Once your time is up there's an enormous playground right next door. There is so much to see and do that you could easily spend hours here without getting bored. Overall this is a fantastic township recreation area. It's clean and well-maintained, and there are endless play options for kids.

The trails are perfect for walking your furry dogs, in-line skating, cycling, easy walking and pushing strollers. The Challenger Place has finally finished and is a designed playground for kids who are blind or visually impaired. Their sport courts include tennis and basketball courts, as well as an in-line skating rink. The athletic field is available for rental and may be used for baseball games but not for practices. I have heard they have swimming pools but I personally did not see it. Instead, I saw a spray ground (water-enhanced playground) which was to open in mid-May but given our current situation with the COVID-19 outbreak, this is doubtful for mid-May 2020 due to the pandemic restrictions. Normally, it would open mid-May through early September. I would imagine the busiest time to be there with kids is during the height of summer because summer camps are held there by the Monmouth County Park System and Challenged Youth Sports from Middletown.

They emailed, texted & complained every day. I shadowed the most autistic child one day, and he was fine, the other child splashed water & was told to stop. Lastly, I gave them a $40 personal check for additional snacks, later to find out they didn't receive them bc they weren't on the list. Never, Ever will I let my kids suffer through that again. I think they are scammers.

For a school trip on June 3, I was there as a chaperone for my kids.. well later on in the day, there was this one lifeguard. not sure of her name but she wore glasses and had blonde hair, skinny and tall. This lifeguard is a monster! She should be fired. First off, she wasn't doing her job and said to the children "yo, stop splashing me, go move somewhere else" in a rude tone acting like getting wet isn't part of her job. Second there were kids almost drowning and she did nothing about it, instead she yelled at kids for sitting on the ledge of the pool and when my daughter responded with just an "okay", she flipped out and told her to get out of the pool for giving an attitude, then when my daughter and her friends were passing by, she called them fat acting like that won't have an impact on their self image.. how could a worker be like that? How horrible.. not only that but the place is dirty and infested with bugs, there were bugs flying all over and in the bathroom there were roaches.. they don't clean at all and the curtains were easy to see in.. I don't recommend going here for just that reason, but the other workers were nice, just not that bimbo lifeguard not doing her job..

I can't recommend it enough. I love that my girls got to play, horse back ride, swim and many other activities during the summer. My youngest daughter was born with a heart defect and they were great. The communication was always amazing. My daughter had a rough day and was inconsolable. When I got to daycare to pick her up I found my 1 year old in the office on the shoulder of the director as he was softly singing to her. He had no idea I was watching and she was fast asleep. I am completely delighted with the education and socialization that she receives during her camp experiences. She's made wonderful, lasting friendships with the other campers and really looks forward to every day. In a small camp like this, the staff makes or breaks it. This staff is unbelievable- in addition to being great leaders, truly show them kindness and love. There's great staff longevity too. We see the same smiling faces year after year. There are plenty of activities to keep the kids engaged all day long. The drop-off and pick-up is seamless. The facility itself is clean, organized and adorable. The kids get plenty of opportunities to play and move in the fresh air with plenty of shaded structure and indoor room when the weather dictates. The biggest indication for me that it's a great place is my daughter's unwillingness to leave at the end of the day. She begs daily to be in Aftercare!!  Please don't hesitate to check out Summer Hill Camp. I can't recommend it highly enough.
