Obviously there is more than one assistant doing the actual cleaning so one person's experience may differ from the next, but overall this is a great kid-friendly location for first-time patients. As you walk in, the children are welcomed with an open play area so they can automatically entertain themselves while the parents sing in and fill out paperwork. There was also a tv in the room but a movie wasn't playing, I'm assuming you would have to ask for assistance if you really wanted something put on for your child to watch. But our wait time was too short to even bother because as soon as I finished filling out the paperwork, we were called back for the teeth cleaning. My son was extremely cooperative and seemed very much at ease with getting his teeth cleaned so the assistant didn't need to calm him. I did notice other assistants offering sunglasses and chapstick/vaseline to other kids for their dry lips before starting the process, which wasn't offered to my son, but no big deal. Just good to know that it's available in case you want to have for your child. It was nice that my son was able to see/touch the cleaning brush before the cleaning started because the sound caught him off guard. But once he saw it was just like his battery toothbrush at home, he was comfortable again. After the cleaning, I was asked if I wanted to get x-rays for him and since it was his first visit, we got them done. Once the images were taken, Dr. Niethamer went over them with me and answered any questions I had. He is definitely very friendly and professional. Before heading out, my son was given a "goody" bag with a toothbrush, dental floss, stickers, and a treat of his choice from the Christmas tree they have in the room with little toys/surprises for the kids.

The waiting room was full of toys and she was instantly at ease and loved playing. The dental assistant was kind, gentle and talked to her at her level. Dr. Steve got the job done without making her cry or scarring her for future appointments. When their very quick exam was done, an employee took her to another play area where she played, colored, got to pick out a toy to keep and stickers. By the time I was done talking to the dentist and making her next appointment she almost refused to leave! I am so glad they are close by and so great with children.

Last May I was told she had 6 cavities and the total cost for me with my insurance would be almost $900. That included a $300 drug cocktail that the insurance did not cover. I went and got a second opinion with another pediatric dentist and she did have 3 cavities, one that was so small that he just wanted to watch it. He repaired the other 2 cavities with white fillings and my total cost was $140. HUGE difference.

We had a really good experience here. We hadn't been to the dentist in a while and was honestly a little nervous going in, but the whole team made it easier for us either from booking a first appt to coming back for future visits. The front desk was friendly and amazing! the wait time was short, and the dentist explained everything in a way that actually made sense. Made me feel at ease knowing the kid's will be at the right care. The cleaning was thorough but gentle, and they checked in a couple times to make sure the kid's was comfortable. The office itself was very clean, kid friendly, and organized, which we appreciated. Overall it just felt like they genuinely cared about their patients, not like we was being rushed through an appointment. Definitely glad I found this place and sister Portia from our LDS church recommended. We'll be coming back for any future visits. Our must have dentist in the valley. He went through the whole process of filling the cavity and placing the filling with literally no movement from my son. It was seamless!! They requested that I email the updated insurance information which I did. The following morning my daughters showed up for their scheduled appointment and were told their appointment had been cancelled because Blu Oasis didn't have their insurance information. The staff member told my daughters that a voicemail message had been left advising of this. This was a complete lie. No voicemail message had been left and Blu Oasis had received the insurance information via email. I called to ask why they cancelled the appointment and they couldn't bother to answer the phone or return my voicemail message. I scheduled with another dental practice in La Quinta and would suggest you do the same. Blu Oasis is rude, unprofessional, doesn't tell the truth and has no consideration for their patients' time. All they had to do was ask my daughters for their insurance cards when they arrived but they turned them away and lied about notifying about the appointment cancellation. Stay clear of this place!! Simply horrible.
