Hamilton's Store, situated near Old Faithful and next door to the Old Faithful Inn, is full of souvenirs and memorabilia, has a soda fountain shop and is heaped with Yellowstone history! If you're wanting to take home a souvenir that is locally or regionally crafted you can find your treasure here. Locally created pottery, artwork, Native American jewelry, and leather goods are just some of the quality products sold at Hamilton's. Additionally, Pendleton clothing (ponchos, vest, jackets and shirts), outerwear, t-shirts, Stetson hats, baseball hats, scented candles, blankets, infant/children's clothing, postcards, and so much more. I did not eat in the adjacent restaurant, so I can't speak to its quality. The history behind this Rustic style store began in the late 1800's with H.E. Klamer, Klamer's Curios. Charles Ashworth Hamilton purchased the store, upon Klamer's death in 1915 for $20,000. Hamilton's Stores and Charles Hamilton's Yellowstone concession empire began. Historical highlights: *Hamilton had 12 stores in the Yellowstone National Park, and locals referred to this store as Lower Ham's. *The "knotty porch" was created with Knobby Burl. *Robert Reamer was the architect for The Old Faithful Inn and responsible for designing additions to Klamer's Curios. *On the second floor, Charles Hamilton wallpapered his office with cancelled checked totaling over $1,000,000, hence the nickname "Million Dollar Room". The total in dollar amount is actually closer to 2 million according to Yellowstone Insider. Also, this fact is supposedly in Ripley Believe It or Not. *The Million Dollar Room in Hamilton's Store is the only room in the store not changed through the years. The furniture, checks, and lighting fixture remain. Note the unique hanging lighting fixture in the posted photo. *Thanks to a grant, The Million Dollar Room is undergoing preservation.

Kellem's Saddle - Sign outside simply says "Saddle Shop" but a web search indicates the store's name is actually "Keelem's Montana Saddlery."

I am very thankful for this store! After being inspired by the beautiful women of Montana (looking…read moresuper-cute in their colorful beanies, parkas and boots) and facing negative-degree weather, I decided it was time for an upgrade in clothes. I was wearing my warmest California winter skiing/snowboarding gear but was still feeling chilly while in Yellowstone. But finding clothes in Gardiner that someone in Gardiner would actually wear proved difficult as I quickly learned that Gardiner stores weren't stocked with the cute and warm outfits that I saw the people of Montana wearing - they were stocked with what tourists wanted - souvenirs and last minute travel items. So I get it - there are currently only 971 residents in Gardner and in seasonal months, tourists greatly outnumber residents so shops are geared for the tourist. But it still sucked since it's not what I wanted. Enter "The Saddle Shop". In addition to saddles and horse riding equipment, it offered clothes and accessories that were stylish and wearable. It was the only store open that offered colorful beanies in multiple styles rather than just Yellowstone or plain beanies. I didn't find an appropriate parka or boots but I did find a really cute beanie that I wore everyday for the rest of the trip. Loved it so much!

Kellem's Montana Saddlery is a truly unique mom and pop small town business. Mr. Kellem is a custom…read moresaddle maker and Mrs. Kellem runs the retail part of the business as well as making custom leather accessories (purses, chaps, vests etc.) The retail store has everything from shoes and clothes, gifts, tack and leather goods, jewelery, books and lots very unique and often hand made gifts and very few of the items sold in the store were made outside of the United States!!!! The customer service is excellent and the sales people are polite and helpful in finding sizes or helping with gift ideas. They are all very knowledgeable about the products in the store such as where and how they are made. This will be an excellent shopping experience during your trip through Yellowstone National Park and you can see the Roosevelt Arch from the store front and the beautiful mountains laying just inside the gateway to Yellowstone. I have even been lucky enough to see elk eating from the flower box out front of the store and bison strolling up and down Park Street. You will love this place!

When I saw him picking it up I realized it was mine and he gave it back to me. In all the stores in West Yellowstone, I have never seen anyone take the time to keep the floor clean. While I was in the store the owner and his employees were very kind to me and my dog, tucked away in her dog sling; they offered her water. The employees are very friendly and welcoming; considering the multitude of international tourists. I purchased several items in the Clearance section of the store as well as the main section. All the items I purchased were reasonably priced. The store has an extensive selection of souvenirs for everyone's taste. Spend sometime looking around and sit at the old fashion soda bar and enjoy the best ice cream in West Yellowstone. I highly recommend to visit this store.

They packaged the jars individually in bubble wrap, and placed in their store shopping bag. We drove home in two days to California. When we opened the bag, 6 out of 8 bottles leaked. I called the store twice to notify them of the situation to no resolve. My last call was with owner Jordan on August 28. On previous visits to this store, we had good experiences with ice cream and a few souvenir purchases.

As for the food, given that most reviews were bad, I gambled and had a Cesar salad and the salmon with Cajun sauce since I was staying at the hotel and wanted to relive my childhood visit. The salad took too long to show up, especially since I was the first group for dinner. It was 3 times the size of Yellowstone Mammoth Restaurant, but not as good--did not finish, Cesar dressing is the problem . The Cajun sauce on the salmon was tasteless and the salmon boring, BUT the rice it sat on was Cajun and spicy enough to make the main dish acceptable. The rice won the meal by adding it to each bite of the salmon! All were served warm, including the green beans. Desert was the LavaDivine Fudge Cake. It was dry and needed the whip cream on top and on the side to make it worthy of being called a dessert. I ate it all. Was it worth the $57 before tip? Yes and no. Yes, because I'm on vacation at a famous hotel conveniently located downstairs. No, if I was back in Houston at a restaurant trying to claim class. I'll be back again if I stay at the Old Faithful Inn in the future.

Then, when we were basically finished, some other girl tried to give us our appetizer again.. -overall, overpriced for the quality we received. Food, average for being their main "fancy" dining room. Service average and kitchen coordination lacking. Same thing as the previous night when ate in the bar.. Expected more from this premier hotel in this national park.
