Great Wings and More…read more Mad Flavorz is hard to describe. First and foremost, it's a wing shop - a very good wing shop. The wings are big, chunky, meaty, tender and smothered in a variety of unusual (and unusually tasty) Flavorz. I highly recommend the bone-in Mad Flavorz Bourbon Wings - a lot of flavor with a balance of sweet, heat and tang. I'm running out of adjectives, so I will simply say that these are some of the best Wings I ever ate. As the name would imply, it's also a Lounge with a full service bar, relaxed atmosphere super friendly service and extensive list of beers. It doesn't get much better than a pile of world-class wings and an ice cold Red Stripe. We were impressed with the diversity of the menu - everything from Burgers and Hoagies to Salads and Seafood. The Coconut Shrimp was institutional but delicious. The Specialty Sides are as good as the Wings.. The French Toast & Chicken Tenders Plate was a mixed bag. The Toast was disappointing (not restaurant quality), but the three good-sized Chicken Tenders were nicely done - crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The Fish Whopper Sandwich lived up to its name. The very large filet was golden brown, crispy and served on a fresh soft bun. Add a side of perfectly fried Okra and you have a satisfying meal. The Jamaican Beef Patty - much like an oversized empanada - had a nice crispy shell filled with flavorful minced beef. It was extra tasty with a little of the Cajun Jamaican Jerk Sauce. My biggest issue with Mad Flavorz is that they are often out of several menu items and beers (Lobster Pops, Banana Pudding, Cheesecake, Red Stripe, Modello to mention a few). I hope this is a temporary situation. Having said that, I still very much enjoy eating at this somewhat quirky eatery.

Yes, you can prepare and assume you will have a large crowd by having more people working. Those who were working, moved slower than snails. I put my order in at 5:47pm and at 6:50, I asked about my order which I was told they were working on it then. At 7:19pm I asked for my money back as I still hadn't received any of my order after being told 25 minutes. The order I placed was $58. If you want us to spend that kind of money, you need to have better business skills. While I was asking the owner for my money back, she was telling others it was a 45 minute wait after I had waited 90 minutes and nothing. Yes, I spoke up and said "I was told 25 minutes and 90 minutes later still waiting. It'll be longer than 45 minutes" I told her I wanted my money back and she accused me of having an attitude and that I should be patient. I repeatedly asked her for my money back and I have yet to see it as she told me she would refund it and to leave.

There Jim Rivers has been setting up his steel hot dog stand for nearly 14 years now, and is there almost everyday beginning at 11:30 - he misses some days because he also sets up at the North Carolina State Fair each year. He steams his weiners - Red Hots (neon red Southern weiner)for $1,50, Nathans All Beef for $2.00, Jalapeno (with the pepper already in the weiner) for $2.50, and a Sausage dog, also for $2.50. His toppings(whatever you want at no additional charge) include mustard, ketchup (ugh!), chili, onions, slaw, mayo (double ugh!), cheese, sauerraut, red onion (foo foo), and relish (we get visitors from the far north). The Red Hot is your basic Southern Chili dog with a weiner of questionable parentage, chile, onions and/or slaw, on a nice, soft bun. This is a very good hot dog. The chili is not home made since the All Knowing, All Seeing Wake County government has decided that only brick and mortar restaurants can prepare such items in their duly and regularly inspected kitchens - this apparently is true even if the rating is not particularly good. Jim uses Patterson's Grand Slam All Beef Chili, which is available in 5 pound tubs or #10 cans. This is very good commercially prepared chili, right up there with Matinee brand used by Allen & Son in Chapel Hill. The Nathan's All Beef hot dog with chili, mustard, and Jim's slaw is an outstanding slaw dog - one of the best I've tried, and I've tried more than a few. The quality of the weiner reals comes thru, and is very well showcased by the soft bun, tasty chili, and not too sweet mayo based slaw. On my next visit, I'll try the Jalapeno dog and the Sausage dog instead of the All Beef - well, probably in addition too it. Jim is friendly and personable, the service is quick, the pricing reasonable - there is no seating available, but sitting in an airconditioned auto munching several dogs ain't at all bad.
