This place is tasty!!! A great Ma and Pa shop (gotta support their fab cooking), although be warned...it's hidden behind a tree in an outlet shopping place. We couldn't see it from afar and had to guess and check it out. Nevertheless, I ordered mul neangmyun and my sister had bibim neangmyun...which was delicious, considering she just came back from Seoul and I from San Diego/LA. They served it with some yummy beef broth in a kettle on the side. The soondubu, jigaes, and pulgogi smelled tempting from spying on other ppl's orders. I have been going to this place since at least 1994 and there is nothing spectacular about it. Its been owned by the same people with the same food. BUT! this place has the best sul lung tang in the Washington D.C. area. Yes. this place beats all of the korean places in VA. And yes I really think this place has better sul lung tang than Gahm Mi Oak in NYC. (i think they are in NJ now). but nothing else! don't eat the banchan (cuz it sucks) don't eat the naegmyun or yukhaejang or whatever. just the sul lung tang. maybe the haemul pajun. but thats it. don't eat anything else here. this restaurant did not last this long because of their vast menu. it has flourished over 1 thing. and that is SUL LUNG TANG. if you're fiending for some pho on a cold brisk day or a wicked hangover, try this place. you might be in for a surprise. read more

Noodles: GREAT Mandu (dumplings): great (and homemade) The soups are delicious---great beef broth. No MSG used. Besides the lack of a good diversity of ban chan, this place is definitely hardcore good Korean food. It's tucked away in the corner of a shopping plaza, so you'll have to kind of search for it. Plus the fact that the sign is only in Korean and had part of the lighting not working, would make it rather hard for a non-Korean speaker to find this place. But once inside, you'll get the no-frills good Korean vibe. When I visited, it was mainly an older Korean crowd. Menu is in English, so non-Korean speakers can get by just fine. Recommendations: neng myun (cold noodle soup), bi bim neng myun (spicy cold noodle) and mandu (fried dumplings). This is a gem that my husband and I found. Friendly staff, yummy food and good atmosphere. The side dishes are yummy as well. The taste are better than other Korean restaurant we have visited before. I love Korean food, and while I usually venture to the dark side of the Potomac (aka Virginia) to eat it, there are a few good places in Maryland. This place is in the crappy strip mall area of Aspen Hill, hidden in a corner near the DMV. Don't let the sketchy keep you--inside it is full of tasty eats. While the menu doesn't really offer many or much in the way of BBQ items, they have really amazingly good spicy soups/stews/casserole type dishes. I think this is going to be my new go-to for winter time comfort soups! I also love that it's all family style serving with big tables and actual chopsticks (instead of the cheap, disposable ones). read more

Okay, so I had a sore throat this morning, and I really needed some hot noodle soup--and the first thing that came to mind, Sul Lung Tang (~$8). I was determined to find the best place in Rockville area for this--and ta-da! it is here at Yet Gol. They gave generous portion, and if you add $1 for extra meat, they give you an even bigger portion. Definitely will fill you up for the rest of the afternoon. Not only does it come with rice here, it comes with strong kimchi, and two vegetable dishes. I asked for extra scallions, and they gave me a nice additional portion. It was very nice of them. The service was actually pretty good too (maybe because there was nobody else there on a Monday afternoon), but still, the waitress was warm and friendly, like a nice Korean grandmother. The restaurant is pretty small but I liked the interior. Nice Korean face masks and flag fans hung up on the wall. Not bad at all. it does have a television that is silent playing in the background.There also was a nice warm glow from the lighting, or maybe it was the delicious warm feeling from the Sul Lung Tang. I consider this one step up from the nearby Pho restaurants (bc Sul Lung Tang is now my new "pho" aka hot soupy noodle/rice soup.) My friends have been raving about this place in recent weeks, so I decided to check out what the fuss was about. Had some difficulty finding this place, cause they have no English sign, LOL. Maybe they aren't expecting foreigners. For others like me, it's the corner restaurant near the dollar store and the subway restaurant, with two korean characters on top. I seriously had doubts about what I was going into, since the entire shopping center is so run down, ghetto looking. It was a hole in the wall type place, so we both quipped that it felt we were in a mysterious Asian shop in the movies, where some crazy old master resides in the back, mastering the perfection of taste. Anyway while we were joking, we were greeted by a friendly waitress, and we asked for recommendation. She recommended we try Bibimbap and Yukejang and Jeyuk Bokkum. We've been to NOVA too many times, and have eaten too much Korean BBQ, but I haven't tried this side of Korean. Bibimbap was excellent, you mix these salads with rice and chile sauce and it's very sesame tasting but excellent. Though this was enhanced by Yukejang, which is shredded beef soup. It's unlike anything I've had before. Closest would a Honduran soup I've had years ago, but really strong, spicy shredded beef soup. It goes really well with Bibimbap. The Jeyuk Bokkum was the same pork BBQ in Korean BBQ places, one that's marinated in the red chile sauce. It's spicy, sweet and it was served on a fajita plate, and delicious. We didn't order them, but we got a bunch of freebie side dishes, including a kimchi pancake. Between the two of us, it disappeared within a minute. We joked that it was kimchi crack pancakes. Oh my god, I'm getting water mouth cravings just thinking about it. The biggest surprise of all was the price. I'm used to paying Benjamins for Korean BBQ places but our bill ended up being like a trip to burger king. No wonder this little place is trending so much now. read more

I love Korean food. I love this place. It's located in Glenmont shopping center in the deep corner. My favorite dishes include Soon-Doo-Boo (soft tofu soup), yook-ge-jang (spicy beef soup), Bibim nang myun (cold spicy noodles, Yett Gol specialty), home made dumpling. If you are a vegetarian, you should order chap chae without beef, haemul pajeon (if you can eat seafood). I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

BEST SUL LUNG TANG IN MARYLAND!!! I can only rate the sul lung tang since that's the only thing I order. Call me boring, but I call it "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"! When it's a cold blustery day or if I am sick and have the sniffles, Yet Gol's sul lung tang will perk you right up. I always feel so much better after having that rich, flavorful, and delicious soup and all the panchan (kimchi, beansprouts, etc) only make it even better. It's definitely not the classiest place; the location is in a strip mall that has definitely seen better days and sometimes feels really sketchy, the service can be iffy, the inside is not that well-lit, and there's a random disco ball on the ceiling. But seriously, I go out of my way to have that soup. I have cravings for that soup. The soup haunts my dreams during the wintertime. If you are a newbie, you must know that you have to season your own soup. I actually prefer that because i am very sensitive to overly salty foods. It's nice to be able to have that control. If you taste the soup without putting a little salt, you'd probably call me a liar for loving this place because it's bland without it. Just be careful if you don't know how much to use; my ex just dumped it in and couldn't eat it because it was too salty. read more

I came here on a Sunday afternoon and the location was easy to get to by driving. It's also about a 8-10 minute walk from the Glenmont Station. The restaurant is located in shopping center and tucked away by a corner with an easy-to-read sign "Yett Gol". The restaurant was surprisingly empty, but clean and a TV screen was playing the latest shows in Korea. A woman greeted us and we were seated right away. Similar to Korea, you already have a set of utensils to one side and water can be replenished on your own. The menu is simple and offers a variety of dishes. I ordered the Tang Su Yook (Sweet and Sour Pork) and Naengmyun (Cold vinegar noodles). After she ordered, she brought out a variety of korean side dishes which tasted just like my mom's cooking and she even brought us a korean vegetable pancake which is a savory, doughy appetizer that had scallions and onions with kimchi bits. The Tang Su Yook came out next which was topped with a sweet and sour sauce along with chopped cucumbers, onions, and carrots. The meat was crunchy and you could taste that it was cooked in fresh oil. The dish was enough to feed two or three people! The Naengmyun came out in a cold broth with thin noodles topped with slices of radish, pear and brisket. You can also add spicy mustard, vinegar, or a gochujang (korean red sauce paste) based on your taste. All of it was refreshing and we enjoyed it for all under $30! If you're looking for something other than your typical korean bbq try this place out and you won't be disappointed with the authentic korean dishes the restaurant has to offer. read more

Love this hole in the wall! Great food and fast service. The mandu (dumplings) are handmade by the owners, something you rarely see anymore. And they're good! The kimchi jeon is a great appetizer. The bulgoki was just okay but the chicken stir fry and fried pork with sweet and sour sauce were both excellent. The fiancé and I came here after we were in search for something warm.. Something different. I told him about this place years ago but he was anti- try new things before. I guess he's a changed man because he was okay about trying this place out, even though it's located in this shady shopping center. He ordered the soulongtang and I ordered the yukkaejang. Well.....yukkaejang is his face and he ended up taking my dish lol. Both were good. I think I'm not a fan of soulongtang. It was good, but not something I'd seek out. It isn't very flavorful. Had a mild flavor and then you add salt to it. My fiancé added the pepper paste they gave us and still not much flavor. Yukkaejang was very very good though. It was served in a roaring hot stone pot (fiancé said they don't usually serve this way). It was filled with beef, egg, noodles and other goodies. The fiancé says this dish is usually more watered down and doesn't have as much stuff in it. The broth was very tasty. Everything in the dish was good. I could tell he enjoyed the yukkaejang more than the soulongtang. So we Traded -__- lol both were good but the yukkaejang had much more flavor and was more interesting to eat. Well..... He devoured it. Ate non stop for a few mins and bam, it was finished. Lol I was surprised. So with that said, I think we will def be coming back sooner than later. I'm so happy to have a good Korean restaurant nearby to rely on! Previously, my family would always make the trip down to Annandale for good Korean food, because it's so hard to find in Maryland! No longer is this the case!! My mom and I waited out that CRAZY RIDICULOUS hail and rain thunderstorm last night to eat naengmyun here! And it was worth it! It's located in kindof the middle of nowhere (tells you where I live near, huh...), where the most I've ever come to this dinky strip mall is maybe the CVS when the CVS I like better doesn't have what I'm looking for in stock. It's in the very corner, almost hidden so it's difficult to see. There wasn't too much in terms of sidedishes, but you don't need a lot; as long as the ones you got are good! And I really liked the kimchi here! They also came out with a complimentary pancake, which was nice of them. My mom and I both got the mool naeng myun, which came out pretty fast. The broth was a little strong and not very cold, but when we asked for ice, they immediately brought out a giant pitcher full of ice. The noodles were really good though! Chewy and thin! Just the right consistency for naengmyun. Service was fairly fast and attentive - a little unfriendly though. We also had a small problem at the end with receiving a copy of the receipt. The owner, I believe, came out and greeted customers and asked how the food was and was very friendly to other customers while we were waiting for our food. However, she didn't come and talk to us personally when we got our food. The atmosphere is very ... casual Korean. They had two TVs, only one was on. It was some Korean talk show, with English subtitles. It was a nice way to pass the time while waiting for the food. Overall, solid food, okay service. 3.5 stars. My mom says their oxtail soup is good too, so I want to come back and try that too and might rerate then. read more

We are usually big fans of Kimchi at most other Korean places, but in this case did not enjoy any of the offerings. There were plenty of other folks in the restaurant, so someone else must like this place, but we will not be going back. I love this place! My friend took me to this place while we were coming out of the MVA. When you get inside you can get the sense of a Korean place, the employees are very friendly and the food is delicious. I always go there for kimchi soup which is my favorite. Three stars for effort and execution. Located in a dumpy strip mall in upper Wheaton, one could walk by this place and not think twice. I stumbled across Yett Gol by accident, looking for a cheap quickie while driving thru the area. Although I've been spoiled by exceptionally-prepared K-food in SoCal, this place serves a decent sul lung tang, with crunchy pickled fermented accoutrements. Great little gem in the middle of Glenmont. The shopping center itself is not the prettiest, but this restaurant serves great food. The service was great. I came here for the bone broth when I was sick and I have not stopped thinking about it. Love this place. Not much to look at though they've upgraded. Go for the soups, warming and lovely. The sul long tang with a floating bed of sliced scallions in a bone broth with beef and bean noodles is great. They recently added options of tripe or brisket or both; I get both. The ban chan never changes; it's good but a variety would be better. Staff is warm and welcoming, I think it's a family place. Also liked the tofu seafood stew, which has a kick to it. Know that the soups are under seasoned; salt bowls, vinegar and chili paste are provided to season to taste. I'm here about once a week. read more

I listened to the other Yelp reviewers before checking this place out. I love love love Oxtail soup and crave it regularly. Didn't deviate from the menu and ordered their MEAT oxtail soup because I don't like tripe. Their meat was soft and chewy. However, the broth leaves a lot to be desired. I prefer my broth extremely rich and flavorful but it was very light and slightly bland. I added the red paste that they give you with the soup. THIS made things a lot better--so add that in! It makes it slightly spicier, but it definitely tasted better afterwards. My search for the best sullungtang in the DMV area continues!! read more

This place is the very definition of a charming hole in the wall. It is tucked away in glenmont mall and when I arrived after an exhausting day it was great to be in the quiet, simple setting. The manager was very friendly and got me settled quickly. I ordered the bibim bap, a large bowl of shredded beef, various vegetables, fried egg sitting on a bed of rice. Finally, a genuine Korean restaurant. It's not a fancy place, but the staff is very nice, and the food is *solid*. The fried mandu was tasty and you get a pretty generous portion that's easily shared amongst 2-4 people as an appetizer. Panchan was simple stuff but good, especially the kimchi. My husband gave the dolsot bibimbap a thumbs up, and I thought my mul naeng-myun was above average. I would definitely come back to try some of their other dishes. I'm a Korean and I know authentic Lorena food so the rating might seem low but overall it was slightly less than okay. The side dishes like kimchi were not so great and were a little too salty. I got the cold noodles which were okay but the noodles were over cooked. The jjun that comes with dinner was pretty good. The service was okay. Our server checked up on us once and wasn't really helpful if you don't really know what anything is or what you want.
