I am livid! My husband and i ordered to go, he got a curry and i got a shrimp avocado salad. The curry was fine, tasted too much like fish sauce but whatever. I was not hungry so I ordered a salad, but I ended up waiting till I was actually hungry to eat it... which was 2am, and I opened my salad expecting to have a dinner at a time nothing is open, only to be disappointed to find my "shrimp avocado" salad had TWO shrimp pieces and no avocado at all!! The picture I am posting is just after opening it, setting aside the shrimp and adding some dressing. What the heck is this!!! I am so angry!!! I love this place. I have a friend that recently moved to Olmos Park, we both wanted Thai, it was the closest place, went there just to try it out. Can't stop going. It's a strip-mall place, but you wouldn't know it when you walk in. The ambience is perfect here. Sometimes we now order to-go, and while convenient I do miss sitting down here. Great atmosphere and attentive service. I wish I could start branching out, but the red curry is just too good. I get "Thai hot", mix up the meat/seafood choice, and while I can handle hotter than what they give me, it's a good level of heat. Someday I'm gonna say "make it as hot as your cook would eat" just to get that endorphin rush and literal sweats, but just saying "Thai hot" will give you a great mix of flavor and heat if you like spicy food. My friend also can't branch out and swears by their duck dishes. This place has earned their fifth star with consistently great food and service. Very highly recommended. read more

YaYa's used to be better. I have been going here for years with coworkers for lunch and it continues to go downhill. The portions get smaller, and the prices continue to go up. While the service is always pleasant, there is usually only one waiter for the entire restaurant. Because this waiter is always overworked, they are also running behind and it can take 15 - 20 minutes to get drinks or the lunch soup. I'm so happy I tried this spot. It was absolutely delicious. We had the Panang Curry with tofu and the Thai Noodle Green Curry with tofu. Both were ordered medium spicey. Usually medium is spicier than what we got, but some thai chill paste was provided for an extra boost. I need to take this moment to talk about fresh flavor. As in freshy fresh. I was overwhelmed with every bite. Each veggie was crisp and fresh. Plus I've never had this many vegetable options in any dish. The green beans snapped, the peas popped, the cabbage was crisp the curry was rich with flavor. There was cilantro toppings and other additions that you'll note too. Even the rice noodles were divine. I love Thai food and I've been trying to get to as many as I could to try, but it will be almost impossible now to try a new spot. This may be it for me. I'm already thinking about my next visit. If you enjoy tofu you'll be impressed with the texture and amount. If you eat meat I'm sure it will absorb the curry and be just as flavorful. I went during the week and it was dead. There was one other lady in the restaurant, it was kind of nice, the quietness. I ordered an appetizer of the cheese rolls. I don't know why I was surprised when they came to my table, but they are literally cheese rolls or in this case egg rolls with gooey cheese. They were great! An order comes with 5 of them. Shortly after my Tom Kha soup came (I thought I took a picture but I guess it didn't save) it was great as well. I ordered my with tofu since I'm a vegetarian and the broth is a vegetable broth so it's definitely real vegetarian. The dish also comes with a side of white rice. I really enjoyed the flavor and mushroom bites which gave extra protein. The restaurant is big and has a nice atmosphere. The service was great as well. I enjoyed my time. read more

They have some great Pad Thai and go by levels 1 to 5 in regards to how spicy you want your food. Additionally, their Drunken Noodles are absolutely amazing and are basically the reason my girlfriend continues to come here. In the end, expect a decent meal. Not bad. Our first time here. Of course my sister says she likes any of the pad Thai and three best friends (sounds like Triple Delight), so we get drunken noodles with pork and Queen of Duck. Now the duck came with your choice of curry and a side of white rice. I went with hassaman (this is probably misspelled). Not hot at all: coconut, onions and potatoes. Slightly sweet, actually. Maybe not the best choice for meat, but good none the less. We had the dumplings as an appetizer. I really liked them. Very flavorful, but a little small. Why are appetizers served in odd quantities? The location is not the best but the environment is decent. A little understaffed even at 2pm on Sunday, not very busy time. I only ordered the YaYa's fried rice since it has the restaurant's name on it. It is delicious except for the part that the beef is overcooked. More like a precooked beef then Mixed in the rice, quite dry. The chicken is dry as in all other Thai fried rice I've had tried. So not a complaint. In general the flavor is balanced, more tomato chops would be better. I believe if the beef or chicken is the entree it would be better. The food can be hit or miss depending on the time of day you order, but my normal lunch orders of pad Thai have always been spot on. However, when I have come at an odd hour on Wednesday around 4pm (don't ask, I had a craving), the food came quite sodium-enhanced. Completely fine, don't get me wrong, I love my salt. However, I did find myself gulping glasses of water a few times over. If you order ahead to pickup, Yaya's is a dream. You breeze through the doors, select your order from the cashier, and simply head out if you pay ahead. I've never experienced any lines at this location, and the service is always brilliant ---efficient, kind, and effective. The food is your Thai-American standard. My colleagues highly recommend the curries for the first time diner. As someone who prefers noodles, I can say in all honesty they will fill you up properly and leave you satisfied.
