Went to the 5:30 p.m. Yogalates class last night and it was fantastic! Amy was a great instructor. She showed us how to make each pose more challenging and encouraged us to push ourselves, but not in an obnoxious way. Amy had lovely energy and I'd like to take more of her classes. The class was about 13-14 people at varying levels. The only down-side of last night's class was that the class after ours made a lot of noise in the waiting area as we were practicing and sort of rushed into the studio to grab spots as we were cleaning and rolling up our mats. A wonderful studio, suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners. The studio has a laid-back vibe and the teachers are all very friendly and helpful. Each class has its own feel and music so I would encourage those who are interested to try out a few to see what clicks. Classes can get crowded but I've never had a problem with stray arms or legs :) The day classes are always way less crowded than the evening ones, so try that if you have the flexibility. Yoga district is extremely affordable and I recommend them for those who want a welcoming and relaxed yoga experience. read more

Loved it and this is the most affordable place in the city. I have only had classes with Jasmine, who is one of the most positive teachers I have ever met. In small classes, we get to do fun stuff, like wall poses. Always fun and healthy, not commercialized at all. They also run a non-profit yoga outreach, bringing yoga to places such as prisons and hospitals and whatnot. I love to support an organization like that. read more

YD Dupont has been my yoga community for more than a year now. I love all the amazing teachers, the huge variety of classes and the nonprofit mission. YD will be my home studio for as long as I live in DC; I never practice anywhere else. (And the Dupont studio is only 4 flights up, contrary to what other Yelpers would have you believe. Four flights is not a lot of stairs for a reasonably fit person; if you have problems with stairs, check out the other studios at U Street or Bloomingdale.) YD is true to its nonprofit mission - drop ins are 10, multiclass passes are available for less than $9 per class, and I pay $77/mo for unlimited yoga - and since I'm a nonprofit employee, they waived the initial $100 signup fee. So great. Beginners should check out Bethany's class at noon on Saturdays (or Paul's class at the U Street studio on Saturday afternoon). Looking for a challenge? Any level 2-3 class will leave you dripping with sweat and beaming with joy. Want to share yoga with communities that don't usually have access to it? Volunteer with or donate to YogaActivist, YD's sister organization. And with 2 new studios open, bringing YD to a total of 5 locations, it just gets better and better. I love this place! Personally I go to the one on 14th street and I love the set up, mission, and the cost. The teachers are all very different but all extremely good. They are all about your personal practice so there doesn't seem to be a lot of competition among the students. Love it! read more

I like this location. The space is airy and very tranquil. The receptionist was warm and efficient. The class participants also seemed pretty chill. You Get what you pay for, Great Yoga at a price we all can afford. Lets be honest people this is yoga not hand bags, so the idea you need to pay more for a better class is really silly and well if you feel that way i hope you are enjoying your view from your Ivory tower. But really Yoga should be made accessible to everyone both through price and styles and thats what Yoga District does. beyond the price is the fact that they offer so many different types and levels that really anyone that wants to do yoga can find a class that fits them. want a workout try astanga, want to feel loved try hannah, want to just feel great try paul, and want to break it down try bethany. and not sure where to start, get the new student pass. its 3 classes for a week so you can try a few different things until you find the one you want. oh and they have 4 studios so buy a multi class pass and use it at any of their studios, so no more say its not convenient to get to a studio. read more

I really enjoyed the Sirsasana workshop with Christine F this past Saturday. As a teacher trainee, I thought her entire approach in the two hours was well planned. I'm glad we had introductions at the beginning to hear where we all are in our practice. I also appreciated her incorporation of the yamas as a way care for minds and bodies---break down expectations and let go of goals-- before the class began. Her flow sequencing before headstand practice was very well planned to find the mula bandha (without ever saying the word!) and engage it. We did many prep poses that required us to engage the mula bandha --so by the time we were working on sirsasana our bodies were more ready to go there! read more

Had a great first yoga flow class at Yoga District! I felt that Kat did a great job of guiding the class through the steps of each pose and reminded us to breath as well, through out the class. The movement was a great meditation for my day. I recommend bringing a hand towel to use during and after the class. Water is also essential. I attended the Yoga Flow 1-2 level. read more

I feel some kind of way for not writing a complete review, but I really don't want a bunch of ya'll up in my class; it's already full enough. I did not take to yoga the first couple of times I tried it and I found that it really depends on the teacher. Turns out, I love it! I love it so much, I don't care about the five flights of stairs it takes to get to the studio... no elevator. Ugh... to narrow it down for you, I take a class after work a couple times a week... Anyway, overall the space is kind of small but somehow there is enough for everyone. I strongly suggest you change before you get there. The bathroom is tiny and the stalls even tinier. My class always starts and finishes on time, and the front desk volunteers are friendly. There are many different kinds of classes here and I suggest you check the description of the class. I signed up for a workshop (I St.) that I was not qualified for. So really pay attention to that! It's also nice and convenient that you can cancel 90 minutes in advance. I happened to forget my yoga clothes a couple of times and had to cancel. Give yoga district a chance! You won't be sorry. read more

I love YD and really don't like going to yoga anywhere else. The instructors are fantastic, I really have yet to find one that I don't like (special shout-outs to Michelle, Alicia, Paul, and Kat). The only downside is the bikram studio in the same building - YD is at the top of the 5 story building, and passing by 2 floors of bikram on the way there is almost always stinky. But the stink stays in the hallway, so no worries! read more

Great community minded studio with a true mission. These guys go the extra mile. The make their financial info publicly available - I've never seen a yoga studio do that, including the local studio that supposedly has its own foundation (but no apparent accountability/transparency?). Love yoga for misfits and the range of NON-power/flow classes. For someone with a back injury these classes are my medicine. Please add more!! I've been searching for a studio since I moved to the area last summer and nothing quite fit the vibe and type of practice I was looking for, until I went to Yoga District. I took the Saturday morning Rocket class with Blythe and it was awesome. I felt equal parts comfortable enough even on my first class there to challenge myself and face a few fears. Blythe was knowledgeable, supportive, and funny. Give the Rocket class a try if you are looking to add more strength to your practice. Yoga District Dupont is a great place to do it! read more

Beware if you give them your email address. I frequently visit DC and used to take classes here (I won't anymore because of what follows). At my first visit, they asked for my email address, and I understood that they wanted it to send me information about the studio. But they recently sent me an email with a link to a very political article. When I objected to the use of my email for advocacy of a political agenda, I was informed that yoga is political, and that the studio would be doing fundraisers for "nonpartisan" organizations like moveon.org. Even the moveon.org website identifies MoveOn.org Political Action as "a federal political committee which primarily helps members elect candidates who reflect our values through a variety of activities aimed at influencing the outcome of the next election"! Just know you are buying more than yoga if you use this studio. read more

I really enjoyed my first yogalates class. I plan to attend regularly each week from now on -- yep, the fifth floor walk up location is a bit of a pre-workout workout, but that's fine with me! The studio is small, with little space to change, but it's also surprisingly airy. I look forward to more classes. Great deal! read more

Definitely the best yoga studio in DC. They offer a broad variety of classes of consistently good quality and at an affordable price. Teachers are generally very good, all have their personal and unique style, and classes are seldom crowded. They offer many different classes every day from early morning to late evening, and this is very convenient for those on a busy schedule. read more

Go there! The young turks of the DC yoga scene who are bringing $10 classes to the interns and other yogis in the city. Two locations on Dupont Circle and T at 14th, this is the the place to be. they are do-gooders (bringing yoga to prison; offering free meditation, etc) and non-profit, and you can really tell the difference between this studio and other for-profit studios. i've been to one on conn and one on 14th. prefer one on 14th b/c more space. highly recommend. read more

This studio is great for yogis on a budget...just $11 per class! I'm a big fan of Kat's early morning classes, Christina's Yogalates, and Paul's Sunday class. I do think the teachers are hit or miss though. If you find a time and teacher that works for you, it's a great place. But navigating the offerings to find your favorites can be difficult, especially since the class descriptions are very generic online. read more

The location is convenient if you live or work near Dupont, and the classes are primarily evening and weekend. I would give this studios 10 stars if I could. There's so much to love about Yoga District - not just the Dupont studio, but others around the various DC neighborhoods as well. A no-frills, down to earth yoga oasis, this place really made DC home for me. It's such an amazing community with fantastic, committed teachers, many of whom also volunteer through the Yoga Activist outreach program. The studio is committed to keeping yoga affordable, and unlike many of the other studios in DC, you can show up to class without dropping $100 bucks on a pair of leggings. I have been practicing for about 3 months consistently for the first time in my life and I have to give some credit to YD for making me feel so comfortable and welcome. Sure, I've been to one class where I really disliked the teacher but the rest of them were wonderful. The staff and teachers are so warm and positive. People generally do their own thing so there's no real intimidation. I have to give Paul a shout out--he's a spectacular, thoughtful, and attentive teacher. I love Yoga District! read more

I would urge people not to do business with this company. I went to a yoga class in 2015 and haven't been back since. However, in November 2016, the company sent me an email saying I had purchased a 2016 yoga class from them. I had not done so. It is somewhat unclear, but it seems like they may have billed me for something I did not purchase, failed to check on someone who is trying to steal my identity, or sent me someone else's credit card info via email. Twice, over a week period, I attempted to contact them via email to find out more information and try to resolve the matter. Calling them is pointless because they openly state that they don't take voice messages; not exactly great customer service. They ignored both of my emails. If you care about protecting your identity or your credit card info, then do not do business with Yoga District. Now, I'm going to have to call the police to investigate this, when it is possible I could have worked it out with Yoga District, if only they had contacted me. To make matters worse, you can't even report them to the Better Business Bureau in DC. The BBB appears to have no record of Yoga District. read more

Was able to attend two classes while in the city on business. Both the Yoga level one and Yogalates were great. The instructors were easy to follow! Asked if anyone had questions or special needs and they accommodated everyone in the class. Great value. Thought the level one class might not be enough of a challenge but I had a great workout and the more beginning level students in the class seemed to do fine as well. read more
