My wife and I walked over from the nearby campground and were delighted by the food quality. We had a ribeye which came with baked potato, camp style beans and corn on the cobb. But the baked potato it came with was bleh l, the salad consisted of old lettuce and doused in ranch to cover for it and the corn was just cheap bag corn boiled in water. On top of the disappointing food, my waiter was extremely rude and uninviting. The cheap looking cow decor was not my cup of tea. All in all, you'd be better off waiting to get a steak elsewhere. They didn't get a single temp right, which is annoying because you expect a steakhouse to know how to cook steaks (all over cooked by at least one level) Lots of food/pricing average (better than we expected for their captive audience) 15% gratuity added automatically no matter what your party size...this could be a win for the restaurant, but when a restaurant does this, we generally do not add additional gratuity because we find it annoying-a tip is a choice for the customer-and we usually tip more than 15%. Server was attentive, but a little pushy when someone wasn't ordering fast enough and was convinced he knew more about our food preferences than we did. Let me preface this by saying there are barely any options for food in Tusayan. We came here for lunch after a long, strenuous hike in the Grand Canyon and I was craving a baked potato and beer. This place is extremely touristy. It's like if Thunder Mountain Railroad had a restaurant inside decked out with culturally insensitive Native American decor. The chicken dish even has a racist name that I don't want to repeat. I wasn't expecting much coming here based on the other reviews, so my bar was low. My dish was fine. The steak was chewy and lacked seasoning, but wasn't terrible. The baked beans were definitely canned beans with no seasoning added. My baked potato was good, but it's hard to mess that up. The highlight of the meal was my beer. I got the Grand Canyon American Pilsner. Tusayan needs some more options, and especially ones that are open for lunch. Small town, late night needed a bite to eat with the family wife and I got a steak sirloin and a filet mignion med rare and the steaks tasted like lighter fluid not clean meat no flavor... potato was overcooked, beans had way too much water on them and a wierd taste to them. I've had better cooking else where kids had chicken strips the strips overcooked and crisp and no flavor all plan. Disregarding the bathroom was nasty water on the floor no soap even after I've mention to them still no help. Worse experience for a family of 5 with a baby at nighttime will not come again ever. Not to mention the staff member wasn't very helpful did not deserve a 15% tip at all. Service was mediocre at best, little to no energy to help diners. I ate it without complaining but serving breaded shrimp without lemon is a cardinal sin, imo. They also served cornbread cold, without butter. Maybe they don't believe in condiments or something? Service was fine & we were seated immediately. The steak was cooked as I ordered & seasoned well. The beans were very mediocre. They had a decent house wine that was served in a teensy glass.
