I'm a groupon junkie... I admit it. A groupon for Paint-A-holics showed up in my recommendations for a group of 4 to paint. It looked like fun, and I have never done it before. So I thought I would get a few of my girlfriends to go with me and have a fun night of wine and painting! This whole process was very smooth. From the user friendly website to chose what and where you want to paint, and reserving your date. I even got a reminder email with detailed instructions for my painting night. The image I chose for girls night was Moonlight at the San Pasqual Wine tasting room in La Mesa. The San Pasqual tasting room was located in a very cute and walkable area in La Mesa. There was plenty of street parking, and I didn't have any problems finding the location or parking. It is a 3 hour event, so depending on the location, availability of food varies. The winery offered cheese platters and a variety of wines. Since they didn't have food, we were allowed to bring in food from neighboring restaurants. I chose a glass of their sangria for my drink of choice. I absolutely loved it. It was the perfect blend of wine and citrus. The whole experience was awesome and I had so much fun! I love my painting and I already have it on my wall! I'm planning another one with the girls already! Jason is a really good teacher! He's patient, funny, and talented in addition to being able to survive a room of primarily women drinking and painting! I completely recommend Paint-A-holics for a girls night or a date night! read more

Jason was a very easy going instructor who did not rush anyone even though we had a few stragglers in our class. The class was at TGI Friday's so we were able to order food and drinks as we painted. The portrait was fairly simple and only required three different kinds of paint colors: blue, white, black. But the end product was o so perfect, which displayed a bright moonlight with sillohueted lovebirds and a bird's nest sitting atop tree branches. His instructions were easy to follow and he made sure to go around and check everyone's work. He let people work at their own pace but making sure to keep the class on track to finish on time. My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed this class and now we have a souvenir to place on our walls to remind us of this Date. Would definitely sign up for more classes! read more

My daughter, age 8 and I attended a class together on Mother's Day! It was a very small intimate class all women and moms. Jason, the instructor, was very nice and did a great job guiding us through all the steps and helping anyone who needed it along the way. I highly recommend his classes! Painting with Jason is great experience. He is a wonderful and talented instructor! I am a total beginner, never used acrylics. Jason guided us through each step. He demonstrated art methods and gave clear directions. I always wanted to know how to paint clouds and now I can. I also discovered that working with paint colors on canvas is soothing to the deeper psyche. It's also a very social activity. Sometimes we were quiet while painting and other times we were talkative. I expected to have a good learning experience and reuse the canvas in the future. Surprise!!! Purchased a groupon and made a reservation for a paint class for my parents and i. My parents got sick so i contacted paint a holics to see if we can reschedule when they are better. Jason emailed back that would be fine and he sent over a new coupon code to use when were ready. Well after waiting for some new paintings to come out in my area of san diego i finally go to use the code and its expired. I contact Jason and he said my groupon expired awhile ago and that he cannot honor it as if he forgot that i did use the groupon before the expiration but my parents were ill. He acted as if he didn't remember after i resent him his emails stating he would honor the rebooking of a new class and there was NO expiration date on this code. Then because he realized his mistake he said he will honor another paint class as long as i book from the october calendar. I told him which class i wanted to reserve and asked if he can help me reserve it and he said the new code he made already expired...again!!! are you kidding me?? lol. Jason then says he will still honor it as long as i pay an extra $80!!! You are really going to charge me more money after promising we can rebook another class due to my parents being ill?? Ridiculous! Completely trying to take advantage of the situation by asking for more money VS being an honest person that honors their word. I signed up for the "Tropical Waterfall" Paint-A-Holics class with Jason via their Facebook free promo deal. Jason & his wife provided blank canvases, smocks, paint, and paintbrushes - all of which were in brand new condition which made the experience more enjoyable. The one area that I felt could be improved would be the actual direction on how to paint the painting. Although it was explained step by step, oftentimes the direction was a little vague and it could be hard to follow along. Since everyone is painting at a different speed, it was possible that you could get lost if you missed the previous step or the color direction. To his credit, Jason was really great in repeating his directions and coming over to show you what the paint strokes should look like. Overall, I thought this was a fun activity for an evening and definitely oriented for the detail- and creative-minded folks. read more

I went to San Pasqual Winery with a friend of mine for the monarch butterfly class. It was a bit of a drive for me but worth it. I thought Jason did a great job and added a bit of humor which is always a plus. He did include all of the supplies including a smock. Jason was awesome!! My mommy group hired him to help with a Halloween painting activity for 11 girls and boys ages 6-10. They were an active group and he kept them organized and on task. Jason is a great instructor. Not only does he walk you through each step, but he gives you instructions on how to use your brush properly, tips to mixing the colors and even brings around a sample color to show you when mixing a difficult color.
