We had a great, GREAT server named Maggie Chen, whose name I am mentioning here due to the fact she was able to set us up with a free desert for a kind (and fair!) review. So here is my (updated) review: - The rolls we ordered were tasty and fresh. (For me, the Rapunzel Roll SLAPS. I ordered the same one - unknowingly - both times I have been here!) - We shared the Wagyu dumplings and the Shrimp shumai and they were honestly SOOOO GOOD. Finger-licking good!! - We also shared then chicken lo mein - also delicious and a big portion (there were some leftovers) - The staff is always kind and very friendly. Again, Maggie was really sweet, accommodating, took pictures for us and of course helped sing the HBD song which never not embarrasses me ever. darn. time. The ambiance is also always very chill, but a hit higher scale, with its beautifully colored mosaic-like rounded booths and a big, full bar, too. Knowing Mito is so good now and so close to my house can be a bit of a problem. I may become a regular but I guess that'd be a good thing for the business, HA. Thanks Mito for a special birthday dinner! Here's to more to come.

Even the bathroom was impressively nice, which always says a lot about a restaurant's attention to detail. The food and drinks were on point. The crab fried rice, fried shrimp toast, rib lamb were all flavorful and well-prepared. One standout for me was the spring rolls--they were so good, crispy and packed with flavor. The drinks were also great, making the overall dining experience even better. Between the great food, nice atmosphere, and convenient location, it's definitely a place I'd go back to again. First, the owners are some of the kindest, most thoughtful hosts you could hope to meet. You can feel how much they care about their community the moment you walk in. They've also made real efforts to make the space accessible for different bodies, which is something that far too few restaurants consider. That level of intention and hospitality truly stands out. And then there's the food -- absolutely phenomenal. Every dish feels intentional, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Standouts for me: Shrimp Toast - the best I've ever had. Perfectly crisp, rich, and balanced. Duck - deeply flavorful and cooked to perfection. Ribs - tender, savory, and incredibly satisfying. Char Siu - sweet, smoky, and melt-in-your-mouth good. Eggplant - unbelievably delicious and a must-order. Monkey King is the kind of place you leave already planning your next visit. Amazing food, genuine hospitality, and a space that feels welcoming and thoughtful. Highly recommend supporting this gem.

The Chacha Noodles with Fried Pork Belly.came out steaming hot from the kitchen. Bouncy noodles paired with crisp veggies balanced well together. The pork was crisp as well, though some pieces were a bit overdone. I do wish the pieces were sliced a bit bigger... maybe would help it not be overdone. They give a good amount though. I love the hot sauce. The Butterfly Pea Lemonade was a little on the sweet side for me, but had a good amount of sourness to balance most of it out. A decent Thai spot in the area.

The window seat was cute, but it was hotter indoors than it was outside, which was a little crazy, we were literally rolling beads of sweat while eating and not from the spice. We got a few appetizers and some main courses. I have the pad see ew and vegetable dumplings which both were lovely. You're not coming here for the service honestly, as there was close to none, I must've called the server at least a dozen times and he was in his phone chilling. I don't know if I'll be back, maybe in the winter. It was just a strange experience on the whole, even with the food being good... yah who knows if I'll be back!

I haven't been in Maspeth in so long since intermediate school so that was interesting... Their autumn menu was just added so no reviews on the new dishes but definitely had to order everyone's favorite...the BLT fried rice. Then 2 new ones...Laksa and Petit beef.. Cocktails ..tea one for me and L had something with the fancy big ice cube. The drinks were actually very good. Didn't taste strong, but the alcohol sneaks up on you. Driftwood's version literally was 10x better than the bacon fried rice I had months ago in the city. Loved the bacon. The tobiko actually added a lot to the dish. The pop in each bite, I really enjoyed it. It really was one of the best dishes. It almost reminded me of Chinese sticky fried rice.. We almost didn't get the Laksa since we're not really into clams that much and sometimes a clam broth can be too fishy but this was delicious. The broth was light but enough to taste the clams, curry flavor..the first clam had a lil sand but the rest were clean. They used Shanghai noodles over udon. L actually loved the clams..loved the seasoning they used. The only dish that we didn't care too much for, was the beef dish. It was just okay. Lil too much sauce which overpowered the beef, would prefer it medium, but it was also sliced very thin. The other two dishes were just so good .. I wanted to add one more item since I know everyone raves about it, the rice noodle dish.. I'm Chinese ..I've eaten rice noodles since I was a lil kid...like how are they going to elevate a cheap dish practically every Chinese person has eaten... I was actually full at this point and I just ordered my second drink...Enter the Dragon.. Anyway.. these rice noodles ...are not typical rice noodles you get from a cart...not even the ones you order freshly made... these were pillowy soft....... Reminded me of gnocchi but better? I managed to eat four bites before my stomach burst and L finished the rest. He loved the peanuts and the pieces of shrimp...like Cajun style almost. The peanuts worked too since we use peanut sauce on rice rolls. Who knew, Parmesan on rice rolls.. at first L didn't think he'd like this dish but he loved it after the second bite. Really flavorful... The service. Only one person, the owner? working in the dining area. We weren't in a rush and it was a very late lunch for us..early dinner for others. There were two other tables with diners. Located in Maspeth, it's not that busy.. we did go on a weekday too. It wasn't too slow still and we were given yummy peanuts to snack on as we waited for our food. Overall I really did like the food here and the atmosphere is great if you're lookin for a place that's not going to rush you out. I actually preferred this meal compared to my last one in the city that cost 2x as much. Even though I enjoyed that restaurant as well but for different reasons. 3 shareable mains was enough for us 2 but we got 4 in the end and were stuffed..
