YO! Sushi Depending on what you have, you are charged by the colour of your plates. During January, the blue plate is priced at £2.70 (sale item) but they put a lot more food on the blue plates. The staff always seen friendly and very helpful. Basically, it's like Tapas but it's sushi instead.

DONT LIKE FISH? Then read on... Great ambiance in this store as you forget you are inside a shopping centre! If you have never tried Yo Sushi before, do it, I do not like fish which seems to be a misconception of a sushi bar. Instead I choose from the many chicken, duck or vegetarian dishes. The menu affords lots of pictures and a description of what is what and the staff are always happy to explain. Despite the belt whizzing around with what is what, you can order from the menu for the hot dish options at no extra cost, just the cost of the plate. (Different colours dictate price!) If you need the waiter push the '!Help' button on the table as your number then screams thru the store... Very funny! Enjoy... You will... Do look for deals like Blue Monday or it WILL be expensive!

Whilst trailing shops for beard oil (obviously), we decided to visit yo sushi for a blue Monday special. We rarely go to Yo sushi anymore because it's just too goddam expensive, but when those special blue dishes are only £2.70 a pop, it becomes much more reasonable. Due to our lack of contact with the yo sushi world for a while, things have definitely improved...so much so, I had to report back to the yelping nation. Not only has the menu become much more extensive since my last visit, but the quality has also been refined to a much higher standard. We had our usuals of salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, salmon skin roll (which is only £1.90) aubergine salad, nigiri selection, and duck gyoza (which are deep fried, so taste completely different to usual gyoza but are delicious in their own right) which were all fresh, with great quality, soft, tender fish which was delicious! We also opted for some newbies including the salmon and yuzu salsa tataki which can only be described as amazeballs! A definite must try if you haven't already. The tuna tataki and ponzu is also a yummy new addition. The bill still came in at around £20 per person, which I think is top whack, but because I enjoyed it so much, I will be back.... On a Monday.

The place is great if you get a boot table, quality is outstanding and gluten and dairy free friendly! They need to improve in service and loyalty customers scheme as theres none. Discounts are good so best to be a yo sushi friend I love this place!

My friend worked once for yo sushi and recommended me to have lunch in MCR. Venue: Open space but it's indoors (shopping mall), they have got little cute booths and loads of stools at the moving conveyor belt. Delicious sushi and you cannot say NO to sushi which is literally moving in front of you all the time while you're eating - it's quite clever because you easily get tempted ro try all their yummy sushi! You can order sushi and special orders as well - you have just got to wait for the waitress to walk by now and then. Had a good time but it was just average for me (however I did LOVE their gooey chocolate rice balls!)

11 plates. Not 13. Questionable ethics...

The food is classed as pan asian which is great as I love all asian food. However, the sushi, although very good, I feel it is slightly overpriced for what you get. The duck, especially at lunch, is amazing value though. Plenty for 2 to share. This is definitely a place to try out if you love asian food.

My first visit to Sakana and I was pleasantly surprised at how its interior looked (more so the delicious smells wafting over as you passed by their open kitchen). We were seated in a corner with decent views of the goings-on, and set about conquering the menu - the group was almost military in its tactics, dividing the menu's sections between ourselves to make sure we got to sample lots of different dishes. Three of us ordered a bottle of their house red (a Merlot) which was actually quite good - a bit on the peppery side but I really liked it. The food started to arrive after a bit of a wait, but we'd had some prawn crackers to whet our appetite. The sashimi platter that I ordered for us all to share was a bit disappointing (usual price £28 for 15 pieces). I can't think of anything else that was particularly underwhelming; the combo of orders was all rather good - but the highlights for me were the Taiwanese buns which you could have with shredded duck or pork belly (we ordered both). These were absolutely heavenly, for want of a better word. Service was friendly, if not a tad haphazard at times; it's definitely somewhere to consider for date night. That being said, you'd have to be happy 'flashing the cash' as I don't think it's worth the full price they'd ordinarily be charging diners.

Why 2 stars??? The sushi is premade and fridged, self serve. The soup was hot but pretty tasteless even with all the toppings. Just very disappointed with the food. I was looking for something quick, that's how I ended up here. Well, that's what I got, a quick effortless and tasteless food. Oh well, time foe my cruise! Gonna have to try something different after!

Forgoing that opportunity, myself and some colleagues returned two weeks later for a quick lunch and catch up. It's located in the old Samsi unit and it's a huge space, with lovely large floor to ceiling windows which let in lots of natural light (a nice change from the moody ambience of the likes of Artisan and Neighbourhood). Their array of salads and sushi can be found in the cooler units, along with their drinks selection, and hot pots can be ordered from the counter. They also have frozen yogurt which, come summer, I'm sure will be a much welcome addition to the area. Now, it's easy to feel overwhelmed in this situation; there's so much choice! Not wanting to hold up the busy lunch queue, I decided to pick up a chicken teriyaki rice salad, though the hot pots looks delicious. Staff were very efficient and worked well to keep the queue moving. You pick up your cutlery or chopsticks from a side unit, plus any additional sauces you may want, including hoisin and itsu's own hot sauce. These are also on the table if you eat in. We had a good experience and it was great to see the area so busy, a trend which will only continue with the opening of XYZ. However, their price point is enough to put me off returning - £5.99 for a salad which didn't fill me up, and roughly the same for a hot pot, simply seems too much. If you were to add snacks and a drink you could easily spend £10+. Somewhere to keep in mind for quick lunches in the future, but only near pay day.

Nine of us turned up for lunch on a miserably cold, wet day. The meal here was just about better than ok, but not at all near great; scrapes two stars against price paid. If I were invited back I wouldn't be looking forward to going again. The teppanyaki 'show' is almost non existent. We've been to dozens of these shows over years in USA and on cruises. The shows are usually highly entertaining with food portions tasty and generous. This place was lifeless in comparison so if it's the show that attracts you'll waste your time and a lot of money too. Customers are also being ripped - off. This is the biggest shock I had - although the cooking left much to be desired as it's not simply cooking that's essential: building and concentrating flavour and plating up tasty food is important and mostly missing here. My wife chose what was a mean - portioned duck spring roll starter at a stonking £8 - 75p in ingredients to make (see photo). It tasted ok but not super. I got a 1 star tempura seafood £9.5 starter. It was also quite poor, not generous, lukewarm and the tempura wasn't crispy light either. I do better/tastier at home. A £1 chicken breast becomes a £20 teppanyaki with the addition of some sliced fried potatoes, about 20 pence worth of potato and tasteless thin sliced vegetables, tipped from a plastic bag onto a hot plate (beansprouts/carrots/snow-peas) then steam cooked to limp, unappetising, served with a very small bowl of fried, long grain white rice; say about fifteen pence worth. The rice wasn't cooked in front of us but at the hot plate behind our 'chef'. My pitiful small portion of cheap rice was al mush rather than al dente, with lumps of starchy boiled rice still prominent (see photo). No second portion was offered. I opted for fillet steak main £26 for 4/5 ounces of raw meat; had I opted for sirloin it was £24 for 6/7 ounces. The meats were tasty and cooked as ordered. I chose the Sapporo peppercorn sauce. It was far and away the tastiest part of the whole meal by a distance (not a big challenge) but the 'chef' slightly burned the pepper sauce. My first 330ml ale choice at 7% wasn't available (£12.05 a pint) I got a 6% tasty amber ale (£10.32 a pint). The staff are polite and courteous. The atmosphere was surprisingly muted despite the fact that the restaurant was very busy ripping off lots of folks at one time.

I passed this place the other week (it's been there since mid August) Walking in reminded me of the large fridge section of boots or Eat. All the sushi here comes prepacked so its ideal for the quick takeout.. With a choice of udon soups on the top shelf, underneath they had individually wrapped handrolls, large sashimi boxes, salmon , chicken, dumplings and swordfish. As for the drinks I didn't see anything alcoholic..not even the likes of sake or asahi.. Choosing a stackful of boxes we opened them up to reveal our treasure. The first one was the seared swordfish, which is not the cheapest fish . Yet here I was eating massive chunks of it for £3.50 ODD. Next was the tuna and salmon sashimi box. I think this was the most expensive box,at £7 but the amount of sashimi it contained was amazing. Box number 3 exposed x3 salmon nigiri, x3 tuna Nigiri , x6 salmon California rolls and edamame beans . This was around the 6.50 Mark which again works out cheaper than £2 a plate for two pieces! Finally we fought over the salmon box, which held maki and nigiri for £3.50. This place gets its high rating mainly due to the ideology of it. Cracking concept, great value for money and convenient. I mean the decor is okay..although next time look at the ceiling in the toilet ...there is a camera..hopefully its no longer live... The service was also pleasant, a nice lady who asked if we prefered forks or chopsticks (which came with a tooth pick-) However the food will never be five star because everything is refrigerated which makes the rice not as palatable. The tuna is also the same grade that wasabi use..tasty but I'm sure it artificially dyed. So overall I would come back again for some sashimi and a hot soup..but I will not have the very ricey dishes.

It has a really great vibe and has been busy every time I've passed by - you really need to pick a bit of a quieter time for your first trip though as there is so much to choose from! It's all lined up on shelves like you would find at a supermarket, however the team are constantly bringing out boxes so you know what you're looking at is super fresh. I've tried two lunches there now - the first was Chicken Teriyaki Rice which they heat for you before you go. This was delicious with great flavour, although could have done with a little more chicken. Today I went with the Dumpling & Nudo King Prawn Sushi Rice Set. Again flavours were spot on, although there was no description of what was in the dumplings (I think veggies). I also tried the Jasmine Silver Needle Tea (£1.80) which I've managed to get three drinks out of and still plenty of flavour. http://nudosushibox.com/menu Sadly they've priced the boxes quite high, with most items coming it at around £5.00 & above, so this could only ever be a treat option for lunch. For a healthy and fresh lunch alternative to a bog standard sandwich though, it's a great shout. Well worth checking out.
