Caution tape on the front steps made me worry this club would be neglected. Went in anyway and was greeted by a friendly fella at the desk. He saw I was from out of town and immediately he said welcome and gave me a quick layout of the gym. It was much appreciated as he seemed to really enjoy his job. The equipment looks pretty standard and well maintained. The black card spa has all your usual stuff. I didn't feel out of place at all. I think that's what I enjoy most about PF, is the consistency of their gyms. I'm glad I joined this place, well worth your money as I travel a lot and it always feels like a little bit of home.

Staff told me they got a wifi "upgrade" recently and they are having issues with their own laptops. It's been a couple weeks. I like to work here in am but no wifi makes that impossible. I could only find 1 set of 5 lb plates in the whole place, and overall they could probably stand to beef up their supply of plates. Especially since they have the deadlift platforms. Maybe a couple sets of bumper plates? It's not the biggest AF, but it worked. All the plastic olympic collars were blown out. That's a safety issue. Only set of working collars I could find were some metal pinch ones. (I take it back--one of those were blown out, too--so only onee functional collar in the whole place). The olympic bar i was using seemed to be straight, which is good. Sometimes they're bent like cheap pool cue. Water fountain was functional, 4 changing rooms, vending machine with water and speed-drinks (no recovery drinks). This place could be a lot better if mgmt would spend a minimal amount of money and attention.

I am a creature of habit butI felt awkward only because the people were all new to me. So I will never take stars away for that. The workout was great, and Landon encouraged us to push ourselves. It was a good workout. As my home gym does, he takes the time to make sure you are lifting weights the right way if he sees you are struggling. I have to say, Orangetheory is an excellent workout. If you are looking for a good workout. This is the place! Some people get scared because they think that it is too intense for them. But you can set your own pace. It's a good workout, it is different everytime, and you can choose your pace. And you will get a lot of coaching to help motivate you to push harder. Keep burning!

I have been a regular at the Flowood Y for three years. I strength train there three days most…read moreweeks and do all my cardio the other 3-4 days per week if the weather keeps me indoors. The equipment is very well maintained and extensive. The indoor lap pool is very nice and not crowded during most of every day. The staff is amazing in all parts of the facility. I am not generally a group exercise fan but, if you are, the Flowood Y is your place to be. HIIT, Zumba, Yoga, Mat Palates, Reformer Palates, Body Sculpt, Step Aerobics, Spin, Barre, Kickboxing, Water Aerobics ... probably 100 classes per week--all included in your basic membership. I am also not a parent but know that the Flowood Y has child care (included with family membership) for your children age 6 months to 12 years, for up to 90 minutes a day while you work out. The only thing keeping me from 5 stars is the lack of a steam room, dry sauna, massage or laundry service but hey--its a YMCA--not Equinox. As Katie said, it is one of the nicest YMCA's you will ever see and at a small fraction of the Equinox price. Frankly, if you like any form of group exercise and/or are towing a kid around, I can't imagine you going anywhere else in Jackson, Madison, Ridgeland, Flowood or Brandon.
