    Starter selection
    Victoria B.

As a previous reviewer said it was a meh. Went bowling and Christmas shopping in the Trafford Centre and was looking for somewhere to eat. This looked pretty appealing so plonked myself down on their outside chairs. Had the starter selection which had gyoza, spring rolls and other things and the gentleman who brought it out explained what everything was. Our waitress helped me choose a main and she was quite adamant I had the fried rice, which was really blah and I couldn't finish. My friend had noodles which looked OK. We had a fair few different drinks- including green tea, ginger beer, beer etc. At the end of our meal the woman was really pushing for us to have a dessert and came over several times- we simply wanted a coffee. I ordered a Vietnamese coffee but wanted it sweet and they ran out of condensed milk so she brought out a free one. gave it to the gentleman next to us because I just didn't want it black. So I ordered this green tea latte which was really nice. The bill was pretty hefty considering we didn't have dessert and I wouldn't go back really, it was just average.

Oops I Chicken yaki Yodon it again! ;)

Oh oh oh Tampopo, you stole my heart and now I can't say no no. Despite being a stones throw away from my other favourite eatery that is Rice. My recent visit left me with a burning desire to return. Tampopo's Nasi Goreng is fast becoming the run away success of 2012. After passively stealing a bite or two of it from an unsuspecting eating partner, I have never looked back. This dish is to this year what Pad Thai was to 2011. There aren't many days left in 2012, but rest assured I will spend them wisely diving widemouthly into my next plate. Tampopo has risen to the top of my restaurants to eat at in the Trafford centre not just for its food but for its decor (Had my last meal in a tuk tuk, nearly!) fantastic service, and meal turnaround time. Not to mention the reasonable menu prices. What's more if you can't finish your Red Curry, have them doggie bag it in the old school little boxes from Frasier. They'll taste even better for lunch the next day, I promise. Any real foodie be hard pressed to find a better eatery at the trafford centre my sweet Yelpeeps. So hit me up before you go go.. and I'll most likely tag along.

Oh my god I'm so full. After avoiding Tampopo for the longest time because YEARS ago I ordered some weird thing that was like vegetable crudites and peanut dip and a cold boiled egg that was really gross, I decided to go back tonight. And it was really cool. Like the previous reviewer said it is pretty echoy, the music was soo bassy it was like someones phone was constantly vibrating on your table. A really old phone aswell like some old Ericsson phone not like the nice clipt, crisp, clinical vibrate of an htc desire. The restaurant is adorned with asian cooking paraphenalia like chillis, tins of coconut milk and bags of flour (?) The menu has a great selection of different dishes from japan, thailand, vietnam etc. It has soups, salads curries and little tapasy street food dishes that are so freaking good. We had these fried corn fritters, it was like pancake batter and sweet corn cakes with a satay dip. omg they were rly nice. I had ramen which was huuuge, with beansprouts, noodles and greens. The broth was so delicious I could have just eaten that. My boyfriend had Penang curry which was as delicious as it always is anywhere you go. It was just really nice and the prawn crackers they give you are soo crunchy and the waitress was a total gem. It must have been pretty salty though because im so damn thirsty now.

Thai curry noodles & asahi beer of course!

We tend to head to either Tampopo or Wagamama when wanting to grab a bite whilst at the Trafford centre, as I think they're the better options out of the other 'chain' restaurants on offer. Tampopo however just steals it for me, since I do prefer the Thai dishes. We've dined here a few times lately, on all occasions the food was flavoursome and well cooked. The service is generally pretty good and what you expect from restaurants alike. The range of dishes on the menu is good, my favourite is the Thai curry noodles - spicy, zingy and filling! I could eat noodles like this every day! I highly recommend Tampopo for a quick, tasty and reasonably priced dinner.

Great fast service although ended up feeling a little more like a fast food joint than I'd have liked and the music was a little off putting (loud hip hop?!). They'd run out of most beers so we went for tiger.. It was warm.. Clearly just brought up from the store room.. Warm beer is not cool! Had the Pad Thai minus the egg, which they were more than happy to do. Great sized portion and great flavour with lime and peanuts. I feel there are better Thai options out there which trump this one.. This being said perhaps it's set up this way at the Trafford centre to get people in and out and encourage more shopping!

Food always tastes lovely. Good quick customer service. The Thai Green Curry is favourite and the spicey prawn cracker yummy. Tiger beer get that too :)

The food is classed as pan asian which is great as I love all asian food. However, the sushi, although very good, I feel it is slightly overpriced for what you get. My first visit to Sakana and I was pleasantly surprised at how its interior looked (more so the delicious smells wafting over as you passed by their open kitchen). We were seated in a corner with decent views of the goings-on, and set about conquering the menu - the group was almost military in its tactics, dividing the menu's sections between ourselves to make sure we got to sample lots of different dishes. Three of us ordered a bottle of their house red (a Merlot) which was actually quite good - a bit on the peppery side but I really liked it. The food started to arrive after a bit of a wait, but we'd had some prawn crackers to whet our appetite. The sashimi platter that I ordered for us all to share was a bit disappointing (usual price £28 for 15 pieces). I can't think of anything else that was particularly underwhelming; the combo of orders was all rather good - but the highlights for me were the Taiwanese buns which you could have with shredded duck or pork belly (we ordered both). These were absolutely heavenly, for want of a better word. Service was friendly, if not a tad haphazard at times; it's definitely somewhere to consider for date night. That being said, you'd have to be happy 'flashing the cash' as I don't think it's worth the full price they'd ordinarily be charging diners.

The gluten free menu was very poor and was literally a really small selection of noodles which were gluten free and near enough no other options sadly, salads were in there, but it just was quite poor for gluten free. The service wasn't very good, after handing me a menu, no member of staff offered to talk me through the menu and they just couldn't care less whether I dined their or not, they didn't try and get me sat down or tell me more about their gluten free options to actually pull me into the restaurant, which is needed for a location with so many other rivals in one of the largest shopping centres in the UK - The Trafford Centre. I did get a menu, but the staff members just lacked confidence talking about gluten free, which was a real shame. This place stood out to me, with the multiple signs which drawn me in sadly bad customer service and an awful gluten free selection pulled me away, hence resulting in a single one star as this place really does need to do more to compete in such a busy location with dozens and dozens of rivals nearby.

We came in around 9pm with my brother who has been to a couple other Wagamama locations and he had only good things to say about it. The decor is wonderful (modern, spacious, clean) and the menu has so many options it took me forever to choose! We got the katsu curry, chicken ramen, bulgogi, and grilled duck donburi. Everything was great and we even ordered dessert! The pricing seemed reasonable to me and the service was good. We would definitely eat at Wagamama again! Thanks for a great meal!

I must point out that I was only there in the first place because Ange promised me lunch, and she only wanted to go because she had been given some vouchers for John Lewis and needed some make-up. At lunch time we wandered around the Orient perusing the menus, and opted to try Rice because they had a good choice on offer. I went for the Malaysian Chilli Chicken, and Ange for the Thai Chicken Krapao (Much school boy laughter from me). I ordered a bottle of Peroni whilst Ange asked for a glass of cucumber water, the waitress walked off and came back and told Ange that they were out of cucumber,so ange asked for half a pint of Tiger Beer, only to be told that they no loger have beer on tap, only bottles. My food was nice, not spectacular, just nice, nice rice, nice chicken and a nice amount of spice. Ange on the other hand took a couple of mouthfuls before realising that the dish was supposed to contain chicken and mince, hers was only chicken. When she ordered it the waiter told her it was spicy, only it wasn't spicy at all. She decided to not bother with the mince but asked a waitress if she could have some chilli sauce, she went off to get some and we didn't see her again! Although we both kind of enjoyed the food,at £30 for the two of us it was a bit steep for what we got,a main and a beer each. We left feeling like we should've gone elsewhere.Probaby Wokooshi accross the way... A dream so profound it inspired him to embark on a journey which resulted in the formation of one of my favorite eateries in Manchester. My love for Rice Flame bar and grill and its delightful range of dishes was firmly established way before I featured them in a publication I previously worked for. This place is nothing but a celebration of the fact that rice is the staple diet of billions all over the globe. Whilst places like Tampopo and Wagamama amongst others celebrate cuisine of a similar persuasion, Rice competes admirably. The food is of the highest standard as demonstrated by the volume of my check ins. Chicken Katsu curry, Jamaican jerk chicken and the Pad Thai are amongst my favorite foodie ventures which never fail to disappoint. The staff are knowledgeable enough to recommend dishes to those not familiar with the variety on offer, and I've always found them to be well receptive of your needs. It is no wonder thus that I've found every branch is well occupied most nights. The success has garnered demand which sees more Franchises popping up slowly but surely all over this lovely Island of ours. The more the merrier I say because Rice is very much here to stay

I got salt and pepper squid tentacles at £7.90.. to be fair it was the only one we considered worth the money because the squid was nice and soft and you got a nice crisp from the thin coating on the outside, it tasted really nice but it was a little dry because it came with no dipping sauce or anything just to make it easier to swallow. We also ordered the ma lat beef, which tasted nice too but didn't have a kick when it said it was supposed to be spicy.. harbour king prawns which was also dry but in its defence i think it was supposed to be like that because the king prawns in it were beautifully cooked. The chicken in black bean sauce tasted nice and also the the won tons from the mixed starter to share were very good.. they did charge over £5 for a portion of bean sprouts and also the house special rice cost over £10. All in all I'd give it 3.5 stars but I though giving it three stars on here wouldn't be fair to knock their rating down.
