Unfortunately, the service was inconsistent this time. At moments, it felt a little rude, and we felt like we were being watched closely rather than welcomed. My aunt recently had surgery and wasn't able to eat because she was fasting, and the atmosphere made her feel especially uncomfortable. We've come here many times before, so this experience was honestly a shock. Now that I'm thinking about it, we had to wait a really long time for the grill change! I completely understand that it's an establishment and there are certain rules and expectations, but I still think customers should feel comfortable and welcomed. The food is still great, but after this experience, I don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon. We also explained this ahead of time to the manager.

The inside is really homey with wood tables, benches and decor. We got the seafood pancake and bibim naengmyeon which hits the spot so hard in the summer. It comes with some sauces for you to customize as you wish (horseradish, vinegar etc) Since the buckwheat noodles can be hard to chew they offer to cut the noodles for you table side. It's a super refreshing option since the broth is partially like a frozen slush and topped with crunchy veggies like cucumbers and carrots. The portions here are generous and give plenty of food. The seafood pancake was packed with seafood. Everything also comes with a variety of small side dishes, usually pickled items like kimchi etc.

We had two kids with us, so we couldn't order anything too spicy. The japchae and mandu were tasty, but the lollipop wings deserved a stage of their own. Boy, were they delicious! The portions are generous, parking is sufficient, and the staff were attentive. We'll definitely be back to try their hand-pulled noodles!

We were told to find a table on the other side of the restaurant (like self seating...see picture) but then asked to move. We were in a section with no one, which isnt an issue if the service is consistent (it wasnt and busy, we were their 3rd table) They checked on us once but I had to flag them down to order or ask questions. We ordered the Crystal noodles with shredded beef & vegetables (41) And the Fried rice with vegetable (10). The fried rice comes with the bean sauce which i didn't know (not listed on the menu I had) and contains pork. When i attempted to get a new version, it took 3 staff members asking why. The, what I assume to be the manager, said she would take it off the bill after I said I DONT EAT PORK... I was so underwhelmed that I packed the rest up just so I could go home and try to "doctor it up" myself with some seasoning and pepper. Fast forward...even the remix at home couldn't save it. The food was just not giving. The service, however, was quick, and the staff seemed kind. There was definitely a language barrier though, which made it hard to ask questions or get recommendations, and that took away from the experience a bit. As for the decor, it's a pretty large venue with a standard setup. Nothing particularly memorable besides the occasional Korean imagery throughout the space. Overall, I really wanted to enjoy this spot, but the food just missed the mark for me.

Would recommended Mahdang in Rockville much more or even going to a DC Korean spot like Anju if you want to pay premium prices. At least the DC Korean spots have the quality for the premium. Or just make the drive to NoVA. It seems like this spots "good reviews" are severely outdated. Their website touts that the restaurant is a small business with lots to show for their name but they don't deliver on any end of the good food spectrum. I also had the bean curd soup, which was fantastic and packed with a great spicy kick. My soju limeade was a bit too sweet yet still refreshing. The place is great just maybe a bit too dark. So here's some background information because I have never heard of this place before: Bibibop has been described as "an Asian take on Chipotle." Casual eatery providing customized bowls, rice and salads along with a selection of Asian-inspired toppings. mixed rice Bibimbap meana (mixed rice), sometimes romanised as bi bim bap or bi bim bop, is a Korean rice dish... Our waiter provided some hand wipes so we could clean our hands off afterwards. Yukhoe: 3/5, this was sweeter than I expected, and the sugar/nuts/chili basil overpowered any beef flavor. Chadolbaegi Fried Rice: 4/5, great smoky flavor but I wish the butternut squash had been cut bigger to enjoy more with each bite. More pork also would've been nice. Half chikin (4/5) - why do they call it chikin? It made me think it wasn't real chicken like what veggie grill calls their fake chicken. Anyway, it was messy but it was crispy and hot - it was fine. I've had better. 3. Lobster steamed egg (1/5) - the lobster was rubbery and I'm not a big fan of mixing sweet and savory together and for me, the sweet peppers ruined the entire dish. For me, the dish as a whole was less than the sum of its parts. 4. Ssam (5/5) - this dish saved the rest of the meal. The meat was tender the pear was nice and refreshing but to be honest, I consider this hard to mess up as long as the meat is good.
