This little slice of Greece, is how can I put it!! It's a little slice - having been to Greece and Cyprus and turkey and having eaten in tavernas high and low . Main drag and back street. It's not really a patch on them. I read previous reviews on Efes and thought it looked ok. Went in. Very slow at taking drinks order and no direction of what to do in terms of plates or getting the lunch buffet. Eventually we found some plates behind a fridge . Good points - lots of choice of meat Bad points - not hot - barely warm food All meat not much veg , pudding shop bought not even any good baklava Two drinks ended up costing £5.75 not that bad for a buffet Probably won't return if customer service had been better then maybe but I doubt it

If you've checked the website before booking be warned that the pictures aren't a true reflection of how things are when you actually get there. The photos show a vibrant atmosphere in a luxurious setting. The actual experience is discount meals in discount decor- I hate to say it but there is an unavoidable air of tiredness about the place, as if it's better days are long behind it. That's not to say that the staff don't try hard, on the contrary they couldn't be more welcoming with that famous Turkish hospitality- which is why this review is particularly hard to write- but a good salesman must have a good product and if he doesn't he at least has to believe in it- I wasn't convinced that Efes did.

Strangest twist on Turkish food I have ever experienced; they serve up onion rings and spring rolls here! Found this place had no real atmosphere and the decor was tired and out of date. If you have going out for a special occasion I can see the appeal as there is live music, belly dancers etc however I think of much better alternatives in manchester to this restaurant so keep looking.

    Yummy!

We went to Efes for our Christmas party. Food is fresh and authentic and I should know after living in istanbul for years! Some cheesy and inclusive Turkish dancing music and entertainment and then a dj in the midnight hour for those of you who like to move like jagger. A great place for groups. Super friendly sta

It was one of the many restaurants in Manchester which had a January deal - not quite as good as the 50% off deals you see in some restaurants - it was 30% off the kebabs on the menu. The menu mainly consists of kebabs with a couple other main non-kebab dishes and then several things which are more starters/sharing type dishes. While we were deciding on what to order for main course, we got some hummus to share. Really nice! The kebabs all sounded good and it was a tough decision which one to go for. Was tempted by the monkfish one but that was sold out. Ended up sharing a kebab - we each got a kebab and cut in half. So shared the beef cheek one and the hanger steak one.  We also got some fries "for the table". So got Greek Fries and Paprika Fries. Greek Fries are fries with tzatziki, feta, olives and chilli sauce. Paprika Fries are simpler - just fries with paprika seasoning. The kebab tasted delicious. Amongst the group, I think some had the pork souviaki one and someone had the lamb adana one and everyone enjoyed the food. Even better than the kebab was 30% off. Looking forward to going again and try more of the kebabs!

For £3, really cheap too. Although I think they do hike this upto £5 at Pride. There's a few tables available to eat your food immediately if not carrying it home. The chipped Formica tables have seen better days, but at these prices it wouldn't be fair to complain!! There's also a good selection of Middle Eastern food and Pizzas. Recommended!

Flatbread for the wrap looked to be khoubz from a packet and warmed up on the chargriller. The falafel seemed fresh enough. On these two points, this places Safad slightly behind Atlas Shawarma where the bread is fresh naan and also I always see the falafel being made to order at Atlas. Safad's trimmings such as hummus, tabbouleh and yoghurt mint sauce are above average, but still suffer from the unwritten law that kebabs shops must use only iceberg lettuce and pale tomatoes. But my overall verdict is that £3 is outstanding value for a substantial, freshly-made lunch. The décor is well-worn vinyl on the floor, formica tables etc. But for me is the integrity and warmth of the staff, plus the predominantly Arab clientele which give Sadaf a charm which beats many flashier places. I would definitely go back for falafel or maybe a pizza.

Price range is 6-12 pounds, and dishes are enormous, so it is impossible to leave the place hungry. What I didn't like was the service - our party of 12 people received a one (!) jug of water and 7 glasses. The servers were nice yes, but the food was far from what I expected. I had the lamb shawarma, and while yes I realize it was only £3.50, any hole in the wall on the curry mile would have a better and bigger shawarma for the same price. It was very thin resembling more of a wrap with scant filling. I did eat the whole thing so it wasn't bad, but then I looked down and saw my little basket/plate. It was filled with oil. I tilted the basket in different directions playing with the puddle of oil running from side to side at the bottom of the basket (I posted a video of this). Then I saw my hands covered in oil and was immediately terrified knowing that I was going to wake up with puberty like acne on my face as a result of eating this shawarma. The garlic sauce was ok but then the hot sauce was definitely not spicy (less than Frank's red hot or tapatio). As someone who swears by her hot sauce, not having adequate hot sauce lost major points. Although the ambiance is nice and the servers are friendly, I am disappointed bc this place promotes itself as a trendy and lovingly crafted restaurant with authentic tastes of Lebanon, but with the copious amounts of oil, if I wanted greasy take away quality, I would choose the hole in the wall on the curry mile any day.

This was one of their favorite spots, so we saved it for our last night for the five of us together. Super clean restaurant, courteous staff, we ended up in a nice large booth that extended out, giving us plenty of room to spread out and get ready to feast. We started with a couple of appetizer plates that had a hummus selection, which was spectacular,, I'll highlight also the beet hummus I really liked as well as the bread brought to serve it on. The starter plate had a variety of things from chicken, falafel, calamari, lamb chop. It was nearly filling in and of itself! Excellent starter plate. Since I was the guest, they then ordered two large platters of the meat which included lamb, beef, chicken served kebab style, and grilled baked. I really couldn't determine but all the meats were flavorful. Well seasoned excellent. For dessert, we had Turkish coffee, baklava with ice cream, a chocolate cake, and cheesecake, which they all really enjoyed. Again, very upscale place, excellent staff, good craft beer. I'm not sure if it was Local, but always love a good lager. Highly recommend.!!!
