It's been quite a journey but that's for a good reason. That reason boils down to the fact that…read morehe's a true craftsman. This whole journey started with our friends from Olde World Chimney Sweep, who noticed our fireplace was too dangerous to use, and recommended Ken. They told me he's hard to reach sometimes, but I'm glad I followed thru. Long story short: he rebuilt our fireplace and flue from the ground up: masonry to chimney cap to damper to firebox. His truck which is basically a traveling workshop from which he does nearly EVERYTHING himself, other than fabricating a chimney cap...he uses a sheet metal guy for that. Otherwise he cuts metal, cuts stone, cuts and sizes wood, makes mortar and all out there. This all after giving us an estimate by visiting our home and thoroughly discussing what we were looking for. During the whole process of the rebuild, Ken explained every step back to us. He gave us a synopsis of what he would do from one day to the next, and wrap up his day with us by recapping and looking toward what the next day would bring. He's been in this business for well over 35 years and it shows. He's quite meticulous and definitely is "old school" in his work ethic as well as attention to detail. If something is off by even a quarter inch, he will make the correction without hesitation. His attention to detail also comes into play when he's finished working. He cleans up everything and hauls everything off with no fuss. I found myself aghast when he submitted his bill...it wasn't ONE CENT over his estimate: not one! I say so because he wound up performing extra work to get to the end product. So not only is he a craftsman with a good work ethic, but is priced reasonably, too! For the amount of work we had done...wow! I was honestly expecting a much bigger price tag at the end! He is very easy to work with and has a pleasant demeanor also. He definitely does what he says and works with his clients on what it is they wish. He passed on a couple of interesting stories about some of his work too. That helped in guiding us in terms of refining just exactly what we were looking for...and received IN SPADES!!! THANKS KEN!!!!

I identified myself as one of their existing customers and they responded that it was supposed to rain that afternoon and they weren't sure if they could get to us that day or not. I strongly discourage anyone from using Cozy Climate. They installed the HVAC system in our new…read moreconstruction home, and within six months it began failing. Over the next two years, our family spent a total of 67 days without air conditioning because of repeated breakdowns and failed repairs. The biggest issue was the condenser coil failing four separate times. Two of those failures were directly tied to Cozy Climate's workmanship by the manufacturer of the AC unit and an independent HVAC contractor. One coil was installed incorrectly, placing stress on it until it cracked. Another failed because when repairing the unit from an improper install, the owner of the company overheated the copper connection, making it brittle and causing it to crack. An improperly installed TXV also led to repeated misdiagnoses and unnecessary refrigerant charges instead of correcting the actual problem. Repairs were rarely completed correctly on the first visit. We were repeatedly forced to take time off work because Cozy Climate had to return multiple times to diagnose or complete the same repair. In one instance, they failed to bring a basic leak detector, then returned with a defective one, requiring three separate visits in one week just to properly diagnose the problem. The system was "repaired" so many times that the HVAC unit ultimately had to be completely replaced at just 2 1/2 years old, something no homeowner should ever experience with a brand-new system. To make matters worse, Cozy Climate refused to provide copies of my service records because my home builder paid them directly, even though the work was performed on my home. As the homeowner, I should not have had to fight to obtain the repair history of my own HVAC system. After researching local Facebook community groups, I found numerous homeowners describing similar issues with HVAC systems installed by Cozy Climate in new construction homes. I encourage anyone considering this company to do their research before making a decision. Based on my experience, I have absolutely no confidence in Cozy Climate's installation quality, workmanship, diagnostic abilities, or customer service, and I cannot recommend them. Worst of all, these repairs were mainly completed by the owner and license holder himself.

Update: After writing the original review, Steve threatened to sue me unless I took this review…read moredown. Although all information in the previous review was correct and true, I have modified the review to focus on events instead of specific conversations. Summary: After agreeing on the price and after signing, the co-owner Steve cancels the contract and walks out. Why? Because I asked for clarification about some terms in the contract and requested that the work described in the contract be updated to reflect what was promised. Details: I had Steve come out to look at our A/C (on 9/9/26) that had a burnt electric smell. He diagnosed the issue and gave an estimate on the repairs, which were too expensive for the age of the system. Steve gave us a replacement quote and we parted ways with the knowledge that I would get multiple estimates and call him back. I called back that night and agreed to hire Avalon Air. The next day (9/10/26) Steve came out to get a signed paper contract. This was the series of events: As I read through the contract, I noticed a checkbox that was not checked: "Complete system start up". I asked if this was included. He appeared agitated that I was reading the contract. He checked the box and gave the contract back to me. I then asked if he registers the product with the warranty agency or if I have to. Steve let me know that his company takes care of that. I asked if he could write that on the contract where the other notes were. He appeared to not be thrilled with this, but wrote it out. The last thing I asked was about the signature line. It states "I have authority to order the work outlined above which has been satisfactorily completed". This did not make sense as it had not been completed. I pointed this issue out in the contract, but I said that since he was not charging till after the job was done, I have no issue. This was solely to let him know about the typo in case he wanted to modify it for future contracts. After we both signed the contract, Steve got up, took the contract, said he would not work with me, then packed up and left. Steve proceeded to take the portable A/C unit that he set up when he arrived. In his haste to leave he was not careful with the unit and left a long water line through our house. As he is leaving I calmly asked that we discuss what the issue was before he left. I informed him that I always read contracts to ensure I understand the terms. I also did not ask for any terms in the contract to be changed, just a request to add a couple work items that he verbally guaranteed. He appeared very unhappy that I asked about conditions in Avalon's contract. I did not demand changes to terms, only to update the list of required work to match what was verbally agreed to. I did not give attitude. No company should have issues answering questions about their contract.

Been using 75 Air since we purchased our house a few years back…read more Our AC was original to the house so it has aged a lot. Called around and 75 was able to come out the same day if not next morning. First time I called it was a capacitor. I knew it was based on the sound it was making but was very busy with work. They came out replaced it and also did a general maintenance on it. At this time we continue to use 75 AC as they were very reasonable price and upfront about everything. We had them come out a few more times as they told us the unit was on its last leg. They were able to get it up and running each time but also gave us months of heads up to start putting money back for it. Unfortunately that time has come. Our system needed some serious work as the line was going out and the unit couldn't take it anymore. We bit the bullet and had them replace our Ac and heater. It's pricey no matter where you go but the price was reasonable and they were out a few days later to install everything within a few house. Highly recommend them!

They quickly scheduled a technician and even texted me his arrival time and photo. The technician was also very professional and courteous, including wearing booties to protect my floors. He identified a leaking hot-water pipe where it came through the slab and discussed two repair options with me. I chose the less-invasive option of running a new line from the water heater rather than breaking up the concrete. Unfortunately, after consulting with his supervisor, I was told Mears would not do that repair and instead recommended either breaking up the concrete for about $1,600 or a whole-house repipe costing around $10,000. I was unable to speak directly with the supervisor. I called another plumbing company the next day. Their technician looked at the same problem, agreed to the less-invasive repair, completed it in about three hours, and charged $900. I want to emphasize that I was impressed with the Mears technician and office staff. My disappointment was with the supervisor's decision and the company's approach to the repair. Ultimately, that decision cost Mears the job. I would recommend getting a second opinion before committing to a major repair or whole-house repipe.
