Splash in a perfect pool and hot tub as needed, mix it all together and you become the best partner ever for pulling off the best birthday celebration ever! Who knew??!! Painting with Canvas is the bomb! The price is right, and they bring all the needed supplies. All we had to do was extend invites and make sure we had tables and chairs. Francesca and her assistant Lana couldn't have been more enjoyable during the event, and Stephanie - who helps support from afar - made it all seem so very easy, so much help to make this a perfect evening. One thing in particular we enjoyed was Francesca shared a lot of information about the painting we were doing as we moved through the evening - details about the artist, his life, and how it related to the painting. Who Knew??!! You can have fun AND learn at the same time! Don't worry - if you've never put brush to paint to canvas before ... if you can't draw a box (like me) - you CAN do this! They step you through each part to create your masterpiece, and along the way they help you learn technique, understand some of the painting concepts, as well as help you to enjoy painting your own creation! We will do it again, and next time, perhaps, we'll have the easels setup poolside and have everyone in the water! I can't stress enough how fun it was to host this at our home. Our friends still talk about how much they enjoyed the evening! Several have asked that we do it again! Home Run, ladies, with the bases loaded! Until next time...

With that said I found a really great offer on Living Social for a 2 hour paint class for 2 for the price of one person with Painting on Canvas so I bought it an then I quickly messaged my partner in crime and see if she was up for it, and thankfully she said yes! Booked a class a month out from when I bought the deal and waited for the day. I was a bundle of nerves, I can't draw, seriously can not draw, but Francesca was super nice and helpful and gave great instructions and technique and slowly my blank white canvas started to have something on it, that looked ok. This was fun, it was stressful because I was fearful of messing up (which I did plenty of) but it was fun and rewarding, and honestly I can't wait to do it again haha. Who knows maybe the inner artist in me will finally work their way out! Now time to find my next class with Painting On Canvas.

So I thought I would get a few of my girlfriends to go with me and have a fun night of wine and painting! This whole process was very smooth. From the user friendly website to chose what and where you want to paint, and reserving your date. I even got a reminder email with detailed instructions for my painting night. The image I chose for girls night was Moonlight at the San Pasqual Wine tasting room in La Mesa. The San Pasqual tasting room was located in a very cute and walkable area in La Mesa. There was plenty of street parking, and I didn't have any problems finding the location or parking. It is a 3 hour event, so depending on the location, availability of food varies. The winery offered cheese platters and a variety of wines. Since they didn't have food, we were allowed to bring in food from neighboring restaurants. I chose a glass of their sangria for my drink of choice. I absolutely loved it. It was the perfect blend of wine and citrus. The whole experience was awesome and I had so much fun! I love my painting and I already have it on my wall! I'm planning another one with the girls already! Jason is a really good teacher! He's patient, funny, and talented in addition to being able to survive a room of primarily women drinking and painting! I completely recommend Paint-A-holics for a girls night or a date night!

Maybe they are all like that, but it literally just looked like she turned on her video camera and painted it for the 1st time. She had such a small space and had the original painting right next to hers so it was even smaller space and was hard to follow. Her painting also didn't look like the actual picture. And many times throughout the painting, it was hard to tell what color she was using. I've only been to one paint and sip in person, but she told us which color to use each and every time. The instructor also has no Enthusiasm and Just seemed like she rolled out of bed and was bored the whole time. Erica, who teaches the class, is there to go step by step to give everyone in a small group a chance to create their own masterpiece, or just enjoy the company if others! She will answer questions, make suggestions to help fix your errors, or prevent you from making them. She is very encouraging, and not judgmental and doesn't mind if you change things up a little as I did, when I tried this a few weeks ago. You get to take your masterpiece home at the end of the class. If you like it, hang it up. If not, do what you want Me, I like to hang things up as a reminder that none of us are perfect and you should keep trying. Maybe you just meet a new friend, or learn about others. I will post a picture of my Arizona Sunset, not because it is great... it isn't--but that doesn't mean I don't like it ; and many were better than mine (I do much better with photography), but because it was fun and might give someone an idea that yes they can do this. It is a great idea for a date night (and she even tells you how to make it a "couples painting"). It would be great for friends or a special night, or just to go do something, even by yourself as I did. The price is reasonable, in fact, I saw virtually the same painting being done elsewhere for almost 3x's the cost. Who knows, maybe you will find a hidden talent... or just have some fun doing something different!

The biggest issue was the lack of real instruction. The hosts mainly pointed us to written directions and spent more energy upselling their extra products than actually guiding the class. For something marketed as a workshop, I expected more hands-on teaching. The Turkish delight and tea were a nice touch, very good, in fact, but they didn't arrive until nearly the end of the session, which felt oddly timed. On top of that, the project itself is more than you can realistically finish in the allotted time, so you end up taking it home to complete. I'm glad I did it once because I got to share the experience with friends, but next time we'll probably just buy the supplies and figure it out ourselves. Three stars for the fun company, tasty treats, and the idea, but with more instruction and less sales pitch, it could have been so much better
