Would not recommend dining in this restaurant. We were the only customers at 7pm on a Saturday night. We pulled up and saw young people surprised to see us. Our young waitress had a wine glass and drank from it quick. Then we walk in and it seemed normal. But after we ordered it was out of control with those 3 teenagers on phones and broadcasting some kind of social media interaction. They were extremely loud and obnoxious while we tried to enjoy our date. It was an expensive date. The food was delicious but the atmosphere was torture. The boss didn't seem to have control over his people. We left 10 mins after we got our food. The teens were unbearable to be around. We have teens of our own and this was our date night. Food is always great at Yessica's...Superb. service is minimal to marginal....waited an hour to get the food....our waiter was doing the country club routine....pay attention to those tables ordering drinks and let everyone else wither on the vine. waited 20 minutes to get sugar for the iced tea.....every other table got complimentary chips and salsa....we didn't. asked about that and our waiter said' we ran out..' Could not bother to say anything because he was too busy running by us. Waited over an hour for our food. I would order take out because their food is great but the unapologetic attitude of our waiter and his nonchalant attitude about my concerns pretty much guarantee that I will not be darkening their door anytime soon. Excellent upper middle class restaurant. Their specialty is Mexican and Italian dishes. I love the lasagna and the burrito is also very good. Huge portions. Terrible customer service! For someone that cannot consume dairy, I recieved my order covered in cheese. I called to have my order fixed and he said he cannot fix it because of the cost to do so. I told him I was told it was dairy free ahead of time which is why I ordered it and he said well, it does come with cheese. The photo does not even mention it having cheese! So upset, as I just moved here and have ordered from Yessica's two times already. read more

I had take out so I can't speak to the restaurant experience but I enjoyed what I ordered.

I was excited when a new restaurant opened up. My husband and I tried them out at lunchtime thinking the prices would be lower...we were wrong...very, very wrong. The service, while impeccable, was pretty slow. At least three couples left while we were there because there was no one to seat them. The portions were fine. The atmosphere was decent. The food is above average for Brookings but we probably won't be back based on price. Two entrees with water set us back $40 including tip at lunchtime. (And we didn't order the more expensive entrees) read more

Quick, friendly service. Mexican and Italian make it an easy restaurant for any picky eaters. Not to mention food was delicious!!

We drove up from Sioux Falls to pick up dinner for my parents who live in Brookings. We decided to give Yessica's a try based on all the positive reviews we read. Let me first say that the food is out of this world. Secondly, the portion sizes are huge, so you definitely get your money's worth. My daughter and husband both got the steak chimichanga, which they both said had amazing flavor and the steak was very tender. I had the grilled chicken chimichanga, which also had amazing flavor. The red sauce that goes over the chimichangas is fabulous. My parents each got the Philly steak burrito. They were very impressed with the flavor and generous portions. We also ordered chips and salsa. The salsa has a slight smoky flavor from charring the tomatoes and peppers, with just the right amount of cilantro. There just needs to be more salsa with an order, because it's that good! We will totally order from Yessica's again the next time we come to Brookings to visit the folks. (No pictures of the food, because it smelled so good, we just dug in. ) read more

I don't like giving bad reviews, but I was very upset about this place. My Ravioli was way very expensive, and tasted like it was from Hy vee. The waitress was also rude to me and my friend, and couldn't wait to run away from us. We were not mean or scary. Please let me know if you plan to use Hy Vee or Schwann's ravioli next time so I can go there myself and buy it for a cheaper price. There were also very few raviolis, and the bland Hy Vee marinara sauce made up most of what was on my plate. I believe in second chances and constructive criticism. We love coming to eat here whenever we are in Brookings. They do both italian and mexican dishes very well. They make their Horchata in house and it it so good, a must get. Also, we love their enchilladas verdes. Dont forget to leave room for dessert. Their chocolate cake is very large and would definitely recommend sharing it. read more

This restaurant just recently established has great potential. The menu is extremely unique, having dishes such as ceviche, paella, steak Alfredo, and many more. So my family and I decided to give this place a try after hearing some good things. We all ordered different dishes. I've always heard if a restaurant can't decide on one genre of food to master they won't be good at any of them. Sadly this was true. The Mexican cuisine we ordered was just ok. Nothing to be excited about. The Italian was bland. But the biggest mistake was the steak. My own fault I did not ask what "market price" was. How ever they were out of the steak I ordered first then when they sent out my second choice it was not cooked. Once it came out the second time it was cooked properly but they had poured so much garlic butter on top the plate was covered in grease. Not juices from the steak but grease. When hit with the bill they were asking 55 dollars for a regular ribeye claiming that market value for them is the same as high end steak houses like Morries in Sioux Falls or Ruth Chris. This is not a steak house and their cut was not up to par with any other steak house without even considering the poor job cooking them. read more

Be careful of this place!! Make sure you clarify portions, if there are uncharges or extra cost. And that the waiter understands what your wanting!!! Visit was July 27th for lunch. The food is great but there are issues with Service and pricing structure. They first gave us a basket of chips and salsa which is standard for any Mexican restaurant. I ordered the Fajita Salad. I asked if there was a lunch portion and waiter said yes so I said I will have that. While waiting I pointed to the container of salsa and said "may we get a little more salsa". So he comes back and drops another basket of chips, so I said again and more distinct that we need more salsa cause we still had some left over chips from previous basket. So he brings full container of salsa. So from the MANY various Mexican restaurants I have been to, they have ALL given refill chips and salsa for free with your meal. When I got the bill, I had a $2 charge for salsa and $2 charge for chips. Plus the salad was a dinner portion charge. I talk to waiter and he said I asked for chips and salsa and I said no, we only wanted the salsa and to take the chips off. He said he could not do that as I ordered chips, I told him he misunderstood and why I was pointing to contain and said it clearly. He Also said there is only a dinner potion of the fajita salad. He took the $2 chips off. So when you talk to hispanic waiter make sure he understand cause he responds like he understand but I think he is not getting all the details when you say something to him. We were very excited to try this place out for our date night. Inside it looked somewhat fancy with piano music playing over the speakers and fake candles in the middle of the tables. Not so bad. We ordered our meals and they arrived quickly. My drink was empty and I waited for the waitress patiently while she was chit-chatting with the other employee. There was only 4 customers dining, so being busy is not an excuse. Right as we were in the middle of our meal someone decided it would be a good idea to start vacuuming, destroying any chance of us coming back.
