We had an excellent meal and one person in our group who is a vegan was pleased with the choices she had. Nice staff as well.

We were greeted as we came in and given a menu straight away without being seated, which I thought a bit odd, however as not all the party had arrived yet I asked for a glass of dry white wine at the bar, I was informed by the owner they don't sell much wine and all that was available was medium of which I was invited to taste, it was more medium sweet, similar to a dessert wine, I then spotted a bottle of Pinot Grigio which doesn't have the best reputation in the wine world but it is typically dry so I can't understand why I wasn't offered this in the first place. We had the early bird menu which is a starter, main and glass of wine for £10.95, the choices are very limited and considering they are advertised as being Italian weren't very Italian at all, I opted for the Greek Meze which consisted of tzatziki, which tasted shop bought, olives and a chilli dip served with warm pitta bread, very uninspiring but edible. Again the mains choice was also very limited so I went for the creamy chicken pasta without the chicken, it was really nice, al dente pasta with a delicious creamy, slightly chilli tomato sauce, the portions size was enormous and I barely finished half, one of our party ordered the same as me but there'd been a mix up with the order and we had all finished our meal by the time she got her pasta which was disappointing. The live keyboard player made for an enjoyable atmosphere and happily took requests. I wouldn't recommend for couples but it's passable for a large party.

He came over and announced how we had the table until 10:00pm even before we had been seated or shown to our table. Five minutes wait and we were shown to our table, a rather sad little table, with uncomfortable over worn chairs. This was plonked in front of the kitchen area. The waitors came to ask for our order and then forgot the drinks. why continue to ask what we want? Starters came, which were rather bland. The mains were bland too and unspiring. The staff were miserable, except for a blonde waitress who seemed to know what she was doing. I won't ever be returning there. I'd rather go to Pizza Express. Correction - The mains were bland but the brushetta and humous dishes were really nice as was my partners dish of Lobster Raviolli and a pizza we ordered.

After a couple of drinks in Works (see review…read morehttp://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/works-sowerby-bridge#query:Works) my friend and I fancied getting something decent for dinner and so opted for the brand new Rare Bar & Grill as we didn't fancy a curry or Italian. Inside it looked sleek and modern with lots of chunky wood everywhere and plenty of seating. When we arrived it wasn't very busy, but that soon changed once we'd been in there half an hour and were tucking into our shared Meze Combo starter, which was tasty, though we had a bit too much pitta and not enough to slather on it... And now for the main courses. My friend ordered the ribs which were massive and tasty (I tried a bit out of curiosity) though they had serious 'food envy' when my medium rare rump steak arrived. I opted for baby potatoes instead of chips and also a red wine sauce. The steak was melt-in-your-mouth juicy deliciousness. I've written it in the title of my pic and I'll write it again: it was the best steak I have ever eaten. The red wine sauce was a nice addition. After all that we were too stuffed to try dessert, but I eyed New York Cheesecake on the menu - if I return that is getting demolished instead of, or probably in my case, as well as, the starter.

Good sized portions so most of us couldn't manage desert but had the most delicious lemon cheese cake ever. They sussed it was a birthday night without being told and brought another complimentary desert complete with sparkler, candle and musical serenade. Service was great and nothing was too much trouble. We had a fab night and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended
