Year of the Snake holds a popup on Sundays in Morrel's Bread's space. Y.O.T.S. is operated by a Tartine alumni, specializes in Asian-inspired Pastries & breads. Selections rotate weekly. Bakes on display in case. Choose n. Go. Drinks made to order. Sips: Hot Vietnamese covfefe (4) in 4 minutes. -freshly dripped Vietnamese covfefe mixed with condensed milk. Authentic! Good to the last drop! Bites: mostly European breads topped/mixed with Asian ingredients. -egg tarts (6) Best of my choices. Crispy, crunchy, flakey shells. Filled with luxurious, egglicious, egg custard... Black Sesame Bestoke (7) -topping a black sesame frangipane (sweet, almond-flavored cream) burst of flavas atop neutral tasting sliced brioche bread. Pickled Mustard green & chili paste faintly baked atop dryish focaccia bread. Greens toasted, bland as was chili paste. A bad bake? 4.5 stars semi-worthy:YMMV quality: overall good Quantity: varies item to item:

Such a cute spot tucked away in Oakland. It's a pop-up shop only open weekly with a different menu everytime. They posted about having a black sesame pastry which brought me in last Sunday. Unfortunately they didn't have it when I came so we got the strawberry castella cake, egg tart, and coconut lime bottlecap. The castella cake had no strawberry flavor which was disappointing. The egg tart was my sister's favorite, definitely the flakiest egg tart crust either of us have had. I wasn't a big fan of the filling because I thought it was really wet/runny. The coconut lime bottlecap was my favorite one surprisingly. Not too sweet and crunchy on the outside. Hope to come back and try more.

We are so happy to have tried their pastries and to support this small Asian-owned business/mother daughter duo. This was one of the best egg tarts I've had. And the other pastries had incredibly deep flavor. They were incredible nice and it was not a long wait on a Sunday morning. They even treated us to Zong Zi in celebration of the dragon boat festival. Looking forward to trying their other pastries!

The staff was engaging, everyone was kind and had recommendations on what to try. There was a Japanese cheese roll. I explained that I didn't like cheesecake but was interested and they cut a small piece off from a leftover for me to try. It wasn't to my liking but I deeply appreciated the act. Come early! I was there at noon and people had started to buy up certain baked goods. (I bought the last focaccia.)

A Sunday morning must! Highlights: the Chinese sausage and scallion biscuit is like no other. It's not too dry and is great cold or warmed up. I'm also a huge fan of the salted egg yolk cookie. It's not too strong but the specks of yolk are perfect. And it's huge!

The egg tarts blew my mind and I don't even like egg tarts. I am a pastry person and the tart part of egg tart blew my mind. It was so crispy and perfect and you can taste the layers and the artistry that went into prep. Everything we got here was well-balanced not too sweet. I will absolutely be back for more egg tarts!

Holy moly!! Best Portuguese egg tart ever! It is life changing. The custard is so silky smooth, and the crust is sooooooo freaking flaky. I also got quite the haul and was able to try a selection of items! Meyer lemon japanese cheesecake was so fluffy! I was amazed at the salted egg yolk cookie- definitely not a common bakery item, and I have no regrets trying it. The korean army stew focaccia was a unique menu item, so I had to try it. It was decent and a nice savory item. Since I ordered a lot and they were about to close, they threw in a little gift (hazelnut baby cake) for me, which was nice of them! The tea eggs were a nice addition because I needed some savory to balance out the sweet.

Happened upon this place on the happiest of accidents. If you're on the fence I hope I can help sway you to them. Probably the best Egg Tart I've ever had in my life. The focaccia was savory and crunchy With a soft middle. Never thought i needed a pretzel cone full of cream cheese but apparently I do now. Please do yourself a favor and go visit this place.

Desserts: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Overall: Just a little overpriced for my taste. The extended review... Desserts: Choco-Strawberry Bolo Bun - 3/5 - It definitely caught my eye on paper. Overall it was a little bit bland for my taste. Service: 3/5 - Friendly service. Ambiance: 3/5 - More of a commercial kitchen with pick up and take out service.

Yummy. The egg tarts and the tea eggs are my top top top items. The egg tarts are crispy and creamy and the tea eggs are packed with five spice deliciousness!!! The other items are also inventive and wonderful but since I don't have much of a sweet tooth, I will likely stick to the egg and tea eggs. But if you have a sweet tooth, then this is a great place to try everything.

    Variety of treats.

Wowwwww it's been a while since I took a bite of something and my jaw drops and I just lose my train of thought and keep saying oh my gawd. That happened today after I took my first bite Of YOTS egg tart. It was incredible. Inside was the delicious sweet egg custard and the outside was a buttery flaky crust that takes you to a special place. Sweet staff. Can't wait to go back.

I couldn't eat anything here, but I saw their sign when I was going to Third Culture to pick up some food. I saw that they had an egg custard tart that people love. My husband loves an egg custard. So I got two and picked up a few other things. He absolutely loved it, he thought that the crust was a bit hard, but I'm sure it would have been perfect for me. But I don't like egg and am allergic to wheat. But the two women in the place were really sweet and kind. They greeted me and were totally accommodating to me. I brought my husband by another day, but they were closed. I hope they are still open because I want my husband to choose what he wants. At this time, supporting a mom and pop or mom and daughter operation feels good. Especially since what they offer is so dang good! I know that they are open here only on Sundays, but I hope that at some point they can have more days or more availability.

I think it might've been a bit undercooked... I don't think I would try another one unfortunately. I think I would also stick with the sweet bakery items moving forward. I also ordered a lychee strawberry matcha milk tea (with the oat milk option) and I was pretty happy with that purchase. Overall, I wouldn't dock them more than a star for the underwhelming pastry because most of the others are excellent. It might just be that savory isn't their thing...

I liked all of their Kouign Amanns a lot, especially the strawberry one which added a nice fruit element! Their kouign amanns have very crispy layers and very flaky. I'd honestly recommend all 6 of the pastries we tried, especially since the prices for this place are lower (~$6) than some other high quality bakeries around the Oakland and SF area. Visit date: 4/19/2026…read more We came about an hour before closing on a Sunday, so unfortunately many of the items I wanted to try based on other people's recommendations were already sold out. We ended up getting three things: * The cheese twist was soooo good! The cheese was flavorful and the pastry itself was perfectly done. * The apple pastry was interesting. Unlike many places where the pastry is either bland or overly sweet, Acme's pastry had a slight saltiness to it, which I actually think is genius. I almost always prefer a hint of savory flavor to balance out the sweetness from the filling or topping. My only issue with this one was that the apple topping was not sweet at all and leaned more tart, so paired with the salty pastry, it was not quite the flavor combination I was hoping for. * The mini raspberry pastry had the same issue for me. The raspberry topping was just a bit too tart and sour for my taste. Even though not everything was a hit for me, I would definitely come back and give this bakery another chance, especially since we arrived so late and missed out on many of their most popular items.
