I've avoided the dentist for years because they always seem to like inflicting pain just poking around and nicking your gums. Not Dr. Beak. He is a master. Dr. Han (? not sure of the spelling) is very good too. We do not deserve them! Just had a root canal and a tooth extraction. No pain whatsoever. The assistants are also very nice and experienced. Me and my Family have been coming to Dr.Beak's Dentist office for years here in Joshua Tree. They have always done great work and treated us kindly and with respect. The front office ladies have been professional and pleasant. The other dentist Dr.Han the younger doctor in there has also done great work the dental assistance also do a great job backing up the dentist to make sure the procedures go well like Richard and the other great ladies who work with the dentist's in office. My children ages 5 and up have had good experiences here. My youngest loves her treasure box gift after she completes a great appointment. They also gave us a referral for a sedation doctor down below when my son could not get his filings done due to his autism. They are a very pleasant y and accommodating dentist practice. read more

Could not get their insurance paperwork submitted correctly to my insurer which caused untimely delays in my urgently-needed care. They seemed overwhelmed on the Administrative side of things. stay far away from this place. went in for a simple cleaning with an appointment time at 4pm and it reached 4:45 and i still did not get taken back so i proceeded to reschedule for another day @ 2:30pm and sat in the waiting room once again for over 30min and still no sign of getting taken back, so will be walking out AGAIN. going to a better dentist who doesn't overbook. do better. stop booking multiple people at the same time if you can't manage it. read more

We had a terrible experience with the Desert Hot Springs branch and foolishly called Joshua Tree thinking they would care but they did not. We have filed a grievance for whatever its worth. A manager named Lisa in the Desert Hot Springs office dropped the ball on our authorizations from insurance and after two months I called to see what was happening. I got screamed at, called a liar and told to find another dentist. I made sure the dentist himself knew he had this lunatic in his office treating patients like this but he was unfazed. I had a very bad experience in this office I was very nervous about getting a tooth pulled the person that came in to give me a shot to numb my face had no compassion he was hurting me and got mad because I said so he did not numb my face he think it after I kept telling them that my face was not numb over and over they proceeded to anyway try to pull my tooth I was extremely pain he broke off a piece and dropped it down my throat I started choking and puking they have no compaction whatsoever and told me to leave I kept telling him my face is not numb you can't pull out somebody's tooth when their face is not numb and they told me to leave I went to the emergency room they noticed my face was not numb there was no signs of having my face numb out they took x-rays of the broken tooth and said that it had passed my throat which it affected my vocal cord and scratched my throat because I was puking they said it passed to my intestines and I should be fine but this was a bad experience it gave me medicine so I would not puke anymore because they said it could more it could do more damage this is unprofessional and they purposely tried to hurt me because I was scared and I did not want them to remove a wisdom tooth along with the molar that was broken that's why he was mad that's why he treated me that way this is wrong and I called my insurance and I reported them do not go here​​ read more

If I could I would have gave this place negative stars! My mother went in for dentures and was left with no teeth for almost 4 months! Not only did they leave her without teeth,but they failed to give her antibiotics which could have saved her life! My mother died of septic shock because this dentist failed to prescribe her antibiotics! She asked him if she needed some antibiotics and the dentist said no you'll be fine! I have experienced some good outcomes with J.T. Dental, but unfortunately some treatment that definitely was not up-to-par. Many patients are low income so maybe Dr. B feels that they don't know the difference between good and inferior dentistry. The way some things are done here would not fly with a quality dental office. I have experienced pain while waiting for a permanent crown to be delivered because a sharp tooth prep was left to cut into my mouth without a temporary crown. I've experienced painful x-ray procedures because they didn't have the proper equipment. It is really a shame that a patient's discomfort is not a big concern. If I was a wealthy person, I would avoid this practice altogether. read more

The dentist is good but jennee who works at the front desk is horrible. She is rude she took my daughter in had her work for 2 weeks then refused to pay her it's ben a month and still no check all jennee can say is "I don't know anything " she rolled her eyes and shook her head at my daughter she came home crying often. Dr Baek pulled all of my teeth months ago. I am still waiting for the dentures. I have called a few dentists that accept Medi-Cal and they all told me that the dentures are made a lot quicker than Dr Baeks office. Dr. Baek's office staff couldn't care less about me. I was so pleased with the staff and service I got at Dr. Baeks office. I have a 5 yr. old so choosing a dentist was not easy for me since I am so picky and careful with who I let assist my baby girl. Her first appointment was wonderful and she wanted to go back asap lol She had to get some work done so I scheduled right away because I knew she would be in the best of hands here. She got the laughing gas for her first procedure and they made her feel so comfortable. I was so amazed at how well she did:) we go back soon and we are both excited Dr. Baek was referred to us. I went to Dr. Baek a couple times while living in Joshua Tree. The first time, I went in to have a filling replaced that fell out. I found that the staff was not very friendly and spoke very little to me, which would be fine if the dental work was quality. Seemed like they were trying to get people in and out as fast as possible with little attention to friendliness or detail. Unfortunately, after little more than a year and a half, the filling that I had replaced by Dr. Baek has already fallen out. This is not a cheap thing to have replaced again after a year and a half when fillings should last much much longer than this. Could be due to other factors I suppose, but I suspect poor dental work is the culprit. Definitely would not recommend. read more

This review is mainly about their office staff - Dr. Baek is a great dentist and it's unfortunate that he has such unprofessional office staff. I had been going to this dentist for 15 or so years and this year I decided to find a new dentist because their office staff is so bad. First of all, they kept putting me down as another patient. I have a difficult last name and I had to spell it out for the woman on the phone four times while booking an appointment. I came in on my appointment day and signed in on the clipboard - no big deal. I get to the chair and they pull up my (or what should have been my) records on the screen, and they are the records of someone else that happens to have the same first name as me, but a completely different last name and birthdate. The lady who made my appointment must have given up after I spelled my name out four times and just picked the first Ciera that popped up! I signed in with MY name on the clipboard, so how does this happen? I told the dental assistant that they had the wrong person on the screen. She asked me, "Are you sure?" Are you serious? She asked me what my name was, I told her, she left and came back, and put MY records on the screen. Great. But on my way out, they try telling me I owe them money, over $1000, turns out it was the other Ciera who owed money, not me. I had to make another appointment to get fillings done. They made it under the wrong name again. I knew this time because I called to confirm my appointment and the lady was unable to find one under MY name. I asked her to look up the name of the other Ciera, sure enough she finds MY appointment under this other person's name. I tried to explain to her what happened and she gets all defensive and tells me I need to bring in proof of my name change and insurance change! Finally after arguing with her for five minutes she realizes what happened and fixes the mistake, has to take all of MY information off of this other person's profile. After this, the name situation didn't happen again, but there's more... When I came in to do my fillings, the total was $60. I only had $32 in cash because I didn't think it would be any more than that. I told them I would need to go to the ATM and be right back. They FREAKED out, made me give them the money that I had before I left, and they were skeptical about me leaving for the ATM for some reason! I come back with another $30, and they don't give me back any change. I told them I gave you $32, they said no you only gave us $30. Since it was only $2 and my mouth was numb I didn't feel like arguing but it was pretty annoying of them to pocket some of my tip money that I earned at my minimum wage job where I get paid less than they do for just sitting on their butts all day! The last straw was the last visit I had where I had an appointment at 4PM and waited for 40 minutes meanwhile watching people who just walked in without an appointment get taken back before me. I finally said something to the lady at the counter who admitted that she didn't even look at the clipboard for the last hour and didn't know I had signed in. Wow, thanks. After that I found a new dentist. My new dentist requested my old dentist office to email them the xrays they had done on my teeth earlier that year and they said "we don't do that" and just printed the pictures out, which looked like sh*t, and made me drive 30 minutes to sign a piece of paper to receive these awful printed images of my teeth that my dentist couldn't even use, they just had to do new ones. This dentist office SUCKS! Hire better front desk people. I could do a better job than these pathetic people. read more

Does she not know about leaving personal matters at home n change the attitude n she calls herself n office manager! Then I go in the back n listen to how the doctors talk to their dental assistant! Haven't you heard about treat people the way you want to be treated! The office was so unprofessional I would never go back not to mention the long waits! Loved! Loved loved loved the staff and dentist, both dentist... They are caring attentive and the front desk girls are very helpful and have me feel comfortable. I recently went back in due to an extraction being so painful after days and they took care of me asap. I loved all the staff Brandy and all the dental assistants your guys are sweet thank your care. I have medi-cal so it doesn't cover all my treatments but im going back anyways and finish my treatment with carecredit financing. Thank you Joshua Tree dental. The wait in the lobby was 24 minutes, actual time in the dentist chair 7 minutes. My son is five, but he deserved an exam which he did not get. Only the top teeth were polished.They couldn't wait to get us out. They were very condescending when I asked questions. It is one of the most unprofessional operations I have ever seen.
