I am an amateur photogapher and enjoy nature photography. We visited the Grizzley and Wolf…read moreDiscovery Center back in February of 2013 and it was truly a marvelous experience! There was considerable snow on the ground when we arrived and late in the afternoon a snowstorm moved in. That didn't stop us from taking pictures either of the two days we were there....and in fact, the snow just made it that much more interesting. We both loved it there - and we were already in our late 60s then! I highly recommend this place for people of all ages - and especially photographers!

Had a few hours and decided to visit the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center. Well, let me tell you it…read moredid not disappoint. There is a small fee when entering, which is good for two days. Unfortunately we were only able to go one day but if you have the time, it's a great place to see the Bears and other animals. We started off at the outside movie theater, which is amazing a huge screen with tons of seating. I'm sure it's filled during the summer months. We then made our way over to the Bears where the Ranger gave a speech about how to use bear spray which was very useful. Then they let out to the Bears they search for their food and came around so you can get a close look at them. They have a schedule set up for the times the Bears come out and the Rangers explain who they are and how they feed them. Then we made our way to the wolves and watch them walk around and interact with each other. As we made our way to the otter building, we saw the owls and eagles. The otters exhibit was very nice. It's indoors they put out the food first for the otters and then they have to find it so you see them running around and swimming . They're so adorable. The gift shop was very nice as well. It's a must see.

Great new venue for this community. New sound system and current movies in a fun atmosphere…read more Watch the marque for the current showing times and check out the website when it is up. Wonderful addition to the surrounding communities for locals. Sure to be a hit for those who come for big tourist attractions of snowmobiling, St. Anthony sand dunes and incredible fly fishing on the Madison river. Relax and enjoy the popcorn!

PROS: It's a great place for families, since it's a large area and you can seclude your family away…read morefrom others if the kids are a little bit rowdy. It has the biggest screen in the area for movies. They give a military and senior discount. It's ONLY $5!! That's for first run movies, even. They play movies in the summer for kids. They have really good popcorn and last I was there had flavorings for the pocorn, too. Their concession prices are less than Fat Cats. It is an old building and has that vintage charm - including the marque. The staff pays attention to the movies and what's happening so if something is wrong they know. There are just curtains that separate the lobby from the theater so they can hear everything that's happening sound wise and are very prompt at fixing it. They have deals in the Starving Student card and all the high school cards. CONS: The bathrooms are old and small. But it's a really old building, too. They have a small lobby so when there's a premier it's kinda crowded in the lobby, BUT there's plenty of room for everyone in the theater (500 seats!), There's no drinking fountain, St. Anthony is only a 15 minute drive from Rexburg and the experience plus the lower cost is much more worth the drive than going to the first run theater (Fat Cats) in Rexburg. They do Superbowl parties there, and other events sometimes too! It's all streamed from an HD projector onto that huge screen.

They offer military and other discounts on their entrance fee The gift shop area includes information on local, current mining operations as well as merch. This is an outdoor museum so dress for the weather. If you want to take the under ground tour be sure you are wearing closed toed shoes. (Crocs not included, I don't know why) They also have above ground tours. Part of the property is set up like a western town. Something that would grow up around a mine. Post office, apothecary, carpenter, blacksmith, etc, etc. All these buildings are set up with window displays but most are not open to the public. You just peer thru the windows. There is a memorial garden to miners. A mine yard with pieces of heavy equipment. The motorized lift, miners locker room, light room, information and equipment used in dry and wet boring, 3D representations of mines and more with information posted on the displays. You can walk up into the mine head if you are so inclined to see how the ore chutes operated. We spent about two hours here without realizing it. Very interesting museum. Staff are very personable, answered questions and suggested reading material for more on the subject. Very good, family friendly stop.
