It's located in a small strip shopping center that almost looks like it's attached to a church. The staff is so friendly and helpful. We've tried the regular beef and the buffalo burgers (burgers are huge - hubby and I usually split one), tator tots - it's a huge portion with plenty to share and the Mama's fruit pies are to die for! So far, we've tried the tri-berry, blueberry, strawberry, cherry, apple and peach. My goal is to try them all! We usually order "to-go" so we reheat up the pies a little bit (again sharing one cuz they're big) and add a little bit of vanilla ice cream - delicioso!! Another sketchy review ... This joint is an absolute gem! It is unique and full of character without trying hard. The friendly owner greeted me as I came in and took my order (Butcher Burger with cheese, all the way.) The burger was absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly - had just the slightest blush of pink on the inside. The order of fries was very generous - I couldn't finish them, and for me to leave food on the plate is rare. It seemed like a lot of the lunch crowd were regulars and knew the owner. We came here on a mission to try their burgers as we had heard they were voted the best in Plano. We can appreciate why they've been recognized as we had a really great lunch. My husband went for their standard beef burger with cheese and the works along with an order of fries. I enjoyed the buffalo burger with cheese and all of the works (minus onions) and a side of tots. Both of us enjoyed our meal selections with the buffalo burger being our favorite given the flavor and we likes the tots over the fries. We have been wanting to try this place for 30 years. Loved our burger, bbq. Sausage, sweet potato tots and potato salad. We went through website to order through Grubhub. Only issue is that one burger on order was missing (paid for two) and wanted both to be well done. The one burger was too pink to be well done. Mistakes happen but just takes a second to read the customer order and count items. Grubhub gave me a credit but felt bad because one person out of three did not get a burger. The French fries are um, well ... addictive. An order of fries is big enough for two people to share, even so, we had some leftover. Yes, we were stuffed. The real star though is the burger. I hate to put it this way, but I do have a big mouth. My friends would likely attest to this. Despite this, it was difficult to get that burger in my mouth, it was so big. Tasty!!! Served on a brioche bun, made fresh for them, these burgers are huge on flavor every bit as much as they are in size. I couldn't quite finish mine, but I did come close. Don't miss out on their fresh fried pies. My wife got cherry,and I got peach. I don't usually like pie crust. These were an exception. I ate every bite. My guess is that they went Uber traditional and used beef tallow in the crust. They have a big selection. One final thing ... get some of their hot links to take home. They are so very good... Fries, onion rings, chicken fried steak and the burger needed salt. There wasn't any. You can add salt to fries and onion rings at the table and get the same impact. After reading reviews had to try we ordered 3 cheese burgers and two burgers fries and onion rings. They were ok. They ranged from medium (little pink inside) to almost burnt. I have eaten here several times, I kept hoping it would get better. This place has been around since the 70's. It was in another location, but still the same business. Hubby says the burgers were big and worth the price. Every time I go here, I get a dry piece of Buffalo meat with the driest bun ever! No amount of condiments can make this burger enjoyable. The bun overwhelmingly does not fit the meat. I'm chocking down a sawdust burger held together with some unknown binder. Every time it's way over cooked. Ugh! This last time I added onion rings. Those were over cooked and I sent them to the trash. I should have said something when they called out my number. They were burnt. And they came recommended. Boo! I have given this place multiple opportunities to provide a nice burger. The price is high for what you get. I don't mind the price if the product is worthy. It's always busy. It may just be me. It has multiple exotic meats to choose from. Avoid the wild boar meat too. It's weird tasting. This place is full of police officers. Makes me feel super safe. It's been almost nine years, but my opinion still stands for the most part. The biggest flaw is the lack of taste from the meat. Whether buffalo or elk, it doesn't taste like anything. Most of the flavor comes from the cheese or the tomatoes. It still has the vibe of a homemade burger, which is fine but the lack of flavor in the meat is a disappointment. Their fried pies though are top notch. I don't know of any place in Dallas that actually makes hand pies from scratch like this place does. They bundle the crust on the edges to create these buttons of crispy fried goodness. The pie crust they formed is what I would want from a pie to begin with: buttery, slightly flaky, and golden brown. I ended up getting the triple berry flavor, and they stuff these to the gills. This isn't any fake can filling. This tastes like they use real fruit. But sometimes, it was a little too sweet, but not enough to feel like sugar overload. Overall, the fried pies are probably the one thing that will actually keep me coming back (more frequently). read more
