A little box on Wilmslow road. Very compact, very cosy. Order some food get blown away. Kosmos is the king of Greek food. Having been to Greece I can tell you this is better than a £200 flight to get some food from there. Kosmos doesn't receive legendary status for no reason, tucked away in that tiny kitchen is a T.V chef; Loulla Astin has been with Kosmo since its incarnation in 1981 (8 years before I was born!) she's also had her own programs on sky, praise from Richard and Judy and an award from the Queen for services to hospitality! Literally I am telling you to go there, Kosmos does awesome Mousaka and three Mezethes menus meat, fish or vegetarian at a reasonable £18. Just go, GO!

Another great odyssey into Hellenic cuisine as I work my way though their impressive a la carte. I guess I come here often enough for it to feel like a second home, the welcome certainly makes it seem so. Our starters this time were two different feta parcels - one with spinach and other other with honey and walnuts. We also had their very impressive prawns in cream, brandy and white wine. To follow, their spectacular Moussaka (this arrives piping hot which is a bit of a problem as it's pretty untouchable for the first 10 minutes), pork cooked in tomato cumin and coriander and a substantial chargrilled assortment of meats. Rice, cracked wheat, Greek roast potatoes or chips are the choice of sides. Sadly they no longer offer half and half on these but I seem to have remained as satisfied as ever.

Well, what can I say..... Wow!!…read more As a previous yelper has said this isn't the place for squirt romantic date....! This is a full on Greek experience, dancing on the tables, everyone up on their feet, shots of ouzo and getting involved type night! I came here with a drink who had a Groupon voucher for a 20 dish meat meze. DO NOT EAT BEFORE YOU COME HERE!!!I have never seen so much food in my life its great! There is no set menu here you either order the meat or veggie platter and the courses just keep rolling!! Starters: hummus, tsasiki, hot pitta, beetroot salad, potato salad Hot starters: feta parcels, stuffed tomatoes, etc there are so many dishes! Mains:sifado, moussaka, garlic mushroom, rice, chicken stew, chicken dishes All great big portions to share with extra sides! Drinks were very reasonable- they also have mythos beer which is such a tasty option! In terms of after you eat they get everyone up dancing round the restaurant so you will either love it or hate it! Be prepared for a crazy night of being told how to dance by the crazy host, lots of good food and cold beer!!

However this place is really NOT for that. This is the sort place where groups of people come to join in with crazy dancing and interact with the staff.. SO with that now in my mind we arranged a hen party to take place here. Having booked beforehand with £5 deposit each we were led by a waiter to our table. All of these were crammed closely together. I could not take note of any decor as it was dark , lighten with dim disco lights. Having ordered a bottle of rose the first set of food arrived. Lentils, olives , beetroot yoghurt dip, hummus, and tomato butterbeans. A large quantity of pitta bread was provided to shovel this in our mouths.. Next course cheese ricotta samosas, stuffed vine leaves, calamari, and chicken kebabs...Another course followed of stewed beef? moussaka, roast chicken and various rice...then finally a filo pastry dessert which toffee and icecream. The food overrall was of standard quality but the quantity you got was good. Food snaffled, the party began, everyone in the restaurant (apart from a couple trying to be romantic) got up and did a bongo train...After things got chaotic I grabbed a Mythos beer from the bar and watched the mad dancing continue. My friend was the third bride to be that night and so she was made to dance on a table solo, and with a member of staff ..followed by a shot of ouzo.. Other strange activities later ensued, including men pouring cups of water down each others throats, and swinging heavy tables with their mouths.. Everyone overrall enjoyed the crazy dynamic experience , if you are into this kind of party atmosphere then this is for you. I personally like nice restaurants/pubs with good food and a nice chilled out atmosphere where I can converse with ease...

From the beginning of our experience in Rozafa to the end, we were very, very disappointed with the service. The service was poor. They barely came to our table. When I asked our server to explain the dish, he acted like he didn't understand me and put it down for my order. We ordered a first course of pita bread and hummus for 3, and we were given 2 slices of pita bread while other tables were given 6 (for two people, btw). Once our dinner came, we didn't see the server for another hour. Yes, we were at this restaurant for almost an hour and a half and most of it entailed waiting to be acknowledged. We didn't see this with the other tables, and it has lead us to believe that they targeted us as Americans. We did not show them disrespect. We asked questions, and we tried to be unassuming. Needless to say, but it is not high on my recommendations. Ohh...and the food was okay.

The welcome from the staff was friendly and we were shown to our table straight away and left with the wine list. Whilst not extensive, there are a number of Greek wines to choose from so we tried the Makedonikos, a medium dry white wine that went quite well with our food. Of course, being a Greek restaurant we had to start with a mezze, and there's certainly plenty to choose from here. We tried a small variety of dishes including the calimari, tzatziki and hummus, all of which were delicious. Next, the selection of main courses provides plenty of choice and we both decided to try the Stifado, a favourite of mine since I first tried it in Cyprus a few years ago. The beef is so well cooked here until it is really tender and just falls apart on your fork and the sauce is full of flavour. Highly recommended :) My only comment on the restaurant itself is that, although they've tried to capture the essence of Greece, it's not *quite* there yet. The lighting seemed just a bit too bright and behind the decor, the resturant seems just a bit too modern for a traditional Greek taverna. Hopefully this will change over time as the restaurant develops a bit more character - it is still quite new after all. Otherwise, the food is excellent and the staff are friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be going back. :)
