So when I spied the rather nice looking Meze I made a bee line for it. It's quite a swanky looking eatery, especially in the area it's in and inside it didn't disappoint either. The waiters were pleasant and efficient and it all looked promising. That promise was maintained throughout the evening. The food is Turkish and Greek and a cuisine I've not really sampled too often. I wish I had though if this is any standard to measure by. Really tasty starters and fresh, well cooked mains. The kebabs and Turkish rice was simply delicious. The wine list was also perfectly good and the price, although not cheap reflected the standard of the food. A must for lovers of this type of food.

There's banquets to share and a good range of dishes, all of which look good enough on the menu to take a hopeful punt on. In fairness, they ARE all worth taking a punt on! The bar is as well stocked as any restaurant bar and the wine list is... well... I'm not a wine expert so I wouldn't know. From the look of it, it seems good enough unless you're Oz Clark. The staff are all pleasant and clued up and, on certain nights, they have traditional Greek music and, well, let me just say that, if you're after a quiet romantic night in, avoid this one (ring ahead to find out when it is as I can't remember) as it can get a bit loud. He gets really involved with the people who eat there. Whenever I have been there, he has made me get up and dance with him on a table at the front. After the dancing he gets everybody outside and lets us all smash a plate. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is the best I have ever experienced in a restaurant. I highly, highly reccommend this place to people of any age for birthday meals, anniversary meals, a fun night out with friends, anything! You will have fun, guaranteed!

My fella had a change from his usual and reliable Chicken Shawarma (which he loves) and had the Spinach & Chicken Gratin. Both of us fell silent whilst devouring the food, with the exception of customary food-appreciation noises, and both were very very good. The reason for the lower marks on the * rating is that the waiting on staff didn't get the order right in the first place and so we had to wait an extra 10 minute for mine to arrive (mixed up the reading of the order of gratin and chops with gratin and chips) and so when one incorrect dish arrived and the young lady realised there were two at the table, Richard's dinner was taken back and said it would be kept warm until mine arrived. Not brilliant but I suppose the positive that old style "writing down" an order by hand and not computerised is something to take from this family run business, and that they give a young person an opportunity to learn and earn (the young lady was clearly very new) is to be praised. Overall, great food and ok service, but a complimentary Diet Coke for the inconvenience might have been better received.
