Parents are not allowed to talk to their children on the phone or in person. I would not recommend this camp. It is very scary and they do not properly vet the camp counselors, nor cabin leaders.

We stayed in the cabins, ate in one of the cafeterias, and spent most of our time by the beach, in the wood shop, in the chapel (way too cold -- someone turn that air-conditioning down please!), and in the game room pavilion. The cabins were as clean as cabins could be with some bugs (it's summer camp, what do you expect?). One bathroom wasn't enough for a room of ten girls, though! The wood shop was cool, and the girls enjoyed hanging out on the beach nearby, jumping in the water or fishing from the pier. The game room pavilion had chairs and some games to play, but it wasn't as appealing as playing in the park, which was in the middle of everything. The cafeteria/kitchen staff was also very accommodating of my request for vegetarian food. The first year, I was too nervous about asking for special food since it was free, so I just dealt with it and ate meat for a week. The second year, there were more vegetarians among the camp volunteers, so we felt more comfortable asking for vegetarian food. They did a great job remembering us and offering alternative foods. The camp and conference center also has a lagoon, paddle boats, canoeing, a paintball arena, sand volleyball, a gym, some high-ropes course thing, and different paths through the woods for team-building or hiking. Great options and great, friendly staff. There's also a lot of other lodging options and other spots to dine, but our kids didn't spend their time there. I guess three camps could occur at the same time. It's just a summer camp spot, but it's a great spot. I'm looking forward to next year!

Meadowsweet Ranch…read more Wow! I cannot say enough good things about the staff and the program at Meadowsweet Ranch. I live over an hour away from Spring Grove, yet made the journey for my daughter who is an avid horse lover. She recently went for Spring Camp, and while it was only two days, she met other campers who have the same passion as her HORSES. She told me the day we left, "Mom hurry up! You need to sign me up for the summer before it is full!" She enjoyed riding, grooming and especially cleaning the hooves of the horses. I have always told her that riding a horse is a privilege and not a right. Horses need to be respected and that was fully reinforced at Meadowsweet Ranch. The safety of the children is priority, which is why the HORSE comes first. Crafts and activities planned with the other campers were appropriate, and the ranch feel is definitely welcoming. My only request is that I would have liked more feedback on the day of the camp to know what my daughter did that day. I guess no news is good news! Most importantly for me is that she LOVED it and we will definitely be back for on of the 3 summer sessions.

She talked about how much fun she has had and how much she has learned. She has been wanting to spend more time with the horses at the ranch. So we may have to sign her up for more lessons :) The staff & counselors are so kind, friendly, and wonderful! Thanks Meadowsweet Ranch for providing such a great experience for our daughter!

Me and my mom went to tour a camp called Phantom Lake YMCA Camp Children's camp in Waukesha County, Wisconsin. We went met staff and they learned about me. I showed up to camp 2 weeks later and the staff does not remember me (which is funny because it is the first week of camp). The staff member that toured me said "who are you" as my first impression. tThen later in the week a child age ten named ASPEN touch me in my private parts and grabbed me while I was in the shower. I was feeling so scared that I did not tell any camp members. When I got home that was the first thing I told mom and when she talked to camp they said " we have no record of this happening your child is lying". Nothing happen to the camper. Another mess at camp was counselors would change every night because of night meeting so annoying. I also was constantly being let down by adults for not holding up to there promises like I asked to shower in the heath persons shower and they said they would come on Friday I stood outside of my cabin waited 1 hours then had to go to the final night in my bathing suit because I had no time to change in to real clothes. The staff was so mean and are unnice to camper with mental disability's I has to be a physical disability for them to care. Also social worker will seam nice but will not hold any promises to kids with ADHD, Autism, and anxiety. The bad social worker is named Fiona.WORST CAMP EVER!!! Also camp counselor day Camp name CRICKET is horrible. She couldn't handle the stress of having children on her hands.

My daughter rides consistently and the prices are so affordable that I don't mind. She is being taught everything from grooming and tacking and riding to cleaning up, personal responsibility, safety, and riding etiquette. Every lesson is different. There are different types available for riders of different skill level, type, age, and approach. The stable owner and trainer is hands on, patient, funny and so respectful. I am just never anything but impressed with her and the team of workers and volunteers that help her out (including Husband Dean). We had our first birthday party there this year and it put things just up and over the top. I had to do a review. I cannot recommend this place any higher. Its a home away from home. 5 stars and beyond.
