Loved this spot! The staff were super friendly and helpful (you are amazing Gigi!) and the yoga sculpt class was fire. The rooms are a little heated, so despite the 30 degree weather outside, the rooms were warm so you got limber really quickly. The sculpt class is a little faster pace than a typical yoga class but we're only in the city for 4 days so my husband wanted a spot to do some yoga while we were in town. He signed up for a free week and took 4 classes. I joined him for this one bc I'm not that into yoga but I had a blast! A great workout, nice space, helpful staff! If you live in DC or are looking for an in-and-out spot to take classes and be in your way, this is the place! The locker rooms are clean and organized and there are showers too! Try the free week and i guarantee you'll join up. We would totally sign up here if we were locals. read more

Monica is the best yoga teacher in DC. Awesome class! Awesome studio. So clean! Highly recommended. read more

I visited CorePower Yoga on Connecticut Ave, for a beginner yoga class. Abby was our instructor and she was great, she had a very calming voice and came around to give extra help to those who wanted it. I like that they give you one week of unlimited yoga, but parking at this location was a pain. I also feel like the pace was just a little bit fast for a true yoga newbie. Luckily I had done some yoga at home so I was somewhat familiar with the poses but I could see how someone could struggle to keep up. Overall, I think it was a great class and would be open to visiting again. read more

This was my first time visiting Corepower yoga. My colleague got two of us to go to Abby's C1 class. I signed up for the free week on their website and you can take any class at any studio, for free, for a week! For your first time, you also can rent a mat and a towel for free. If you have questions, they have a whole FAQs about the free week on their website. Parking was a headache. There are plenty of garages around, but who wants to pay for that. So I just got there early and took about ten- fifteen minutes to find street parking across from the studio. The metro is also in walking distance of the studio. Abby greeted us as we arrived and checked us all in. We went to the locker room/bathrooms which were pretty clean to put our things away. There were plenty of lockers and free locks available for your use. The studio was already warm (85 degrees to be exact) and kind of small. About 15 people were able to fit in the room comfortably but I still think more space would have been nice. There is another room which is bigger, I was told. Abby got right into class on time. Now this is only my second time doing yoga, so I did a lot of looking at other people but Abby was walking around to help with your poses. Once we did some repetitive moves, I was able to catch on but the instructions that were given, were kind of fast and took me a minute to catch on. I think the class was great and I definitely got my sweat on. I will definitely be back to corepower to finish out my free week. read more

For the most part the classes are good, however the facility could be better maintained. Part of their structure is to be heated classes, however the shower and locker room area are mediocre at best. The yoga sculpt class is an amazing workout. My problem with that class is that they turn the music so loud that you can't hear the instructor, and they are normally screaming. The loud music is nice to get you pumped up for the workout, but other studios like Barrys, PureBarre, Barre3 and Sweatbox all use microphones to help make sure students can follow along. My least favorite thing about this studio is that they are promoting a hot workout, but they don't promote cleaning your mats, blocks or weights. It feels very unsanitary. All the other studios in town have wipes available or spray to use. All CorePower has is water, so no one uses it. read more

Came here for a free birthday class. Love the firepower er workout. It really gets me sweating and leaves me sore the next day. This location was a little small and crowded, so I recommend getting there a little early. The room was hot, which made for a good yoga session. It looked like there was only one person staffing the studio. The front desk lady also taught the class and was a little late to start. read more

Wavered between a 3-4... good sweat (well it is hot yoga) and a fabulous way to stretch out and work on flexibility. The yoga sculpt class is great and definitely one of their harder classes. This uses heat, VERY light cardio and weight work. Definitely a challenge! C2 is also good for a more relaxing strength training. Don't get me wrong - I truly do enjoy my time in class and will continue working it into my schedule. However it is one of the places you're encouraged to push yourself. I know this is great for some people, but for myself personally I enjoy hands on work and motivation - why else would I be in a group fitness class! Little sense of community despite being a yoga practice. There's definitely an heir of pretension that I haven't found at most of my regular spots in DC (mostly from fellow yogis) Logistically I don't love that you can't pre-reserve online. Also the locker room is very cramped and stressful! But I guess that's city living - not make or break. I have faith in CPY so going to ride it out, but for cardio lovers like myself I don't recommend this as your primary form of work out. Namaste. read more

Today was my first visit to this location, and I loved it. Took C2 with Kia. It was her first class as a teacher, but I wouldn't have guessed it in a million years! She was poised, organized, and led a really interesting flow that was fun, challenging, and creative. The studio was clean and the facilities and shop were great. It's also really easy to get to between the Farragut North and DuPont stations on the Red Line. I highly recommend CPY! read more

I came for a CP2 class and really enjoyed the instructor and the class. I worked up an amazing sweat and definitely felt it the next day. Unfortunately, like other reviewers have noticed, it can get super crowded. Getting there early helps but there's nothing to be done if the space simply isn't there. I also felt like the instructor should have accommodated for the space more. I know a lot of corepower classes follow a "script" but it was ridiculous for her to ask us to do poses that put us past our mat when there isn't room to do so (I.e. stretching out fully or extending legs past the width of the mat). A lot of folks got poked or smacked because of this. It's a really great class so set your expectations right and get there early. read more

Another wonderful CPY location! I came here because I received a free class as part of a promo. Yaaaaaaas! Joy's Sculpt class was fantastic. It was a tough work out (I was definitely feeling it the next day!), the music was on point, and the nearly hour long class flew by. Mats and towels are available for purchase. Bobby pins, hair ties and locks are available at the front desk--they've thought of everything! Several reviewers commented on how full the classes are. Unlike some other studios you don't sign up for CPY classes in advance, and I was worried that this 4pm weekday afternoon class was going to be packed. I walked in just as class was starting, and I was able to get a spot in the back row where I had an unobstructed view of myself in the mirror and there was plenty of room to stretch my arms out to the sides. There was definitely room for a few more yoggies too! While I don't love Yoga enough to do it all the time -- not to mention how much this would cost -- DC is lucky to be home to several CPY locations. This one is definitely worth checking out! read more

One of the things I like about the DuPont downstairs location is that it is free from street sounds and also you don't hear the other studio (esp if there is a nearby Yoga Scupt class). The CityCenter location is nice because you have the feel of practicing in the middle of the city, however, if you take a class in the morning during sunrise, you get a pretty sharp sunburst sneaking through the gap between the screen and the top of the window. The Georgetown location is nice, however, you can definitely catch faint sounds of nearby yoga sculpt classes. Generally, location aside, the staff is always super nice, friendly, and welcoming :) read more

Great studio, great classes, and helpful instructors. I come in the middle of the day or off hours to avoid the rush at 5-6pm and find the "odd hours" classes excellent (only 5-6 people, lots of hands-on instruction). I love the model and always leave feeling upbeat and energized. The yogasculpt class took me by surprise once, it's really a cardio workout. C1 and C2 are excellent yoga classes with some core work. I'm pretty advanced, but still like taking C1 to work on fundamentals and push my core work. read more

I'm not going to be too harsh because I understand this is the business model and not this location, but I do think I should be honest. First, the good. Everyone is exceedingly nice and the space is clean. The classes are a challenging workout due to the hyper speed. Next, the critique. I've tried c1, c2 and sculpt now and I have to say there is not much yoga involved in any of them. Very basic poses in both c1 and c2 with no inversions and no feeling of advancement in practice. In sculpt, it's basically analogous to a spin yoga class: loud music, weights, and lots of sweat. Hardly a yoga experience. This particular location though is VERY crowded, probably because it is in the middle of downtown. But still, there should be a class size limit. Every inch of space was covered in mats and there was essentially no room to stretch which, in yoga class, is preferable. It was rather frazzling. I left feeling more stressed than when I got there. It's also like a sorority house with all the girls crowding into the bathroom at once before and after class and certainly a fend for yourself before you get trampled mentality is necessary. The space is nice, set up with merchandise like a lululemon, manduka and whatnot. Anyway, I am a bit surprised by how extremely popular this chain is given that it is a workout, not yoga. But hey I said the same about bikram and they're the ones laughing all the way to the bank. Anyway, just know what to expect and it'll be fine. they know their target demographic. read more

The studio is spanking new, the instructors are great, and there are tons of classes. Just like the sister locations scattered throughout washington metro, it's got a very cookie cutter feel and strong branding. The chain delivers on consistency and quality of classes. However, if im a monthly passholder, i would not like to see the exact same schedule every day. I prefer variety to my workouts and though no two classes are exactly alike and they rotate the instructors, I don't want to be limited to yoga 2 day in and day out if I can only work out at 6pm. This studio still needs to work out some kinks especially with overbooking for popular class times. On the plus side though is the lack of cancellation fees. For first time visitors, I recommend coming in at least 20 minutes early to sign up especially for the peak evening class times. read more

Came to visit a friend in DC and didn't want to halt my workout for a weeks. Signed up for the free week and both classes I took hot yoga fusion and yoga sculpt was nice. It doesn't model traditional yoga too much as the postures are limited but I loved yoga sculpt just because it was more my style of high paced weights and full body cardio kick/ high energy workout (in hot room.) I came here w my friend who's a certified bikram instructor and she very much enjoyed it as well. We describe it as a fun appetizing workout with the trendy music and very encouraging direction from the instructors. read more

Work brought me close to this location so I wanted to give it a try, particularly as neighbors seemed to undergo radical transformations after a month of so of practice. Very pleasantly surprised by extra clean changing and shower area, locks for lockers provided (yay! one less thing to carry or to forget) and warmed not just by the yoga but by the welcoming vibe. The yoga classes were good at my level but the more intensive power practices: oh my! Plan to work on the routines and plan for a bit of soreness. Humility helps. But in the long run, oh, is it worth it. read more

I really enjoy going to classes here at Corepower. I love the hot yoga classes they offer - especially Yoga Sculpt! Super friendly staff and great teachers. They really should consider capping some of the classes - it's not fun to do yoga with 2 inches of space between matches (no matter how much of a community you're trying to build). I do think the locker room needs help - it gets so cramped and crowded back there. They also really need to put numbers on the lockers so that everyone remembers where their bags are stored. read more

As much as I love Sculpt and CP's other DC studios, DuPont's weeknight classes are so packed you are guaranteed a sweaty foot in your mouth every move. I can't even do the stretches because they pack us in like sardines. read more

I know the brand doesn't do pre-class registration, but I really think an exception should be made for this studio-- or perhaps just for some particular class times. (6PM C2!) I've been lucky enough to never get turned away, but it's stressful to race to the studio after work to get a spot in a packed room. There isn't even enough room to do crunches without bumping elbows. I initially thought it was just a fluke-- I came to this studio for that class while the heat at Glover Park was broken, and I thought it was just crazy crowded because other people were doing the same thing. Then, I came again months later because Glover Park was doing an arm balance workshop and I wasn't feeling it. I was the last one to get a spot and I was 10 minutes early. It must be so frustrating for people who come to this location regularly. read more

I bought an unlimited membership and 2 weeks in I have really been enjoying it. The classes are usually full but not over capacity as it sounds like others have complained about. The locker rooms are small, but they do have showers and shampoos for you to use before heading to work (which you will need because you will be sweaty). I like the teachers get to choose their own music which syncs up with the different elements of class. It does feel a bit small though, and you do feel like you are in a basement... read more

I dropped in for a class while I was in DC on a business trip! I went to a 7:15 class with Simone and she was excellent! I enjoyed the C2 and highly recommend this place! It's clean and conveniently located! read more

I really like the yoga sculpt classes at this Corepower studio, and find that the class times are really convenient, especially when I'm working late. It's in a pretty central location, and the locker rooms are great if you need to shower after class. One complaint that I have specific to this studio would be the extremely cramped locker room, it's really difficult to maneuver around when the studio is busy. Additionally, the membership prices are pretty steep. read more

I actually like this Corepower studio, despite it being underground. The darker rooms make my practice more relaxing and intense. The retail section is big, there are 5 showers, and the locker rooms are private. The back studio is also decently sized. Just show up to class 15 minutes early and you won't have trouble finding a spot. read more

After all the hype, I was very excited to try CorePower. This location fit my schedule one Sunday evening. Staff was very nice. But I found the class very predictable - and kind of boring. A good yoga class gets you in the zone quickly and a good instructor reads the class. I noticed several people- including myself- kept checking watches. I am going to try it a few more times at different locations. But so far, very disappointing. read more

I love CorePower Yoga and this studio is right by my office, so it's the one I frequent the most. Unfortunately, it's also my least favorite studio in terms of design. It's all underground, so there's no natural light and it can be warm/cold depending on the season. It's primetime location also makes it VERY crowded at key times (you need to get there at least 20 minutes before the 5:45 sculpt class to snag a spot). The studio is run very well (I help out there and know the craziness behind the scenes) and everything runs smoothly despite some hiccups along the way that come as surprises. The instructors change often (reflecting the transient DC scene) but there are some that are longtime teachers and their classes are often the best, since they stray from the traditional CPY structure, incorporating their own flair into it. read more

I loved how energetic, and friendly (but tough) the instructors are, and the students are also all really kind and welcoming! The yoga sculpt class is brutal but refreshing- you leave feeling amazing, like you really utilized and worked every muscle I your body. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. After showing up for an 8:30 class at 8:28 to find the door locked, I stayed for the 9:00, only to be told at 9:05 that the instructor wasn't coming. Corepower, you are a joke. read more

So far big disappointment. Do not buy their voucher for LS or Groupon. Turns out they have another offer for like 11 dollars more. Thought the point was to buy a cheaper deal to try out the place? Well you're still going to pay the same price for the same voucher paid. What a rip off. It should be a 40 dollar voucher opposed to 79 when you will end up paying 90 anyway. read more

While CorePower has a lot of positives, I find that this location's negatives outweight the positives. Positives - fun, upbeat instructors (especially in the sculpt class), cleanliness of the facility, great location for workers around Dupont. Areas of improvement - 1.) Locker room - they are incredibly small. My main complaint is their locker sizes. For someone who likes to workout before work, the lockers won't fit a gym bag and briefcase. Most other facilities I've gone to (either a boutique studio like Soulcycle, or a fitness center like Vida) have full-size lockers. It makes it very difficult, if not impossible, to go before work (unless you bring 2 locks for 2 lockers). 2) Towels and yoga mats - they nickel and dime you. I am also a member of Vida, where I can get essentially the same yoga classes, included with my monthly membership (which is the cost of 4 classes at CorePower), and no charge for towels (unlimited) or mats. 3) Staff - I find the employees here to be a bit stuck up and rude. For example, I went in yesterday because I had left my jacket in the locker room. The lady at the front desk abruptly said, "Classes are full" as soon as I walked in. I explained to her that I left my jacket there. She responded with, "Well, the men's locker room has a lost and found, doesn't it? Would it make sense to look there?" That definitely rubbed me the wrong way, and it's not a way I would want to treat patrons of my business. read more

I've been to 4 core power studios in the DC area. The other studios keep their showers clean and always have tissue in stock at the end of the day for students who take the last class. This studio has dirty shower stalls and does not replace empty tissue boxes. read more

I am simply reviewing this location--not Core Power as an entity. I think its probably the dirtiest location I have visited in the DC. area. It smelled of wet dog as soon as I walked down the stairs--the floors were sticky as soon as you enter the studio. I felt like gagging. Also, is it necessary to pack so many people into a tiny studio? The instructor doesnt even have space to talk from one side to the other. I was really not impressed with this one and wanted out as soon as I walked in. Go to the City Center location. It is eons better. read more

So if I had written this review 2-months ago when the studio first opened it definitely wouldn't be 5-stars. This studio is in a prime location and because of the support beams in the middle was an adjustment in figuring out how many people could fit comfortably yet as a business still making the most of each of their classes. After a few weeks and (i'm sure numerous complaints) they began capping the class and also aiding in where people were placing their mats to ensure everyone had enough space and the class would be beneficial. I did a 3-month unlimited program from gilt and it was worth every single penny. If you want to go to a prime class (i.e. 5:45 on weekdays) definitely get there early if you are picky about where you are going to be placing your mat during the class but every time I go I get an incredible workout and would recommend this to any person I know. Special shoutout to Rebecca as she is one of my favorite instructors and always has such a great attitude and presence and really makes you want to work hard! read more

its a great yoga class, it just sometimes can be a bit $$ for my pocketbook.

I was a beginner at yoga when I started here at CorePower Yoga in Dupont Circle, and while I can still honestly claim to be at a beginner level, I've never felt more comfortable and at home beginning a new practice than I have when I attended classes here. It's completely intimidating to walk into a fitness class with which you have no previous experience, but those worries were gone within 2 minutes of starting my first class here. It's welcoming, comfortable, effective, and challenging at the same time. The instructors offer hands-on adjustments (which you can anonymously opt out of in the beginning of class) which will help you in furthering your practice, getting the most benefit out of the class, and avoiding injury. I never thought I would like yoga as a workout, but it's a really great exercise for mind and body, which sounds dopey, I know. You really do leave each class feeling physically challenged, and mentally rested. I would definitely go back. read more
