Stopped by on the way back home to Atlanta after visiting Dauphin Island. Was looking for something good and man, Yellowhammer served it up. Great drive thru service and great coffee. My boyfriend got a mocha and I got a chai frappe. He absolutely loved the mocha and he's usually picky with coffee (he used to be a coffee master/barista). I loved the chai frappe - I love coffee but I might love tea more. And in my experience, most people make chai tea way too sweet... which takes away from the depth of the chai spices in my opinion. But yellowhammer had the right amount of sweetness - not too sweet, but just enough. And the frappe was super quality - idk what their recipe is but it was bomb. UPDATE: Yellowhammer recently opened their brick and mortar at 3249 Dauphin St. in Mobile and I have to say it is just as good if not better than the trailers! Really cool building with a good vibe if you walk in. If you use the drive thru be sure to read their story posted around the building. You won't find better people or better coffee in Mobile guaranteed. The first thing I would say about Yellowhammer Coffee is if you have the opportunity to try their products you absolutely have to. I have visited them multiple times and the drinks are always amazing. They only use the best ingredients and the service is superb. Jeff and his staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. If you have questions or are not sure what you want they are happy to point you in the right direction. Absolutely amazing. Even if the drinks were mediocre, which they are not, they deserve five stars simply for the outstanding level of customer service. A lot of places in Mobile could take a lesson from Yellowhammer. I'm amazing at their level of community engagement. The drinks are amazing. The concept of a mobile coffee shop that serves excellent coffee is one of brilliance and is ahead of the curve, here in Mobile. Props to you guys! I finally found time to try Yellow Hammer when they were a couple of blocks from my office. After this first go-round, I may be driving a little bit further to give these guys my business. Extremely friendly, knowledgeable and coffee-loving staff? Check. Ridiculously good beans? Check. (They use a roaster out of Jackson, MS who I'd never heard of before, but will definitely be checking out, now. The espresso was bar none the best I've had...tops over Cultivar, Intelligentsia, Ritual, Novel, Stump Town et al. you get the point) Fun, new, local business to support? Check. The espresso shot I had, like I said, was great. The latte was just as good. They've got plenty of drink options, so whatever you're favorite, I'm sure you'll find it here. I will be trying more of their coffee in the near future, from drip to flavored lattes...maybe even see about hooking it up with a cortado or two. Price is right on point, too. Their caramel macchiato is simply amazing, smooth espresso and the perfect amount of caramel, with a bit of froth on top.....it's hard not to make this a daily ritual. However, the best part of this business is the people! They are some of the kindest people we've met in Mobile, and truly make the business. Today was my first time at Yellowhammer. I had a butter pecan iced latte. It was delicious. The best part, however, wasn't even the coffee. It was how energetic and kind the ladies working were. What they didn't know, is that I had just received news that my Grandmother passed away just a few hours prior to coming in. You never know how a small conversation can turn someone's day around. This place has been recommended to me many times and I finally got a chance to try it. Normally the line is wrapped (always a good sign) but I got there right in time with only one car ahead of me, around 645am-7am Super friendly staff and awesome coffee!!! Best place on the coast for sure. I got the caramel macchiato with four shots of espresso and an Asiago bagel with cream cheese. DELICIOUS! The prices are fantastic especially compared to larger chains under $10 for a large and a bagel, yas please. The customer service was truly awesome; Everyone working was genuinely friendly, not that fake customer service vibe which I always appreciate. Yellowhammer coffee is by far the best coffee I have ever had. I loved the Butter Pecan Latte. It was beyond delicious! My latte had foam down to the very last sip, the perfect amount of sweetness, and coffee you can actually feel. This morning is the first time I was able to give them a try. I pass the Bay City location every morning on my way to work, but I never tried it because of the MGM traffic. I finally decided to give it a try this morning because schools are out for Mardi Gras Break. I had no idea what I was missing. Some of the best coffee I've ever had!! I love to find local, popular coffee shops whenever I am traveling. This one had great reviews, and they were spot-on! We tried their regular coffee - delicious, the King Cake Latte they had for Mardi Gras (unbelievably good!), and the Dark Chocolate Raspberry Frappe special for Valentine's Day (dessert in a cup!).
