Ordered the fish chang fen. It was pretty hearty and I can tell why their chang fen is the highlight of this place. Soft silky chang fen with touches of fish fillet - and it was not a small amount. It is cheap and filling. Service was fast and not impolite. I would come back for their congee / dou jiang / you tiao. Busy for Sunday morning.

Amazing congee base, not salty or thirsty after having congee. This is my favorite place to come for congee. Dishes and rice rolls are made fresh to order. Opens until midnight, excellent choice for midnight snack cravings. Noodles are a bit on a softer side so try the noodle if you can accept soft noodles. I personally like al dente noodles.

If you want a fast, cheap, and hearty meal, come here. This spot specializes in congee, chang fen (rice rolls), and snacks/appetizers. My order: - Shrimp Congee - 8/10 (good for 2 people) - Olive and Pork Rice Rolls - 9/10 - Dough Fritters - 10/10 (very crispy, and fried to order) Service is fast, and the servers are attentive. It's gets busy but there are a decent amount of seats inside. A lot of people tend to do take out.

A pretty okay congee place with good menu selections available. Not bad in terms of price value. Freshly made to order. Better to call or go with UberEats for takeout as the place is a little cramped. Not the best place to sit and dine in. Walk up to the cashier to place your order. No complaints about that. Go for it if you are a congee person. Enjoy!

Chaotic during peak lunch hour on a Sunday, people waiting inside amongst the diners; including people/Uber drivers waiting for their orders, constant screaming of Uber orders ready for pickup. Staff then requests everyone waiting to dine in to write down their phone number on a piece of paper so they can call us?? why, we're all standing in line for them to see, go figure. Can pre-order on a paper menu while waiting to save some time. After a 15min a table finally opened up, hallelujah. Ordered the century egg/pork jook, fried dough and shrimp/beef rice roll. Jook not too watery or thick and maintained it's consistency throughout the meal. I just hate it when your jook starts out nice but then tends to separate and get watery towards the end. Rice roll was full of beef and shrimp, rice skin thin, smooth and silky. Fried dough cooked perfectly, crispy and chewy/doughy, perfect compliment for dipping into the jook. Food was great and if you don't mind eating while surrounded by impatient Uber drivers and people waiting for an open table., then this is the place for you, hallelujah. Probably better to avoid Sundays

I've been to a few Yin Ji Chang Fen locations and the rice noodles have been consistent. They are warm, silky, soft and comforting to eat. The filling to rice noodle ratio was perfect. Service is also quick. We were offered complimentary hot tea. Ordering is done thru a QR code scanned on the table. However you pay with a staff member.

great place for congee and rice noodle rolls! everything there is super affordable and there's a great selection of different ones to choose from. We tried a couple different dishes: shrimp (6.75), bbq pork (6.75), dough (6.25) and the egg noodle rolls (5.25). We already tried the pork (7.25) and chicken congees (6.99). Everything was super affordable and tasty and there's such a great selection! We shared with 5-6 people total and still full afterwards. Definitely would come back

A spot for either b'fast, lunch, dinner or night snacks..... the food meets your craving at anytime. Congee, Chinese rice noodles, cold/hot drinks. What surprise me is how cool this small joint is, conveniently located off Hwy 7. Ordering using apps or the conventional way; either way the establishment service is up to satisfy its patrons. Kept passing this restaurant and finally decided to give it a try for a late lunch. On entering, we were promptly attended to and seated. This is a small restaurant but comfortable. We were promptly served tea in a paper cup and given a paper bowl with a plastic spoon for eating. This was unusual. There are also disposable chopsticks on the table. We had the following: Shrimp congee: Very good. You could taste the shrimp flavour, even the colour had the tone of cooked shrimps. We received 6 large shrimp with the congee. Wow. This was nice to see. Needed a little salt. This was on the smaller size, but good enough. Dough Stick: OK - came served in a brown bag. BBQ pork rice noodle roll: Noodles nice and fresh. The serving size was good. Taste good. Needed some salt though. Rice Wrap: Served in a takeout container. I was too full to eat this, however, the other person had and felt the rice was not fresh. Overall, this is a good place to pop in for a quick eat - good variety of options. Will return.

First time trying this, we got the Chinese doughnut, the chicken congee, and the brisket noodle roll, first off this place was packed at 9 am which is like wow, fast efficient service, the congee was good but probably won't order again and the doughnut was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the brisket was so tender and packed with flavour the noodles had a very soft texture it melts in your mouth, and the sauce with the noodles was amazing I think they cook it really simple really get the natural flavour of the beef, this is one of the best noodle rolls I've tried so far the dim sum place I usually go to is really good but this comes really close I can't believe I've never heard of this before phenomenal food

Last week, I was browsing eateries on my Ritual app, as one does at midnight, and found Yin Ji Chang Fen as a new addition. I have been craving all things dim sum as of late. I wanted some rice noodle rolls and placed an order last Wednesday while I was out running errands. This place specializes in congee and rice noodle rolls. We've been experiencing a heatwave in the GTA that the last thing I wanted to do was down a hot bowl of congee. Congee is more a comfort food to me when it's cooler outside. I wanted rice rolls. My rationale was that I'd be less sweaty eating them. I ordered the following items: - Sticky rice wraps - Sweet cruller - Sweet corn rice noodle roll - Beef brisket stew with rice noodle role - Barbequed pork with chives rice noodle role I placed my order in Whitchurch-Stouffville. My order was ready in fifteen minutes. Cool! This eatery is in a plaza across from CF Markville Mall. It's a few stores down from Fairstone Financial, which I haven't set foot in for nearly two years. There are exclusive parking spots in front of this store for Yin Ji Chang Fen customers. I backed into a spot and walked in. There is a sign that states to wear a mask. It's mandatory in Markham as of this Friday, so this place was ahead of the game. I walked in and a nice man said hi. I indicated that I was picking up a Ritual order and said my name. It was ready for me. He turned the huge bag around with my order printed out. Yep, that was mine. I thanked him, took some pictures of the interior, and wished him a great day. I drove home. I had a virtual Yelp event to do, so I kept my food warm as I sweated away doing a dance workout. So much for not sweating... haha! Anyway, the workout was perfect. I was hungry and ready to dig in. I started with the beef brisket stew. It smelled so good. It was carefully packed in a container and the gravy never leaked out. I poured it all over the whisper-thin, but wide, rice noodle. I then had a bite. I was in heaven! I have been craving beef brisket for a while. It was flavourful and the sauce was divine. The beef brisket was tender. It was the perfect combination. I love corn. I mean, I LOVE corn. I had to get the sweet corn rice noodle roll. The corn kernels were sweet and crispy. I have never had corn in a rice noodle roll. So perfect. So simple. So good! I actually poured the beef brisket gravy over it. I highly recommend trying this move if you do order these two flavours. I had the sweet cruller. It was still warm and crispy when I got to it. Like a fresh bagel that has just come out of the oven, I can eat a sweet cruller out of the fryer without anything on it or dipped in anything. It was delicious! It was chewy, crispy, and yummy. It has been eons since I last had one. I had one of the sticky rice wraps. Yes, workouts make me hungry. It was packed with pork filling. I miss dim sum so much. Having this sticky rice wrap made those feelings disappear. It was delightful. I had the barbequed pork and chive rice roll for breakfast the following day. The container that each rice roll comes in is perfect to shove into the microwave and heat up. The rice noodle roll was still yummy the next day. The barbequed pork is cut thin, but you get a lot. The same goes with the chives. It was so different. I liked it a lot. I am close to giving this place a perfect score. What is holding me back is the price. My beef brisket rice noodle roll was nearly $7. It's not cheap dining here, but it is worth it for the yumminess that ensues. I will need to come back and try more items on the menu. I'll definitely come back for congee when it's not scorching hot outside. (207)

Believe it or not.. but my Husband and I ate here 3 days in the row! We were only visiting Canada for 3 days and we had this everyday. It's that good and it's quick too! Morning time is very busy and afternoon it'll slow down. (It was also the weekend when we visit) The second day I came with my family and we had a large group. The restaurant is very small and not really meant for large groups but it worked for us. Of course we order the Chang fen and that was so thin and did not disappoint! I hate when my Chang fen is super thick and so much batter. This place was good! Just the right amount of protein and batter. The congee was very good too but super hot even after couple minutes of cooling down, it was still hot so be careful! The cold fish skin dish was good and I don't eat fish like that unless it's sushi. The fried fish skin was good too but not as much flavor. I wish I took a photo of our table when it was filled with food but everyone was just excited to eat! Recommend 100%! Also, after you pay you get a 10% off coupon for future visit

They definitely gave us all the pieces of the 3lbs lobster. The gai lan had a bitter aftertaste, which is common for this vegetable. I wished they had a way to get rid of that. They were generous with the amount of beef and was well marinated. The cut wasn't that great, but that is to be expected. I don't think they added much MSG or at least used good quality ones, as we did not feel overly thirsty later in the evening. They give free daily soup and dessert. What we were most impressive was with the service. The waiters were very attentive, changing our plates twice during our 1ish hour meal. The also gave us wet wipes and more napkins without us requesting it. They even offered us additional soup, which we declined as we were quite full.

When they provided with a table it was right next to an exterior door, with people going in and out. The was a cold draft, we even had to tell the hostess/manager, if they could provide a divider to divert the draft from hitting our table. We ordered 9 dim sum dishes, one be Roasted Pig Mixed Cold Jellyfish, which was $23.80. I had the idea that it would be a fair portion. When it came, I was shocked, it was only 6 pieces of Roasted Pig. When I spoke with the manager about the portion size, he commented "for that price it is fair". There was not apologies and walked away, nor was it written on the menu. If I had known it was only 6 pieces (size of your index and middle finger put together). I would not have ordered it. If you want to have Roasted Pig, you can get better deals else where. Also, ordered Marinated Chicken Feet for $13.98, when it came to table, it was also a disappointment, part of the chicken feet was dark in colour, not even sure if it was even edible or not. Another dim sum dish that I have order was the steamed chicken with fish maw. The chicken was okay, but there was only two small pieces of fish maw, (the size of each piece was 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch). The order 6 dim sum dishes that was order was mediocre, tasted better from other Dim Sum restaurant. When I received the bill for the meal it came out to be $119.50, they even had included the tip. They didn't even give me an option weather a tip was even worthy. I will definitely not be returning to this place. I definitely do not recommend anyone to come to this restaurant. I would consider blacklisting this restaurant. The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.

They are known for their sauerkraut fish soup that comes with unlimited self serve rice on the side. Servers were attentive, spacing of the seating and tables were tight. Often times people kept brushing up against my chair while getting up to go get their rounds of rice. Although not a deal breaker, was annoying while trying to enjoy your food. The portions are big enough for 2 if you get a large, but since it was our first time we wanted to try 2 different soups. Here's what we got: Chicken wings 4/5 - Came out raw the first time after we bit into it. But quickly flagged a server to let them know how this issue. They brought us a new one shortly after that was perfectly cooked, juicy and crispy on the outside. Laotan boiled fish with pickled cabbage and chili 4/5 - Their number one classic so we had to try. It's sour and spicy with the right amount of kick to it. Basa fish filets were also tasty. Came out luke warm. Princess's tomato fish 4/5 - Packed with tomato flavour. Savoury and paired well with the basa fish filet. Came with bean curd noodles as well. Came out luke warm. Easily would be a five star review if both soups that we got came out piping hot rather than lukewarm. Regardless, a great spot for a quick in and out meal.

If you break it down, it's actually such a good deal: the snakehead upgrade is usually +$3 each and their handcrafted drinks run around $6. No extra charge for any of that with this combo, so... why not? I got the scallion pickled cabbage fish soup (mild spice) and my friend went for the Laotan boiled fish (a bit spicier). For the snack, we picked half Taiwanese sausage and half glutinous rice cake to get both savoury and dessert vibes. When the bowls came out, they looked huge, but the portion was kinda deceiving... it's a very wide, shallow bowl, so the amount of actual soup wasn't as generous as it looked. For a fish soup restaurant, I definitely expected a deeper bowl. But the fish itself was fresh with that nice bouncy texture, plus vermicelli and a solid amount of pickled veggies. They also have a self-serve rice station with both white rice and multigrain rice. The rice cookers even have little signs showing when a new batch is cooking, which I thought was cute and convenient. Overall, flavour wise, it was solid and the promo made it worth the visit. But I am not sure if I'd come back again.

Meaty pork strips coated with thin batter, each piece is wrapped in a glossy sauce and sprinkled with white sesame. Perfect dish to go with rice. Double Cooked Pork Slices: Classic Sichuan-style dish. The pork belly is first boiled, then stir-fried again with chili bean paste and green bell pepper. Very flavorful and savoury, another great dish to go with rice. Soy Sauce Fried Rice: One of my fav childhood dishes, and they delivered very well. It's such a huge portion that we could only finish it in two days. Service was great, considerate and friendly. They even pour water for you before you sit down and pack up the leftovers for you after you finish. You might have to wait if you don't have a reservation, but the turnaround is pretty fast. Wait list is old school...someone writes your name and number in a notebook and you are called when your table is ready. The interior is reminiscent of the old school taverns you see in those old Chinese movies where the traveller has spent days walking or on a horse and comes upon a tavern where the interior is all wooden tables and benches. Dining style and dishes are all family style. You order a couple of dishes and then add rice. Spice level can be adjusted and even at 'less' the heat level was high. Definitely generous use of Szechwan peppercorns! Food is very flavourful and depending on preference some might find the oil level high. The clientele is mainly Mandarin speaking and if you are Asian they will immediately communicate in Mandarin with you but I did see the staff switch to English where needed. Service was patient and attentive.
