My husband and I finally made it to Yellow Dog Eats after having it on our list for months, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The Vibe: We came on a Saturday and the parking lot was packed, which we took as a great sign--and it was. You walk through a fun outdoor patio before heading inside to order, and the space is incredibly unique--colorful, eclectic, slightly hipster, with dog photos and quirky decor everywhere. The line to order was pretty long, but we noticed a few open seats at the bar. We asked the bartender if we could order there, and she said yes--pro move. Skip the line, grab a bar seat. Drinks: We tried the house lager, which was solid and refreshing. What We Ordered: * Homemade Queso + Flavor Bomb 3 * "Famous" Pulled Pork Sandwich * "What the Fig?" Sandwich Standout Bite: The queso with Flavor Bomb 3 was incredible. Sweet, savory, and completely addictive. The pineapple in the flavor bomb added the perfect touch of sweetness and made the dish really stand out. Sandwiches: Both sandwiches were excellent. The pork was fresh, tender, and packed with flavor. The classic pulled pork was great, but if you like bold flavors, the "What the Fig?" is the way to go--the fig jam added the perfect sweet-savory balance. Flavor-packed and messy in the best way. Sides: Sandwiches come with your choice of Miss Vickie's chips, house-made slaw, or both for $1 extra. The house-made slaw was a standout for me--fresh, crisp, and the perfect complement to the sandwiches. Overall: Great food, fun atmosphere, and a unique experience from start to finish. We're already planning our next visit--and next time we're bringing our pup since they're dog-friendly and fully embrace it. Pro tip: Head straight to the bar if there's a long line--and don't skip the queso with a flavor bomb.
My family has always wanted to check out this place for a while and we found time around the holidays and in the new year to stop in for a few meals. (It is dog friendly, but we chose to not bring our dogs with us both times, as we were out running errands prior to stopping in for a meal.) They have a good amount of parking available if you go a bit before a peak meal time. Regarding tables, there are a few on the back porch area, some out front, and there's the covered area out back. Some folks I've seen eat at the bar inside as well. Usually we've been able to find a table whenever we've come here. I've tried their pulled pork sandwich and the house made queso, along with one of their January specials which was their take on a meatball sandwich. Everything is made to order and it tastes very good, without being over-seasoned or heavy. My mom and I commented that the pulled pork does not taste greasy, which is not always easy to find whenever we go to BBQ places. Portion sizes are big - you could have leftovers in some cases, but our instances, we often skipped lunch and came closer to dinner, so we were pretty hungry. It's a lively space that is laidback and the food is very delicious. Definitely would come back here if I was in the area.
We had an OK experience at this location recently. Really eclectic and very cool vibe and friendly associates. I had that Rufus, which was a generous portion and tasty. Definitely, when you get the Rufus you get the extra add-ons such as the fried onion and cheese. It 'makes the dish' so don't short change yourself on taste. Just a few extra pennies. My wife had the pork salad and it was under her expectations. She has a gluten, dairy, and soy allergy and what she ordered could not be modified to accommodate her allergies as there was limited salad dressing options as all the olive oils have soybean in them. Having a gluten, dairy, and soy allergy makes it challenging for all restaurants.
I stopped by Yellow Dog Eats to catch up with some friends and it ended up being the perfect spot. We went on a Monday night, which was very peaceful. The atmosphere is super unique. The whole place has a quirky, laid-back vibe with dog photos covering the walls, colorful lights, and a cozy outdoor patio that makes it easy to hang out and stay awhile. The menu has tons of creative sandwiches and wraps. I ordered the 'El Cubano' sandwich that came with kettle chips, and everything was delicious. The bread was perfectly toasted and the sandwich was packed with flavor. Between the fun decor, the dessert case full of homemade treats, and the relaxed atmosphere, this place feels like a hidden local gem.
Love the food here and bonus, you can bring your furry friends. I love the smell of the wood fire bbq grill, as soon as you get out your car in the parking lot. They have a bar with many local craft brews. The names of the sandwiches in the menu make me laugh. Get anything with the bbq and you will love it. I love the tomato-cucumber salad as a side. It can get warm on the outdoor patio, but the vibe is always great and everyone is so friendly. Go early as they get crowded on weekends!
Love this place but we don't come here as often since our dog passed over a year ago. Our friends (that are picky eaters) came here with us and had a great meal. Our friend didn't care for the potato salad, but it's person preference. You still have to order at the counter and get your own food when the buzzer goes off. There's a great variety for anyone, even vegetarians. They also have a great beer selection (per my husband). I don't think they do trivia or music bingo anymore, which is a shame. Those were always fun.
Easily our favorite local find since moving to the surrounding area. This place has such a cool vibe. Seems like it has been around for ages and is well loved locally. Staff was all very friendly and welcoming once they found out we were new locals. Had some interesting conversations with a few people about Orlando and Atlanta (where we moved from) and BBQ in both places. You've got to see this place. It eclectic. couldn't be remade anywhere. Love spots like this. Dog friendly - we're really excited to got our fur kids on the wall one day. Everything we are was excellent. Huge portions and MESSY. Super messy - be prepared and don't wear white lol but truly so good. I'm going back to puck up some sauce for home sandwiches. I'm a big soup fan and when we inside figuring out or order someone yelled "don;t skip the soup" and with that I ordered a cup of soup which was excellent and fresh and again massive. A cup is more like a bowl. I bet a bowl is enough to feed a few people. Having been there once I can already tell you this is going to become a go -to spot of us and a fun local find to share with friends when they visit.
Stopped in for brunch at Yellow Dog Eats this afternoon and it did not disappoint. I had the curry chicken salad, and it was outstanding -- flavorful, balanced, and clearly made with care. Not overly sweet, not heavy, just really well done. It felt like one of those dishes you don't forget because it's simple but executed right. The space is what really sets this place apart. The restaurant is literally a retrofitted house that's been turned into a funky, welcoming eatery. Inside feels cozy and eclectic -- colorful walls, quirky vintage-style signs, wood ceilings, mismatched tables and chairs, and a warm "you're in someone's cool home" vibe instead of a generic restaurant feel. Then there's the covered outdoor area, which is awesome -- string lights, heaters, plants, wooden beams, open air, and tons of personality. It feels more like hanging out in a backyard patio lounge than eating out. Super relaxed and apparently pet-friendly, which adds to the laid-back neighborhood feel. It's casual, creative, comfortable, and just different in the best way. If you're looking for: * A unique brunch spot * Good food that's not cookie-cutter * A place with character and personality ...this is absolutely worth the stop. Highly recommend.
Went with some friends for an early dinner. It was raining out so there were plenty of seats. It was pretty quiet so we able to have a good conversation without yelling. We sat at the bar and the waitress was readily available. She made beer/cider recommendations as needed and also let us sample before choosing a drink. The food was amazing and came out pretty fast. I was just sad at the dessert availably nothing I really wanted.
Amazing experience, great staff, beautifully decorated & DELICIOUS FOOD! The entire place is decorated with community furbabies! The Drinks and food all play into the theme. It is very beautiful & a true hole in the wall! Take your fur babies it's worth every penny!!
Amazing food & very personable staff. Even though it is more of a casual spot and you order your own food & grab it, the owner walks around the table and checks on you. My favorite dish was the ribs.
Amazing, multiple visits & everything has been great. What a fun, eclectic, unique, flavorful sandwich place. Excellent beer selection, orders are quickly served & vibe is exciting! All sandwiches are great. Something new to see every time we visit. It is easy to miss on the road, nestled between houses & neighborhoods so do not overlook this great venue.
LOCAL REVIEW: Yellow Dog Eats is a must for BBQ fans in Orlando. The location in Gotha is also their original! I love following their Instagram account to keep up with daily specials. You really can't go wrong with most items on the menu though. There is always a healthy serving of meat with everything that I have tried. The meat is always juicy and flavorful. I'm a person that enjoys sauce and it's always the right amount. Some of my favorite food items have been: White Trash (love their thick cut shredded Gouda cheese on top), Fire Pig (perfect for a light lunch with easy leftovers if you take half the wrap home), and the Sweet Potato Tico Tacos! Yes, even their vegetarian items pack a punch of flavor. Getting to this Gotha location takes you on an enjoyable ride through a lovely neighborhood that for your first time going there will leave you wondering if you're going the right way. When you arrive, you'll see the red and yellow signage calling you to the house that holds this cafe. There is plenty of parking behind the house and also across the street. As soon as you get out of your car, you can smell the smoker and then inside the house, you'll find eclectic decor. It feels like a space where all are welcome. Some of the staff are really chatty and some are not, but all are nice people. And sometimes the owner is there too! The best part is that dogs are also welcome in the covered outdoor section. There is usually also a water bowl or two around as well.

After a boat tour with Florida Lakes Tours, which we purchased on Groupon, we came here for lunch at the suggestion of the boat captain. I am not a pulled pork fan, which is mostly the kind of BBQ they have besides ribs. I got the ribs, which comes with a bag of chips (not homemade) and a very, very small amount of their own cole slaw. I didn't care for the cole slaw. I prefer mine creamy. The ribs had a full flavored rub on them. You almost don't even need the BBQ sauce, but you should definitely try it. Self serve soda dispenser allows for refills. They have a black cat that stays on the property, apparently. There was a little cat tent. It was very friendly. I would come back if they expanded there BBQ meat options to include chicken or beef to that WASN'T pulled. read more

1st visit this afternoon for lunch and what a gem. We ordered the Holy Crap Sandwich, Johnny Rocket sandwich, Are You Chicken salad, side of Avocado Hummus, side of Potato Salad. The Holy Crap sandwich is toasted and full of flavor with sliced turkey, bacon, mayo, avocado thin sliced red onion and I'd definitely order this one again. The Are You Chicken Salad is mixed greens with sliced roast chicken, cucumber, carrots, roasted red pepper with a vinaigrette dressing on the side. The salad was good but we will try something else on our next visit. The potato salad is made with roast potato wedges making it a bit different than we've ever had. The Avocado Hummus is fresh and tasty and served with Stacy's Pita Chips. The Johnny Rocket sand which has sliced turkey, Gouda cheese, fresh tomato, lettuce and cherry peppers and a special orange Cointreau mayo. This sandwich is pretty thick and flavorful. You order at the counter and pick it up when they call your name. Seating is indoors limited in first floor and upstairs, outdoor on a covered patio with an abundance of fans and festive and fun lighting. Music plays throughout and is at a nice volume to enjoy and still be able to hear your table mates. They serve Pepsi products, brewed iced tea (regular and flavored) and a variety of beers both draft and bottled. The staff is friendly, helpful and attentive as soon as you step foot in the door. They hand you a menu, share the specials and take your drink orders so you have something to drink while you wait to order. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch. Great menu options, something for everyone. You order at the front of building and then find a table on your own. Then you wait for them to call your name to pick up your food. Ordered the Mr Smokey-our pulled pork with wonderfully smoked pineapple, fried onions, crispy bacon and heavenly bbq sauce on a soft bun. Would never thought to put pineapple on the sandwich but yum. The BBQ sauce was phenomenal, a little mustard but great flavor. A major plus was that the manager acutally came around to check on us several times which others noted a lack of follow up. read more

We ate at Yellow Dog Eats a few nights ago. Very chill vibe. Food was awesome. We all had different items and everyone raved about their choices. My pulled pork sandwich was fantastic. I made no changes as I wanted to taste it like they serve it. I'm glad I did. Can't wait to come back and eat it again. read more
What a treat! A country store/restaurant with really good sandwiches, quirky artsy decor, outdoor patio and bar, and inside quiet little rooms and lively open spaces to fit your mood. You order and pay as you come in and then find your spot. It was busy, but there were still many available tables throughout. Had their Classic Yellow Dog Club sandwich. It was delicious! (see interesting contents/flavors in the menu description) - it left me no doubt that the other sandwiches were as flavorful (how could pulled pork not be delish, right?) I had them warm my brownie - it was the best! - with a caramel and slight bacon flavor drizzle. I will certainly return with family and friends. It seems to have been here forever, and it's no wonder. read more

Overall I've always loved this restaurant. I love that I've been visiting for years and Fish adds some fun variety now and then and grateful for the vegetarian/vegan menu at a place mainly known for bbq. My usual go to is the salmon salad or ahi tuna tacos, but as covid has struck its ugly head into our world, the menu has become limited for now. There are still two vegetarian options, but no fish options. They have a great little hand washing station outside and now the servers come to you to take your order or you can get take away out front. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive and They were great about social distancing and making sure patrons wear masks until they are firmly planted in a chair for drinks and eats. Today I had the sweet potato tacos and I will say they did not disappoint at all! So much savory flavour and it was incredibly filling. I'm definitely looking forward to the full menu but the covid modified menu still satisfies! read more

We got so lucky for finding this place ! I love the vibe and it is such a cute spot - the decor, string lights, everything. I ordered the holy crap sandwich - this sandwich was prob the best turkey sandwich I have had in a long time . The turkey was literally piled high, which is a rarity these days. I'm not a big goat cheese person but it complemented the sandwich wonderfully. The bread even tasted home made. Amazing find! We will be back ! read more

Super fun & amazing little spot! Had a really great Sunday afternoon lunch with my family here a couple weeks ago. We sat in their outdoor seating space which feels like you're sitting in a treehouse because of the airy-ness & all the plants surrounding the tables. My daughter & I split two different bbq sandwiches & my husband (who is dairy free & gluten free) had the curry chicken salad. The salad was big & fresh, but the portion of curry chicken was fairly small. The sandwiches: What the Fig? & The Rufus "feeling frisky" we're both really good, but we liked the frisky Rufus best! Definitely try this place, you won't be disappointed. I also wanted to mention that the owner, Fish Morgan, came over to see how we were doing and stayed awhile to talk with us. He was a super friendly & cool guy & it was great to meet him! read more
Generous and delicious portions for the price! This little hidden central Florida gem is definitely a local dive that gets packed up quickly! The feel of the place is very much like Key West. Their specialities are their BBQ and delectable sandwiches. Throughout the restaurant, there are photos plastered all over the walls of dogs and puppies, definitely can tell the owner is a dog person. Stop by and you won't be disappointed. read more
Another spot that Yelp led us to that did not disappoint! We always try to find someplace new and different to try when we are traveling, and on our recent trip to Orlando, decided this was the spot. We enjoyed it so much in fact, that we took friends with us a week later and they loved it too. First, the setting - very laid back - if you don't like sitting outside, this might not be the place to go - although I understand they have expanded their seating area inside, we ate out back both times. They have misting fans, so it's not too hot, and plenty of umbrella's and trees for shade as well. Next, if you are vegetarian or vegan, they have plenty of selections. We don't happen to be, but have many friends who are, so this was a menu I was happy to share with them for future visits. Now, on to the good stuff...Their bbq pork. Oh my.. So moist and tasty, with their Gold BBQ sauce that was yummy. I tried the Club Elvis on the first visit (s Our tender pulled pork decadently topped with pecan-smoked bacon, Gouda cheese, crispy fried onions and topped with Fish's Gold BBQ sauce, served on a fun-fluffy bun.), and the Pork nachos on our second. Would have either one again. The sandwiches are HUGE, and come with a bag of chips. The Nachos had plenty of sauces (I asked for some on the side, they all can come on top if you wish); a homemade salsa; Sweet Thai Chili Sauce; Gold BBQ & all topped with sour cream. The huge amount of pulled pork in the middle of tri-color chips was enough for two for sure. All with black beans, queso, pickled onions, and jalapenos. Oh my goodness. Our 13 year old got the Puppy Love which was peanut butter, strawberry preserves, sliced bananas, fresh cut strawberries, chocolate chips, chopped roasted peanuts, served on thick sliced multi-grain bread with a side of animal crackers. Needless to say, she was very happy with this selection. And hey, it had fresh fruit so it's a bonus! This is not a spot you will go away hungry. Their mojito's were pretty tasty as well, and they have cold beer and other drinks too. They get a extra special happy dance from our family as they are dog friendly, and we're always looking for spots we can bring our favorite pooch. read more

Local spot. Laid back atmosphere, dog friendly and good food. You normally order at the counter however it's table service for now. Outdoor seating in covered area with fans. Servers are all friendly. Almost all of the dishes are based on a barbecued meat- everything is delicious! Parking is around the back and there is an extra parking lot across the street. This rarely happens, because usually my husband and I want to try two different things so we get to taste more. But this day, we both decided to go for the same sandwich (with different main meats). He went for the original *Florida Cracker* - pulled pork with tangy coleslaw, gouda, pecan-smoked bacon, spicy pickles, fried onions, topped with gold bbq sauce, served on Texas toast with -- I asked for them to substitute with turkey instead of pork. Served with kettle cooked chips. WOW this sandwich was PERFECT with its carousel of textures: crunchy, creamy, flavors: sweet, salty, savory - just incredible. And it came out fast! AND the atmosphere is killer! Great decor, fun options to sit under a disco ball or inside of a VW bus. Friendly service, great passion fruit sour beer too. Really wonderful experience. read more

YDE is a restaurant inside of a 2 story home, very hipster feel as you walk in. They have a variety of sandwiches you can choose from with also choices of Tacos and ribs. You order at the front desk and the staff is very helpful to choose what you want especially if it's your first time. After you order you can take a seat either inside or outside and they will call your name to pick up your order through an intercom. There is also live music on the weekends which sets a very chill vibe. Nice place to hang out with friends and family. read more

Love both locations (New Smyrna and Gotha). Ran into the owner on one of our first visits and he was super friendly! The Quirky descriptions for each of the offerings + beers and laid a back ambiance is a perfect match, plus it is dog-friendly which is a bonus. All the sammies are creatively put together and absolutely scrumptious! I don't have much to say that it is one of my top 3 sandwich stops within the greater Orlando area! read more
