic and joy filled. I leave class feeling lighter and ready to tackle anything. The Yoga classes help me find my center, and the african dance class gets my body moving. What a cool place. Beautiful, peaceful, calming.
