The place is historic. Painted yellow, along. Row of businesses. The food is pub food, service is good and friendly. My only gripe, it's 2026, GET A POS terminal so you accept cards. Do this and you will see business pick up. read more

Was in a group of 6 on a Friday evening. Had been warned by the barmaid to come earlier rather than later, which we did. Good thing we did, cause it got crazy. They didn't have enough servers. They were TRYIN' but they couldn't keep up. The food was excellent, but they had no cocktail menu or any ciders. A real shame as far as I'm concerned. Lost a star for me. read more

Yellow Tavern - Grilled salmon salad - New American Near Me - New Harmony, Indiana

Very old building, with long narrow seating and bar area. Be there early for meal times, as place fills up fast. We sat at the bar for our meal. Service was friendly, prompt. Meal-sized salad was nicely presented and generous with grilled chicken and usual greens. Quaint, welcoming atmosphere within walking distance of anywhere in New Harmony. read more

Yellow Tavern - Bar at Yellow Tavern - New American Near Me - New Harmony, Indiana

I love this place! Beware it only takes cash! They do have ATM. Everything is pretty darn good. I especially love the ribeye special and the Chef knows exactly how to cook it for me. He understands what between rare and medium rare means. It might be a little salty so if you let them know you'd like light salt, I'm sure they will accommodate. Lots of variety. Pretty good pizza and amazing desserts. The fresh cakes and pies can be pretty mind blowing - huge servings. If they are out of those, the bread pudding is delicious. It's a local favorite doesn't take reservations and gets very busy on Mondays and Tuesdays when everything else in town is closed down. Service is superb. read more

Service was nice. Pizza was nothing special. Fried zucchini was pretty good. For a small town pub restaurant it's about what you'd expect it to be. read more

Outstanding service upon arrival, for seating, in taking orders, and delivering food. I asked for a substitution: roasted pork for roasted chicken in the Wrap sandwich read more

The food is okay, I got the BBQ sandwich with fries and my wife had the fried bologna. We thought it would be thicker but it wasn't. This place requires cash only for food and drinks. read more

I'm blown away that in this time a place does not accept cards We had looked forward to eating here all day I'm sure they are losing lots of business with this decision read more

We like to frequent non-franchise restaurants. Yellow Tavern has simple menu with traditional bar food. We opted for the supreme pizza which was fine, nothing special. Be aware this is a cash only restaurant. They have ATM in restaurant in case you didn't bring cash. read more

Nice, busy place with local clientele. You can tell by all the to-go pizza orders, that thisbis. THE place to eat pizza! Good food. Good menu. Attentive wait staff. read more

Cozy locals bar known for their steaks and burgers. The pork chop was excellent. Super juicy with a heavy char flavour. Don't miss out on the bread pudding for dessert! Cash only and no one under 21 allowed! read more

Yellow Tavern - a plate of steak, broccoli and bread - New American Near Me - New Harmony, Indiana

Personally, the Yellow Tavern just wasn't for me. This is definitely a dive bar, which I'm usually all for. The locals spoke highly of the food which we didn't order. We came in for dessert and a drink. We ordered both desserts and were disappointed in each. The cheesecake came closest to being as described, but the bread pudding was more like a soup with chewy bread and pecans. On the plus side, I was impressed by their beer selection! Service was friendly and attentive, even with tables full of exuberant wedding guests occupying most of the room. read more

We had the pizza here and it was excellent.Cold beer and great service too. Small bar with tables also. No credit cards so bring cash or use the on site ATM. read more

Some of the best food around. 21 and older only. Bar seating or table seating available. We love the pizza, burger, and definitely try the Ruben if you are a fan. It's delicious. read more

Food was great! Highly recommend the pizza. The atmosphere was great, good old town bar feel.

The food is amazing. I've always loved their pizza. It is a little hole in the wall (literally) but it adds to the historical part of town. Service is always friendly and fast. It's not a huge place, but if you can get in, definitely worth it. read more

Great food, cozy place. I usually go when visiting family and tend to always get the tenderloin sandwich and crave it all the way there ;)

We had a great lunch here today. The bratwurst, the German potato salad, and the bread pudding were excellent, all thanks to the cook and owner Zach. read more

The Yellow Tavern is a local favorite, and once you've sampled the menu, It's easy to understand why. Their Rueben's are great, as are their burgers and other sandwiches, but their salmon and dinner entrees are unexpectedly delicious. Try one of the soups if you're there in the winter, and keep your eyes open for the locally made daily dessert options. They're known for their bread pudding! It can get busy: seating is first come, first served, but you can take advantage of family style tables or grab a seat at the bar and order from there or wait until a table opens up. It's a 21 up establishment, but there are picnic tables in Redbud park where you could do take out, and and their turn around time is usually only 15 minutes. It's also cash only, but there is an ATM machine available on-site if you need cash. read more

Exactly what you'd think. Solid bar food. Great - and inexpensive - burger, best brat I ever had and solid pizza. Great place fir locals and visitors to mingle. read more

Open on Monday - unlike every other bar/restaurant in New Harmony. The service is great! Seriously this is a local tavern that treats strangers like locals too! We had drinks with the veggie platter. Just think breaded fried every (cauliflower, onions, zucchini, mushrooms). Nothing spectacular in what we ordered but it hit the spot for an afternoon stop. I hear they have home made cheesecake and bread pudding. Literally we heard call in order after order for just the cheese cake to go!! Had I not been full, I would have tried it!! Our bartender/ waitress was the best - thanks Kim!! read more

We stopped in for a beer after the Haunted New Harmony ghost walk, and this was a nice little place! I was hoping to come back to try the pizza the next day, but they're not open on Sundays, boo! The food that I saw looked good, though, and I'll definitely be back soon to try it out. Also, it's a TAVERN, which means you have to be 21 to enter. I've seen a few people complain that they couldn't take their kids in. Duh. It's a bar, people. read more

The Yellow Tavern is a little hole in the wall in New Harmony. It has a unique environment because seating is family style meaning you sit wherever there is an open spot. If you are looking for peanuts, this is a good place to go because every table comes with a bucket of peanuts and you are welcome to throw your shells on the ground (I think this is kind of fun). I had no complaints about the food. At our table, we had a hamburger, grilled cheese, french fries, and onion rings. Everything was standard flavor, no dissappointments, but no wows. We decided to get some bread pudding for dessert. It was warm, sweet, and just how I expect bread pudding to be. If anything, I vote you get the bread pudding. read more

Yellow Tavern - The Bread Pudding was wonderful. A taste of bourbon and vanilla. - New American Near Me - New Harmony, Indiana

Nothing wrong at all with this old timey tavern, and I was super excited to dive into a brain sandwich. A local specialty that's been done in southern Indiana for a long time is offered up here along with a bunch of other standard bar food and drink that makes this place a fine spot for lunch or dinner. But if I had to be a bit critical, my experience with the brain sandwich wasn't as good as it could be, or as it perhaps usually is. The breading was thick and rich- which is fine, and probably how it ought to be done, but unfortunately the oil wasn't brought to a high enough temperature and the sandwich was very oily, and the breading was soggy. I'd be willing to bet that this was just an "off" attempt and that they usually cook it well here though. read more

Bar review only: Late night weekend after-dinner drinks are great here. The bartender was super friendly, attentive and made excellent drinks...and I must say, the people watching is great with the drunkards running back and forth from the legion! =) Next time we're in town we will have to try the grub. Know before you go: No one under the age of 21 allowed. read more

Arrived at 9 on a weekday. Even though the place was empty, they were willing to stay open to serve us. Food was nothing spectacular, but it was quick and pretty good in a town that closes down early. Good beer recommendations, but the meat on my Reuben sandwich was cold in the center and used Kraft cheese. read more

My favorite is the grilled tenderloin, but the burgers are also quite good. My other favorite is the grilled German bologna. Extremely good. The two best things in the house are the grilled salmon and the bread pudding. We do taste tests everywhere we travel and the Yellow Tavern always comes out on top in the bread pudding contest hands down. Try it if you try nothing else. read more

Iced tea was good, strong and tasty. Everything else was kind of disappointing. The cod sandwich was just a frozen filet, fried and slapped on a grocery store hamburger bun. Onion rings also tasted like a bagged product, not something made in house. My friend had the barbecued pork sandwich, which tasted like a pre-made pork on cheap sandwich bread. The bread was soaked through with grease and sauce before she could eat it. So few places to eat in New Harmony, and this one no longer makes the list. read more

Can't review the food because they would not let us in to eat lunch with kids. 3:00 in the afternoon and not 1 person in the place. We were Incredibly disappointed. They lost out on a party of 9 adults and just 2 kids. read more

Best Steak & Shrimp! A locals favorite, a delicious meal you can count on every time! We catch up w Brenda & see Friends every time we go!

The Yellow Tavern is a local New Harmony hot spot for beer, pizza, steaks, burgers and some specialty stuff like "Brain Sandwich" not for me but I hear it's great. The prices are more in line with a higher end Evansville bar and grill but then again...the food is good and most out of town visitors don't mind paying for a good meal. Groups like the writers guild choose New Harmony as one of their retreat locations during the summer every year along with many weddings and other groups and it seems the Yellow Tavern is one of their favorite places. Check it out...but get there before 6:00 or after 8:30 P.M on weekends or you will be waiting for a seat. Enjoy! read more

Rude, rude, rude!!! We were in town for a family reunion and thought we would stop in for some late dinner. Met at door by "hostess" / owner. One of our party did not have her identification and we were told no one would be served. She also accused some of our party ( all adults) that she "knew" we had tried to enter the night before through the backdoor. Not true!! Most of us were from out of state and had never been there before. Take your business down the street this is simply a local/ biker bar. read more

Disappointing which was to bad. They were busy on Friday night, was told someone called off. Which is not the customers problem. Had appetizer plate of veggies, was good. My husband and I both had grilled chicken sandwich. Waitress did not check back on us to see if the meal was ok, or to refill sodas. The chicken was tough and rubbery, I did not eat much of it. After we had to flag the waitress to get our ticket, we mentioned how bad the chicken was and said I noticed you didn't eat much of it. She said she would mention it to him, I'm assuming the owner and that was it. Had heard this was a good place to eat. I won't be back, unfortunately. read more

The food was subpar and over priced. Atmosphere ok but the layout of the bar leaves patrons spread apart and not much socialization. Won't go back. read more

Our group of ten went in for a hamburger around 8:45 on a Saturday evening and a couple in our party overheard the bartender say "great! We won't get out of here now." Sadly, because one of us didn't have an ID, they ran us all out. They were very rude and short about it. It was apparent that these employees agenda was more important than serving their customers. read more

Great little spot for a basic lunch in a very picturesque town. Friendly people and prompt efficient service. The Rueben is excellent though I am used to thicker bread, this is one of the better Rueben sandwiches I have had. My wife ordered a vegetarian Rueben and the lady at the counter didn't even bat an eye, she just kept writing. Beer selection doesn't have any "craft" to it but you may have either bottles or cans. :) the onion rings were straight out of a bag and not a good one but edible. My favorite most underrated detail were the pickle spears, crisp, cold and with excellent flavor! If you're going to put it on the plate, it should taste good! My wife loved that they provided feminine hygiene products in the Women's Room, something she says isn't done enough anymore. We will return to New Harmony with friends who will love it and its very likely we will return to The Yellow Tavern. read more

HORRIBLE cheapy bar food. Very overpriced and food was really gross. Reheated frozen food. Never again. I dont know how anyone can give this place a good review unless they are employed there maybe. They are also CASH ONLY (which I have never seen in a restaurant!) and they dont say anything beforehand so you have to run to an atm to pay your bill. Weird. read more

We had a terrific experience here!! We started with the Beef Vegetable Soup, which was deeply comforting. We were thinking that a burger would be the safest bet for an entrée, but the waitress was so enthusiastic about the salmon, and a four-top left just as we were about to order, and one of the folks gave it a thumbs up. That settled it. We had the Salmon with Wild Rice which was so flavorful. Both the salmon, the rice and the side order of broccoli were very beautifully cooked and the lime creme sauce for the salmon finished it off well. Truly, I've rarely had a better tasting salmon in a pricey restaurant. We finished off splitting the Bread Pudding, which while highly recommended, actually exceeded expectations. The sauce for the pudding is so dang good. The waitress and the cook/owner? were so attentive, super friendly and even gave us advice for local things to do. It was very charming and satisfying. Granted, they were not busy and it wasn't near closing time, but our experience was a winner! read more
