YC was great to work with. Shared a good estimate ahead of visiting and stayed well within the range after checking out the work. Keep the inside of my house clean as they ran the cabling through the ceiling and made it very easy to patch up after they were done. Workmanship was great and they were extremely efficient and finished much faster than expected. read more

Had a referral and based on the 5 star Yelp reviews, I contacted YC Electric. Easy to contact him (best way is text) to setup a time for him to fix my items. Very nice man and also put foot coverings walking around the house (a plus). Yi came over to fix an outlet, dimmers and fan speed switch, and a dimmer on one of our recessed lighting. Will also schedule another appt to get our dining room chandelier installed real soon. Very reasonable rates and truly recommend him for any electrical work! read more

I needed an electrician to replace a number of fluorescent lights with recessed lighting in my new acupuncture clinic. It can feel quite scary finding a contractor / electrician that hasn't been recommended to you. However I was amazed / reassured by the number of glowing reviews YC Electric had. When I first spoke to YC Electric they were at an advantage when Yi told me his wife is also an acupuncturist and we knew people in common. I got three quotes for the work, and YC Electric were by far the most reasonable, but even if they hadn't been I wanted to work with Yi because he was so helpful. He was able to do the work really quickly, my new lights look fantastic and I would highly recommend YC Electric and am happy to have found a local electrician who goes above and beyond. read more

YC electric are real pros. We've used their services for a number of projects of varying size and complexity, and they've always impressed us with their professionalism, skill, honestly, and efficiency. A this point we wouldn't even consider going with anyone else. Would definitely recommend to all our friends. read more

We've used Yi twice now, and we are so thankful to have found "our electrician!" Yi and his team are fantastic - knowledgeable, hard working, and have excellent attention to detail - plus they clean up after themselves and make a great effort to do their work without causing any damage to drywall/siding/etc. Yi has now done the following for us - replaced an old sparking outdoor flood light, re-wired and replaced a back outdoor outlet, installed an entirely new front outdoor outlet, installed a can light in our living room, installed wiring for new ceiling lights and fans in three bedrooms, installed dimmer switches, and fixed several outlets. Each time they've come, they have done great work. Highly recommend and have passed his info to our friends in the area. Thank you, Yi!! read more

This is who you call if you want something done right and done efficiently! We needed an electrician to help update a panel to accomodate a gas generator and rewire it so that only the essentials we needed would be powered in the event of an outage . Yi was knowledgeable, providing recommendations and options for us to consider in purchasing the right size and type of generator for our home. I'd recommend this company to friends/family and they'd be my first call for any future electrician needs. read more

I almost don't want to share how awesome YC is because then they'll be busier. We had Yi out to switch our light fixtures and he was awesome. On time and quick, plus so nice! we couldn't have been happier with his work and look forward to working with him again in the future! read more

Yi and his team are very professional, knowledgeable, and do great work! I recently purchased my first home and Yi took care of some electrical work I wanted done before I got moved in. I had recessed lights put in, additional outlets, and cat6 ran throughout the house and outside for security cams back in May. They showed up early and when the job ended up being more complicated than initially anticipated (read: old house probs), they stayed late to ensure that all the work was done in one day. Yi was such a big help! He helped me prioritize other various work that I needed/would need to get done and gave me solid answers to my numerous questions. Also, one of my recessed lights started to have issues last weekend. I sent Yi a text with a video of the issue and that very same day Yi and his team came out and fixed it! If that's not great costumer service, I don't know what is! I highly recommend him and his team! I've already contacted him about work for my next project; kitchen renovation! read more

We solicited a number of quotes to install recessed LED lights in the living room of our 1940s colonial. Yi and his team not only offered the most competitive price, but they backed it with a five-year warranty and their work was impeccable. We will absolutely be using them for all our electrical work going forward. read more

Thanks to YC for walking me through what turned out to be an easy fix!!! Rapid response using text and video allowed him to ID and point out the specific issue. Then took the time to work with me, again via text/video to correct the issue. A Godsend, especially during COVID! Thanks YC, you earned another customer for life! read more

YC Electric - Aspirational, of course! - Electricians Near Me

We were a little leery with going a quote from text messages and photos alone, but Yi and his team were fantastic. We hired them to install a fan on our porch and to troubleshoot some electrical issues we were having in the back of the house. Yi arrived early to take a look at the porch and suggest a way to install the fan in the cleanest possible way. We had previously had someone from 4ServicePros take a look and provide us with a quote, and it was like night and day. Yi's solution was streamlined, clean, and the best use of space with the minimum of cuts. The holes that were cut into our dry wall were also straight lines that were extremely easy to fill in afterwards. As for troubleshooting our electrical problems in the back, the 4ServicePros professional had suggested cutting multiple holes into the back area, but Yi fixed our problem with no cuts and what seemed like a minimum of fuss. Yi also sent us a chart for our electrical box afterwards (because it hadn't been labeled properly). We will definitely be going with YC Electric for all electrical issues in the future. Just a warning, though, they are very busy (and for good reason)! read more

Yi and his team do stellar work. Hire them! I've worked with Yi twice--once at my old house, once at my new house. Whenever I have other electrical needs, I will not hestiate to contact Yi. Why? First, the quality of work. At my new house, Yi and his team installed overhead lights in 3 upstairs bedrooms and a electric car charger in the garage. The installation was fast, clean, and extremely well done. Second, the level of professionalism. Before both jobs, Yi talked with me to better understand my needs. Upon arriving on site, Yi carefully examined the job site(s), clearly explained my options, and expertly articulated his recommendation. Importantly, many recommendations resulted in less money in Yi's pocket. For my car charger, Yi proposed a clever way to install faster and cheaper. For overhead lights in the living room, Yi suggested that I hold off on installing additional lights until I finish remodelling the adjacent kitchen, so that the overall lighting design would be coherent. Putting the customer over profit--for me, that is the pinnacle of professionalism. Third, the smart way of working. Before taking on a job, Yi collects some basic project information via text, including photos/videos of what needs to be done where. This has several benefits. For both Yi and the customer, this saves time--time lost to repeat site visits, time clarifying the scope of work, and time spent during the service visit. By saving his team's time, Yi is able to provide a very high quality of service for a very reasonable price. And by seeing the job site virtually before visiting it physically, Yi and his team can work swiftly but surgically once on site. Also, in my case, Yi used the videos and photos I sent him to come up with several potential solutions of how to intall the car charger. His cleverest solution--brainstormed based on my pictures and confirmed once on site--was the one that worked best. If you need an electrician, hire Yi and his team! read more

5 star service and communication. Quality of the work speaks for itself and I'm glad I got my electric car charger installed inside my home with YC Electric. Turn around time was also very quick from time of estimate to job execution. Great value and never gave me the run-around like many other contractors do. read more

I cannot say enough positive things about YC Electric, or Mr. Chang. While other companies insisted I needed thousands of dollars in costly upgrades to fix my flickering lights, Mr. Chang came out and found the ACTUAL problem in minutes, and fixed it the next morning for a fraction of what I was prepared to pay. I mean, I was expecting to need a heavy-up to 150-200 amps, and I would have paid it, but he calmly walked me through why I didn't need it. "My job is to find and fix problems, not sell you what you don't need" he told me when he was done, and that's exactly what he did. If I had to sum up my experience in one word, it would be "honest". If I EVER need electrical work in the future, Mr. Chang at YC Electric will be my first and only call. read more

Yi and his team are reliable and always do great work. We love our house, but it... let's just say has many quirks, including how it's wired. YC Electric has helped us fix a few different electrical issues in separate occasions, and every time the work is done quickly, effectively, and at a reasonable price. Hugely recommend to anyone looking for an honest electrician that does great work. read more

YC Electric is my go-to electrician! Yi has done all electrical work in my house since I've owned it (7+ years). He has done various electrical work such as but not limited to installing recessed lights, breakers, light switches, and most recently Tesla Home Charging Station. YC Electric provide the highest quality service, fair pricing, and responsive communication. Highly recommend! read more

Had a generator hardwire installation done. Yi was honest, professional, timely and a pleasure overall. He saved me a ton of money by suggesting an interlock rather than a sub-panel. Will certainly hire him again for any future projects! read more

I cannot recommend YC Electric enough! Yi has worked with us a few times and he and his team always do a phenomenal job. They have fixed faulty electrical with our dishwasher and made sure it wasn't going to start a fire. Yi replaced all of the faulty dimmers in our new home, and his team quickly installed our new electric cook top. They are polite, efficient and never leave a mess behind. HIGHLY recommend for your electrician needs! read more

We went with YC Electric for the install of our TV. After a multi-day disaster with Best Buy, this team's quick and efficient work to get the TV up was such a breath of fresh air. The team members were timely and made quick work of getting the TV mounted and positioned flawlessly. They were also super personable and left the place spotless. This was exactly what I needed and didn't receive before so there's no doubt who I'm going to for any future electric services. I highly recommend. read more

Yi and his team provided an outstanding service. I had a major electrical fire which burned my entire electrical box and wires. The firefighters who had to cut thru walls told me to prepare for at least a month of contraction and repair. I was in a panic called couple of places, got so lucky to find YC electric. Yi is incredibly knowledgeable and explains really well. He documents everything with nice pictures and videos and provides estimates at very reasonable cost. It helps a lot to have his pictures when you deal with insurances. His team is very quick, quite and clean. They were in and out in two days. I have a beautiful new electrical box, and they even installed a switch for my new emergency generator. They labeled all new cables and even left me a plastic cover for the dry wall for our painter. I found them thanks to the great Yelp community and I am happy to provide referrals. read more

We needed an electrician to come in and put in recessed lighting in our family room as well as installing a chandelier. We live in an older colonial style house and the wiring is still the original so I wanted someone with a lot of experience. We actually had several people come out and give us a variety of different quotes. Each of them also had differing opinions on how to complete the job. YC Electric came out and based on all the reviews I was very excited for them to tell me what they thought. From the very beginning Yi was the most knowledgeable and that put me at ease. They were also very responsive which is a must! On instal day, his team were AMAZING. We ran into some issues with our ceiling and couldn't go with the original plan but the team realized the issue, tried to give several options and ended up with an AMAZING outcome. We love the lights and the way they look. I also changed several things on them during the project and they were very accommodating. I was home on maternity leave during this time and they were very conscious about the dust and tried their best to contain and clean up. They did a great job and his team were all gentlemen. Will definitely be my go to electrician. read more

This was such a great experience in terms of quality of work, price, and responsiveness: * Timely response to a text requesting work, with good communication back and forth to make sure what I thought I needed was actually the best solution for me. * When team was delayed at another project, the owner came himself to my home to do the work. * Again while on site, there were questions to confirm the work and options we had not considered. These were not upsell, they were options to minimize the damage to drywall and to get us the best result. * Work was fast, fair price, and everything works perfectly. I can't imagine working with anyone else for electrical. read more

Yi was originally a second opinion who has officially gained my business through his promptness, honesty, pricing, and knowledge of the work. We were originally quoted $800+ to fix our flickering lights from another electrician. He was going to rewire the whole house and cut out drywall. Before I committed I got Yi over to take a look and he was able to not only confirm that wasn't the issue (and explaining why), but found the issue on the outside of the house. He saved me money and a huge headache, and of course, fixed my flickering lights in a few hours. I'd recommend YC for anyone looking for transparency and affordability, as well as overall kindness in the process! read more

YC was great. They showed up exactly when they said they would, diagnosed the problems, and then solved them in short order for a reasonable fee. Could not ask for more! read more

They are the only ones I trust to fix and install things around the house. Very professional and reliable. They installed all my lighting fixtures when I bought my house. Everything was professionally done and so happy on how they installed everything. When I had a problem with my electricity going off on several parts of the house, Yi figured the problem right away. You'll never go wrong with YC electric. read more

I was looking for a good reliable electrician that could tackle some projects at our condo. Yi and his team are super professional, on time and extremely knowledgeable. Not only they were fast, but they were able to complete the job and install two new outlets without breaking any walls (besides the area of the outlets). They also changed all the light fixtures and fans, quickly and almost with no noise! I'm so glad I hire them. read more

YC electric, did a phenomenal job in listening to my concerns and delivering. I had a braker panel upgraded and replaced, installed a new meter, removed all old cables and unsafe wires, switched outlets for GFI. The crew were punctual, professional, respectful of my home and neat. I plan to call them back for my next project. Thank you again YC electric!!!! Respectfully, Adey G. H-M read more

We had Yi Chang rescue us twice after false starts with inept electricians. He was able to come even on a holiday and quickly resolved several issues from fixing shorts in kitchen wiring and in our fuse box. He was so professional, polite and helpful with suggestions re possible options for other problems. His pricing was more than fair and for once I have someone to recommend to friends and neighbors without reservation. Claire M. read more

YC Electric has fixed many electrical problems for us. From small jobs to large ones they have been reliable , efficient, safe and most importantly paid attention to our needs. We have used Yi for things like rewiring a chandelier, fixing old outlets, replacing a whole house box on a 70 year old electrical service, installing a Tesla charger, fixing a blown circuit by an appliance installer and re attaching said appliance correctly...we have been pleased every time. Can't say enough good things about Yi and his team. They were communicative, professional, and provided multiple options for how the job could get done. Once I accepted the proposal, he was very quick to schedule the work, and then his team came on time and did a very clean job installing the outdoor charger. I had several follow up questions after the work was done, and Yi was super accessible and quick to respond to my questions via text. If I have future electrical needs, I'll be sure to reach out to Yi again. Thank you! read more

Responsible, transparent pricing, knows what he's doing, and is personable. Rather than try to fix it ourselves, we just call YC and can trust that he's fixing the problem the right way and not overcharging us. I'm so glad we have an electrician we can call when needed. read more

Yi did a fantastic job installing a 240V receptacle in my garage and repairing a janky light switch in my bathroom. Communication beforehand was efficient via texting to determine the scope of the job and the cost, and on the day of the job Yi communicated his whereabouts and arrival time. He worked efficiently and was very thorough, and was done with both issues in about an hour! Thank you Yi and YC Electric. He's good, honest, fast and efficient. Came within a few days of first reaching out. Wore mask and observed social distancing. Quickly fixed five or six outlets that weren't working in around half an hour and was on his way out. I strongly recommend him and will use him next time if I have any issues. The price he gave me is normal for the rates of dc and northern Virginia and other electricians gave me a much higher rate. Overall thank you for the amazing service you were one of a kind! read more

I can not recommend this electrician highly enough. After years of home ownership I've had my fair share of electricians. Quality ranges- but reliability is always such a huge issue. I texted YC electric (their preferred communication method) yesterday. We exchanged some texts- they came today- sorted out problem- they made a run to hardware store for a few extra parts- problem solved. I truly cannot ask for more. Just got an invoice and feel price is totally in line with other good vendors. YC will be my go-to electrician from now on... read more

I opted for YC Electric after I googled "best DC area electrician" and noticed they had a very high rating. My expectations were high after that, and Yi met them easily. He was easy to contact, transparent about pricing and scheduling, and his team wore PPE and did fantastic work getting recessed lighting in my living room. It took less than 4 hours and totally transformed the space! The biggest surprise was how little cleanup there was--we were originally planning to hire a handyman to patch up the drywall after the lights went in, but the team only left one small hole in my ceiling that we patched ourselves. My husband and I are so happy with the job, we immediately hired Yi a second time, this time for new lights in another room. read more

Yi was efficient, fast, knowledgeable, and professional. Yi was able to accommodate my work schedule to come out and service our house on short notice. We were having difficulties with the power going out on the second floor of the house since we had moved in. Yi, came out and diagnosed the problem, and fixed it immediately. Yi, was also able to diagnose an issue with our yard lamp, and give us a few sensible recommendations on how to fix the issue long term. I can not say enough about efficient and professional service that we received from YC Electric. We will definitely use them again when the need arises. **UPDDATE** We called Yi and his team for a second project. Yi and his team came and installed security cameras and a light post outside. They beat competitors prices significantly, and were efficant and professional as the first visit. By far the best electricians we have found in DC. YOU CAN NOT GO WRONG WITH YC ELECTRIC!! read more

Yi is very very quick with communication and was understanding of my needs and how to do the job to make sure all my concerns were met. He is also knowledgeable and creative with any problems you want him to fix. Highly recommended for any work you have for him.
