About 6 years ago, I used Yes Painting to make major cosmetic improvements to my condo in Santa Clara. The job consisted of removing popcorn ceiling, painting all walls and ceiling, changing out all interior doors together with their frames, removing a troublesome pocket door, and adding decorative baseboard all around. It was a big job. Eric made knowledgeable recommendations for all colors and materials used, managed his crew and communicated well. He and his crew helped breathe new life into a tired looking condo. Remembering that experience, just a few weeks ago I contacted Yes Painting again, this time to paint my parents' rental unit in San Jose. Eric helped educate us on which areas could be touched up and which needed to be fully repainted. He came up with a paint shade slightly lighter than the existing color with an eggshell finish, with the dual purpose of brightening up the rooms and make future maintenance easier. Time was real tight because our new tenants were moving in, in the following week, but Eric acted quickly and squeezed us into his schedule. His crew finished the job in less than 2 days. In addition to painting, they patched lots of nail holes, filled a long crack in the fireplace mantle, and fixed some loose hardware. He even found some leftover paint in the garage that was an exact match for a single bedroom door and two banisters in bad need of refinishing. Well, we're not quite done yet, but I'd like to go ahead and give Eric 5 stars for how lovely he and his crew made my house. We had a misunderstanding early on about which walls would be which colors, but Eric worked it out with me before the work started. Overall, the work was gorgeous! The painters were professional, polite, and easy to work with. They were done in 3 days (and we did almost the entire interior of the house, which is 1,200sq ft). Finally, after they finished, I noticed a few problems. We left our doors open for several days to make sure they dried, but they've been painted so many times (it's an old house), that they stuck together and the frame pulled the paint off the door and vice versa on a few places. Additionally, when I went to install hooks on the door, the paint buckled and peeled. While this is due to the door being very old and thick, Eric offered to touch it up to make it look better, which I greatly appreciate. Last, we had one wall in the bathroom (it was a different color from the other walls) that had some stains bleed through the paint. Although Eric's team used primer, something went wrong, and Eric is going to come back and redo that wall so that the stains don't seep through. I appreciate the good job they did, but, even more, I appreciate how Yes Painting dealt with the problems that arose. I'll definitely use Eric again! I had a small job (remove hooks and patch up holes from art hung on an accent wall + repaint the accent wall). Submitted images and info via SMS and a couple days later had an email estimate for a very fair price. Last minute, I found two other things that could use work: a settling previously patched crack on an exterior wall was unravelling, and a splotch of paint in the bathroom was peeling. Eric was able to accommodate adding both of these items in for a fair price. My caveats would have made this 4 stars but given that Eric squeezed these other things in, it brings it to 5. My comments below are not toward Eric, who was great to work with, but little follow-up fails from his workers: I can tell one of the holes in the wall was not actually patched in / was missed after the paint dried but it's too much hassle to get people back in here just to fix the one little hole; there were also drip stains of paint on the baseboard I'd asked to preserve in the color it already had, and a meaningfully sized drip trail from too much paint applied on one part of the wall. Given the price, and the swift completion and ability to get me in quickly on the calendar, and the great service from Eric, these things don't warrant me raising hell or asking for fixes and I'm lazy, and happy enough with the result to not bother. Also I found several remaining hooks and nails on the carpet inside and on my front stoop where basically the guys were cleaning up after themselves and they didn't catch everything. I have a shoe-less house so if I hadn't been carefully checking after them someone could have stepped on those and hurt themselves. There wasn't a lot for them to catch, so that was a bit disappointing. Lastly, I asked before everyone entered to wear booties and Eric confirmed they lay a drop cloth for everyone to walk on and take off their shoes. Eric did; however, his workers kept their big dirty shoes on, and there was a point where I had to remind them to not walk on the carpet while they were painting (which they did); only after that did they make an effort to move the cloth where it needed to be moved to make sure they weren't stepping on my (freshly cleaned) carpet. So, A+ for Eric. B+ for workers paying attention to detail. read more

Their quote was reasonable and we were able to get an additional discount at the end. The acoustic ceiling removal was going to be hard (due to what the previous owners did) and it still took a little longer than expected, which made the painting part run behind. However, the owner worked long hours himself to catch-up and finish everything on time. The house looks so different with a fresh coat of paint! I was lucky that Eric had a time slot that became available last minute . He came over to quote me for popcorn removal in 2 rooms, and painting 3 rooms and a hallway. His crew arrived first thing in the morning , and quickly moved furniture, and took apart bed. Everything was covered and taped off to secure the dust flying around . The crew were professional and efficient. This process took 2 days. At the end, everything was returned back in its previous state . These guys are professional through n through. The quality of the work is superb! Price wise, they are fair and worth it. They don't do short cuts, which is so important when it comes to paint. I have had contractors and others that has worked on my homes before that did the short cut route by not sanding down the trims of the door and the door itself. Few months later, the paint would chip off. With good/ proper painters, they should sand down the wood- prime-paint. Make sure this happens, otherwise you'll be upset in a few months.
