I was looking forward to this visit to Wasabi with fellow Yelpers having heard that this seems to be the favourite of the three sites and the hospitable Duncan. I frequent the other sites due to their location and guarantee that I will be full after dining there. I enjoyed my experience here as I had great company and a couple of the girls ordered a Sashami boat which looked awesome and Natalie ordered a la carte and the meals looked and smelled wonderful. I didn't see much variety on the conveyor belt and the experience was slightly hampered as the way the table is laid, I had to rely on someone else to grab my dishes. As there were many of us we ran out of soy sauce and ginger which both were not replaced. I will definitely come here again and try and be brave and select a variety of dishes rather than relying on the good quality set menus.

Much the same as my last review on a different wasabi, it is no t the best sushi you can get. But it is the cheapest - the place is fun, fast and the food is tasty. I really like wasabi, it is one off my favorite places to go for a quick bit. I went to this one with a large group of fellow yelpers, and treated myself to a boat of sashimi with was enjoyable and got the everyone's camera's clicking as they look awesome. This wasabi is the largest of the one in Manchester, with plenty of seating on and off the belt - however don't think this place is large. It sill can only fit about 30 -35 people. The service is quick and efficient. If you want some casual sushi time this place is a good bet.

Cheap and good sushi, what more could you ask for?…read more This was previously (and briefly) part of an attempt at a chain of 2 restaurants by Crazy Wendy's Thai in West Didsbury. Doring Sushi Bar has had a temporary sign up since opening at the tail end of last summer but I hope they are here permanently. I love sushi and I especially love low priced sushi! I had a platter of mixed sushi for £10 which I thoroughly enjoyed and didn't have left overs as I planned. My friend got salmon with edamame and rice and gave it a good report back. They also have the usual Japanese fare of chicken katsu, gyoza, etc on offer. I went on a quiet Wednesday lunchtime but I imagine this place us doing well in the evenings as Chorlton needed a sushi place, I now realise. The service was very friendly and the right level of attentiveness. There was an 80s mix CD on with the likes of A-ha and Cyndi Lauper which also pleased me. So, basically, I was a happy lady and I will return very soon.

Sign me up!…read more My friend came to visit and requested sushi because sushi is what you eat while on holiday according to her, and so I jumped at the chance to try Doring for the first time. We grabbed a table outside - beware the love seat, it is not very comfortable - and set about planning our feast. I can't remember everything that we ordered but we had some gyoza and edamame to start and then had an array of sushi and sashimi. All delicious, and the portions are pretty generous for the price. I was worried that we hadn't ordered enough, my friend was worried we had ordered too much, but it turned out to be a pretty satisfactory amount. We shared a bottle of house white wine which was perfectly fine. We also had some sake which I didn't love, though maybe I am just spoiled after the recent Yelp event featuring sake. The service was not great. Our waitress was very nice but seemed totally flustered. Thankfully as we were there for a nice leisurely meal this didn't bother us too much. Overall I really rate this place and I'll be back!

Nine of us turned up for lunch on a miserably cold, wet day. The meal here was just about better than ok, but not at all near great; scrapes two stars against price paid. If I were invited back I wouldn't be looking forward to going again. The teppanyaki 'show' is almost non existent. We've been to dozens of these shows over years in USA and on cruises. The shows are usually highly entertaining with food portions tasty and generous. This place was lifeless in comparison so if it's the show that attracts you'll waste your time and a lot of money too. Customers are also being ripped - off. This is the biggest shock I had - although the cooking left much to be desired as it's not simply cooking that's essential: building and concentrating flavour and plating up tasty food is important and mostly missing here. My wife chose what was a mean - portioned duck spring roll starter at a stonking £8 - 75p in ingredients to make (see photo). It tasted ok but not super. I got a 1 star tempura seafood £9.5 starter. It was also quite poor, not generous, lukewarm and the tempura wasn't crispy light either. I do better/tastier at home. A £1 chicken breast becomes a £20 teppanyaki with the addition of some sliced fried potatoes, about 20 pence worth of potato and tasteless thin sliced vegetables, tipped from a plastic bag onto a hot plate (beansprouts/carrots/snow-peas) then steam cooked to limp, unappetising, served with a very small bowl of fried, long grain white rice; say about fifteen pence worth. The rice wasn't cooked in front of us but at the hot plate behind our 'chef'. My pitiful small portion of cheap rice was al mush rather than al dente, with lumps of starchy boiled rice still prominent (see photo). No second portion was offered. I opted for fillet steak main £26 for 4/5 ounces of raw meat; had I opted for sirloin it was £24 for 6/7 ounces. The meats were tasty and cooked as ordered. I chose the Sapporo peppercorn sauce. It was far and away the tastiest part of the whole meal by a distance (not a big challenge) but the 'chef' slightly burned the pepper sauce. My first 330ml ale choice at 7% wasn't available (£12.05 a pint) I got a 6% tasty amber ale (£10.32 a pint). The staff are polite and courteous. The atmosphere was surprisingly muted despite the fact that the restaurant was very busy ripping off lots of folks at one time.

To state that that the boxes are…read moreexpensive, they really aren't especially if you compare prices to that of Wasabi , yo Sushi ( who are cheap anyway). I passed this place the other week (it's been there since mid August) Walking in reminded me of the large fridge section of boots or Eat. All the sushi here comes prepacked so its ideal for the quick takeout.. With a choice of udon soups on the top shelf, underneath they had individually wrapped handrolls, large sashimi boxes, salmon , chicken, dumplings and swordfish. As for the drinks I didn't see anything alcoholic..not even the likes of sake or asahi.. Choosing a stackful of boxes we opened them up to reveal our treasure. The first one was the seared swordfish, which is not the cheapest fish . Yet here I was eating massive chunks of it for £3.50 ODD. Next was the tuna and salmon sashimi box. I think this was the most expensive box,at £7 but the amount of sashimi it contained was amazing. Box number 3 exposed x3 salmon nigiri, x3 tuna Nigiri , x6 salmon California rolls and edamame beans . This was around the 6.50 Mark which again works out cheaper than £2 a plate for two pieces! Finally we fought over the salmon box, which held maki and nigiri for £3.50. This place gets its high rating mainly due to the ideology of it. Cracking concept, great value for money and convenient. I mean the decor is okay..although next time look at the ceiling in the toilet ...there is a camera..hopefully its no longer live... The service was also pleasant, a nice lady who asked if we prefered forks or chopsticks (which came with a tooth pick-) However the food will never be five star because everything is refrigerated which makes the rice not as palatable. The tuna is also the same grade that wasabi use..tasty but I'm sure it artificially dyed. So overall I would come back again for some sashimi and a hot soup..but I will not have the very ricey dishes.

It has a really great vibe and has been busy every time I've passed by - you really need to pick a bit of a quieter time for your first trip though as there is so much to choose from! It's all lined up on shelves like you would find at a supermarket, however the team are constantly bringing out boxes so you know what you're looking at is super fresh. I've tried two lunches there now - the first was Chicken Teriyaki Rice which they heat for you before you go. This was delicious with great flavour, although could have done with a little more chicken. Today I went with the Dumpling & Nudo King Prawn Sushi Rice Set. Again flavours were spot on, although there was no description of what was in the dumplings (I think veggies). I also tried the Jasmine Silver Needle Tea (£1.80) which I've managed to get three drinks out of and still plenty of flavour. http://nudosushibox.com/menu Sadly they've priced the boxes quite high, with most items coming it at around £5.00 & above, so this could only ever be a treat option for lunch. For a healthy and fresh lunch alternative to a bog standard sandwich though, it's a great shout. Well worth checking out.

As a vegetarian I was fairly happy with the food choices. If you eat fish and other meats don't worry, there's plenty of choice for you too!!!. I enjoyed a portion of inari sushi and a beautiful bowl of mushroom and cabagge ramen with soya sauce broth and thick Udon noodles (Kinoko Udon). The hot food is cooked to order but you were welcome to grab anything that took your fancy from the belt, if what you fancy is not on the belt you just order it from one of the lovely staff members. You can eat in, order food for collection, order via uber eats, justeat, etcétera. The restaurant had a decent amount of people without being too busy (but I suppose Mondays at 1830 are fairly quiet anyway!) and I saw about 6 deliveries being collected, plus two orders to take away (this tells me the restaurant must be fairly popular with the locals.) You can take away lunch for just £4.95. Service was prompt, staff were friendly and efficient. Food was very tasty and freshly made. My first visit to Sakana and I was pleasantly surprised at how its interior looked (more so the delicious smells wafting over as you passed by their open kitchen). We were seated in a corner with decent views of the goings-on, and set about conquering the menu - the group was almost military in its tactics, dividing the menu's sections between ourselves to make sure we got to sample lots of different dishes. Three of us ordered a bottle of their house red (a Merlot) which was actually quite good - a bit on the peppery side but I really liked it. The food started to arrive after a bit of a wait, but we'd had some prawn crackers to whet our appetite. The sashimi platter that I ordered for us all to share was a bit disappointing (usual price £28 for 15 pieces). I can't think of anything else that was particularly underwhelming; the combo of orders was all rather good - but the highlights for me were the Taiwanese buns which you could have with shredded duck or pork belly (we ordered both). These were absolutely heavenly, for want of a better word. Service was friendly, if not a tad haphazard at times; it's definitely somewhere to consider for date night. That being said, you'd have to be happy 'flashing the cash' as I don't think it's worth the full price they'd ordinarily be charging diners.
