While we were eating, I wanted to give this place 4 stars -- good thing that Yelp doesn't allow full reviews!
Fairly typicaly blue-and-white decor when you walk in. There were a bunch of people playing backgammon when we came in, and the resto isn't sure if it's a resto or a lounge- there are a couple of different bits. There's also honest Greek radio blasting the latest eurovision wannabe tunes out loud.
We had a massive sampler plattter-- enough food for 4 rather than the 2 suggested by the special we'd had. Everything seemed nice-- lots of typical dishes done decently - mousakka, tadziki, gyro, etc. Lots of things I hadn't tried - including a grilled feta with chili that was simply divine.
But then we went home & both got a bit on the ill side- and we don't mean like ill communication & the bass phenomenon-- it was food poisoning.
Now, every resto can have this as a problem. We had to put about a kg of food in the bin, though. An overall mixed experience. The folk running the place are so nice as to make Northerners appear crass, and the food was nice, except for the bit we at that made us sick. The decor & loud music lets down a bit, however, and the sick bit of the food... well, not sure if we'll go back.
It's too bad, really. read more
