Lebanese is a funny one. I really don't want to paint this whole region with the same brush but I find Turkish, Cypriot, Lebanese, Greek etc all very similar - and this isn't a bad thing! Myself and Michael B popped here for a quick 'man-date' the other night and on a Tuesday it was fairly quiet while plenty of attention from the staff. They were out of pump beer (damn - it always has to be a pint for that first drink of the day!) so instead of the advertised Tickety Brew Pale we went for the local Lebanese beer which was ok but fairly generic lager. We then followed this with a bottle of Tickety Brew Rose Wheat which kicked ass (great to see them stocking quality Manchester beers) The food wasn't bad - a tasty meze to share to start and I had the lamb kofta to follow. Nice sides but not much of it. Overall it was a nice experience - whether I'd choose it again over a nice family owned Lebanese restaurant I don't know - £25 each for the 2 beers and food which I guess is about right. Extra note: there's a great shop in the front stocking all sorts of cool Middle Eastern fodder and ingredients. Plus some very expensive teapots -£450 each (I'm not too sure how many of these they sell a week!)

The second of two Lebanese eateries to open in Manchester in the last few weeks (the first being Bakchich http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/bakchich-manchester-2), Comptoir Libanais, meaning 'Lebanese counter', opened their 12th UK restaurant right here in Spinningfields. Talk about a wow factor as soon as you walk in - the large section at the front serves as their 'souk shop' where you can buy a large range of products from the region (anything from Turkish Delights right up to ornate tea ware for several hundred pounds). The dining space is huge, airy and beautifully colourful in its design; tiles of multiple patterns adorn the floor and large deli counter, there are big art pieces (you'll seen the large smiling face of Arabic actress Sirine on the wall and also on the cover of all the menus). Speaking of which, the choice of options is probably slightly larger here than at Bakchich, where alongside the mezzes there are wraps, large salads, grilled meats, fish, Lebanese flat breads (Mana'esh), tagines and fattets (hummus). Two of us shared a mezze platter for one as the portion sizes are large. For mains I had the Comptoir Lamb Burger which was served with batata harra (spiced potatoes) and my friend ordered Lamb Kofta. I really enjoyed what I had, the burger bun was light despite its size - it could probably have done with a sauce accompaniment but that's the only quibble. Washed down with a bottle of their local beer, Almaza, and then a Tickety Brew Rose Wheat Beer (really good) it was a thoroughly decent first visit and I'd love to eat here again.

I went to Comptoir Libanais to meet up with a few of my friends, we booked a table but it was pretty quiet on a Tuesday evening so we needn't of bothered. The menu was vibrant and full of so much choice from meats from the grill, tagines and salads. The mezze option has something for everyone, hot and cold so is fantastic to share. We ordered a jug of homemade lemonade which came in a variety of interesting flavours but we opted for the 'Roomana' which was pomegranate and orange blossom flavoured, you could choose from gin, vodka or rum to be added, the gin was a great choice. It was very refreshing and tasted wonderful, it served four of us easily for £17.95. Two of my friends opted for the tagines which they really enjoyed. I went for the 'Shish Taouk', which sounds fancy but it basically just grilled chicken, it was really delicious. It was marinated perfectly and served with some crispy, flavoursome potatoes. One let down was one of my friends dishes came out wrong so we all had to start eating whilst she waited for hers but they rectified it as soon as they could so it wasn't all bad. The dessert choices were lovely, lots of nutty pastries and cakes. I chose the chocolate and cranberry brownie, it was nice but the cranberries didn't add much for me. The waitress brought it out to me with a candle in and sang to me as my friends had sneakily told her it would soon be my birthday, I was mortified but appreciated the gesture! The décor is lovely, very bight and colourful which I think makes a nice change from dark and moody settings of most bars and restaurants. I will definitely be visiting again.

I loved my experience of dining here a couple of weeks ago. The interior is BEAUTIFUL and you really do feel like you've been transported away to some exotic far away land. The place is huge. There's a cosy covered outdoor area, a bar area and then the main restaurant. Drinks: The pomegranate cosmopolitan was DELISH The simple delight cocktail would suit lovers of Turkish Delight. If you're not a fan, don't get it. We got a bottle of the house white wine for FREE (woooohooooo!) I have a Spinningfields Yellow Card and it was one of their exclusive offers for the month of June. It was actually very light and easy to drink ;) I guess it tastes better when it's free right.. Food: We shared the falafel to start which came with a humus dip.. three huge falafels make up one portion. Crisp on the outside and moist on the inside, very tasty. I had the aubergine tagine with cous cous as my main and I absolutely loved it! Not too heavy yet filling and very tasty. The staff were very friendly and attentive with out being overbearing. Will I be going back? YES.

Great night with friends and go try for yourself peeps

First time I've tried this place with a few friends we went last night and had a couple of meat mezz to start which were very tasty indeed lots of different dips and meat to try would recommend to try.the wine list is very poor I sampled 4 different ones and all where not rich Orr pallet able for my taste so we stuck to cocktail's which were much better don't be put off by this as its a must try. So make your own mind up guys and girls..

We ordered the 2 of the Mezze platters for two and they were really good, especially the Baba Ghanuj; also ordered the Batata hara which was pretty good again.

Basically this place does amazing Middle Eastern/Lebanese cuisine and on this occasion with it being Friday lunch time, I popped in just as they were doing their all you can eat buffet. For £11.95 I tucked into some amazing kofta, breads, dips, salad, wings - wow, so much great food just check out my snaps - plus there was lovely cake and pudding included to follow. The food was wonderful and tasty - really nice! To round off I bought an Arabic cardamom tea which was fantastic - really nice and complimented the meal well. It was nice to go somewhere not on my normal radar, I'll be back!

Nope its not a randomly named curry house, Beirut serves food deliciouso Lebanese-o! For those not in the know, Manchester's curry mile has seen a mini Middle eastern revolution of its own. The Mile of curry is now equipped with a plethora of Shisha bars as well as restaurants such as Beirut. In honestly of alls, my first impression of the place was not great. The capital could be described as chaotic from the kids running around whilst parents going to town on their meat feasts to the directionless type waiting staff, more laid back than the kobedas on show. First impressions however don't last and I'm here to announce that the food thankfully did make a lasting impression. I'd personally recommend the mixed grill, even if I struggled to get through half of it. Don't be put off by the cover, its the contents of the book that count. If Beirut was a book, I would highly recommend it, it was a great read.

Price range is 6-12 pounds, and dishes are enormous, so it is impossible to leave the place hungry. What I didn't like was the service - our party of 12 people received a one (!) jug of water and 7 glasses. When I asked the waiter for more glasses and water, they brought a couple of more jugs but still no glasses. Presumably, they assumed we were supposed to fight over them.

The servers were nice yes, but the food was far from what I expected. I had the lamb shawarma, and while yes I realize it was only £3.50, any hole in the wall on the curry mile would have a better and bigger shawarma for the same price. It was very thin resembling more of a wrap with scant filling. I did eat the whole thing so it wasn't bad, but then I looked down and saw my little basket/plate. It was filled with oil. I tilted the basket in different directions playing with the puddle of oil running from side to side at the bottom of the basket (I posted a video of this). Then I saw my hands covered in oil and was immediately terrified knowing that I was going to wake up with puberty like acne on my face as a result of eating this shawarma. The garlic sauce was ok but then the hot sauce was definitely not spicy (less than Frank's red hot or tapatio). As someone who swears by her hot sauce, not having adequate hot sauce lost major points. Although the ambiance is nice and the servers are friendly, I am disappointed bc this place promotes itself as a trendy and lovingly crafted restaurant with authentic tastes of Lebanon, but with the copious amounts of oil, if I wanted greasy take away quality, I would choose the hole in the wall on the curry mile any day.

I was in the mood for Mediterranean and there it was across from Costa Coffee, offering the FLAVOURS OF LEBANON. The ambiance was laid back and reminiscent of an Arabian outdoor garden, including climbing vines and flowers, hanging lights and intricate tile designs, all whilst Arabic music played in the background. The lamb kofta was deliciously seasoned & the vegetarian mezze very nice as well. I would have given 5 stars if the wait from the kitchen wasn't so long. We had a choice of places to eat here with Yo Sushi nearby, but it has become way too overpriced for what it is, and Tampopo which was also nearby, but we remembered that the last time we ate there the portions were just mean and the food wasn't hot. So in here it was. It's an open kitchen but I suspect most of the dips are factory made off site and plated here. We ordered a mezze platter for one and a mixed grill main consisting of chicken & lamb which came (served fairly cold) with a salad and a choice of spicy potato (the waitress declared the potatoes weren't that spicy) rice or cous cous. Cous cous was instantly our choice and it was very good. The food was refreshingly delicious with fresh herbs lifting the taste buds to another level. The salad with the mixed grill was ace tasting. The mezze plate was entirely vegetarian with some vegan food on the plate. The portions were mostly generous, but only one small falafel; should be two. Whilst it was all delicious the smoked aubergine and the baba ghanuj were really stand - out stunning and the flat bread on the side was a wonderful vehicle to dunk and munch. The service was friendly, but on the slow side and we got the wrong bill at the end of our meal. It was also odd to hear that only credit card payments were accepted and one couldn't put a tip onto the card payment either. We were fine with card payment and if we can't tip than that's that but it would be good manners if not necessary to tell guests this before they are seated or put a note on the window. Solid three stars - if the hot food was hot and the service focussed it would be four stars but if I'm not getting tips I wouldn't be super efficient either and to management - it's not rocket science guys & gals.

It's nothing to write home about, but clean and no-nonsense. It was fairly busy when we arrived, so book ahead to avoid having to wait. Service was fine but there were so many diners you can expect a bit of a wait to order and in between courses. As for the food, the starters (or 'mazza') were definitely the highlight of the evening, so I'd recommend you order a few dishes to share if you're eating as a group. The mains didn't appear to blow any of us away with deliciousness - they were just underwhelming. If we went back we'd probably just order more starters. The food is freshly prepared, healthy and enough to make the mouth water. The Hummus Hab, Baba ghanouj and salads are not to be missed! Add that to it's BYOB policy (£1 corkage) and your set for a great night. Evidently, the Aladdin's has built up a good reputation in the local area and thus provides a bustling atmosphere, with a diverse cliental (Coronation Street stars have been spotted in here!), particularly during the weekend. For this reason, I recommend booking in advance. The only blip ever reported to me is it's portion sizes. However, this was a comment from two 21 year old males with ENORMOUS appetites!
