The cabin is difficult to find on GPS maps, but they have located it correctly and delivered firewood to exactly the spot we specified on the lot. The quality of their firewood is excellent. The deliver a mixture of oak, eucalyptus and some manzanita logs, which are highly prized for their high BTU content. You should note that since manzanita is VERY dense it can be difficult to ignite and keep going until you have a hot bed of coals. Then, it's great. For those not familiar with this wood, its about half again as dense as oak and the logs are mostly bright orange heartwood, some mixed with tan sapwood.

I'm not sure if there's a Yelp for his contracting business, because I can't find one, so here's a review on the services I had done this past Spring. I needed a 30-40 ft. tree cut down, the main water stop valve replaced and moved, and my driveway expanded. This business has excellent customer service and communication. If you've called any kind of general contractors, plumbers, electricians, tree trimmers, handyman, or any person offering home repair service up the mountain you know it's so hard to get anyone to pick up the phone, let alone return a call. Steve's people are on it. Julie, his main receptionist, picked up my calls just about every time, if not, she was really timely in calling me back. Julie was great to work with and was definitely knowledgeable about the business. I had multiple questions about the work I was wanting done, and she was happy to personally stop by my cabin to thoroughly go over everything. I never felt rushed or stupid, and she made me feel confident in my decisions. She seemed to even be on the same page for what I was envisioning. :) I got the project scheduled quickly and within a couple weeks a had tons of firewood ready to dry out in my backyard and a new two-car driveway. His staff did a phenomenal job from start to finish and even made a rock perimeter with extra river rock at no additional cost! I wanted to keep the tree for future firewood and that was no issue at all. Steve has been doing business in Big Bear for over 30 years and knows his stuff. He stuck to the quoted price for everything, did the entire job in 2 days, stayed in communication, and were professional the entire time. Since we been having late winters and good rain in May plus planned camping trips we plan to buy an additional 1/8 cord for $35. My wife and I are planning to come back to Bear City for next season. NOTE TO NEW WOOD BURNING PEOPLE AND BULK BUYERS: Buy early no matter where you go. Place the firewood on a firewood rack preferable in a location with lots of sun and wind.
