Yass Endodontics is the BEST! there's a gigantic portion of the bill that Delta won't touch they can only fix about half of what I need done today due back tomorrow. More pain for definite impending financial crisis.But Not At Yass Endodontics. At Yass they made sure that Delta would pay 90-100% then started working. And they got after it- fixed more than what they guaranteed originally. They fixed what was going to require a separate day (off from work) to complete. I was referred here at the beginning of the month as i had been experiencing excruciating tooth pain and it had been determined that i needed a root canal due to a poorly filled cavity by my dentist. Despite there being issues finding my insurance and getting a hold of an actual person to ask the appropriate questions about my coverage/waiting periods etc., the staff was extremely patient, helpful, and understanding. Stacey at the front desk was very accommodating as well as Dr. Yassi. They were eventually able to sort things out with my insurance and after the first half of my root canal procedure, the pain was gone instantly. It was such a huge relief to not feel any more pain! I just finished the second half of my root canal (a few weeks later) and i'm very pleased with my overall experience here. Although i live in san mateo county, i drove all the way to lafayette for this procedure knowing that i was getting excellent service! I went to Dr Dastmalchi two years ago for a root canal. After the procedure, I still felt discomfort and hot/cold sensitivity and went to her with this complaint. Her suggestion was to order a mouth guard from my dentist and also to do ozone therapy. Adding more costs to my dental expenses. Neither of these things worked. A year later I still had the same complaints so she took images and identified that there was in fact an area of concern. She offered a retreatment but did say that she would worry the same outcome would occur so she suggested we do an Apicoectomy (root end surgery). This option seemed extreme and of course very costly. The conversation didn't sit well with me so I sought a second opinion. I requested the images, of which she charged me for. Well I am so grateful I did because a new Endodontist performed a retreatment this week and found that Dr Dastmalchi not only missed one of my canals (therefore for two years I've been dealing with an incomplete root canal!) but there was also an infection forming at the end of another root due to not properly cleaning/filling it. I hope that this does not happen to another person. For two years I dealt with discomfort and anxiety over this tooth. I hope that in the future Dr Dastmalchi is more thorough and if a patient has complaints she does her due diligence. read more

I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Dastmalchi and her office. I was travelling and needed an Endodontist quickly. They kindly rearranged their schedule so that they could fit me in as I had less than a three- week window and was in pain and with swelling. She was true to her website's name-and was very gentle as she worked. she is the only dentist I have been to that applied a topical anesthetic to the gum before injecting the local anesthetic. made a big difference. I would choose to return to her for a future root canal if possible. read more

First she failed root canal from the first attempt. Same story with the assistant. She was discussing something during the root canal and then just left asking her assistant to check. On the X-Ray it was clearly seen that the root canal wasn't done properly I got the second opinion and I wrote an email with my complains. During the second appointment she said smth like "We don't usually do that". Well, I thought at least you fixed it at no charge. I didn't realize at that time that these are all red flags. I had 2 years follow up and there were some changes near one of the roots. She referred me to CT and after CT said "Yeah it's definitely smth goes on. I recommend a root canal." When I asked for the reason she could barely explain it "may be it's crack or saliva goes in". When I asked will I need a new crown she said: "Yes", when I said I'm not ready she said "I can go through, but the crown can crack". I was prepared for that so went for the second opinion. Another doctor explained that there is nothing serious there, this could happen because of the braces I'm having and it's with normal limit so we need to just check it every six months. No root canal needed now. Well, make your own choice, but I personally DO NOT RECOMMEND this doctor! read more

I was so very fortunate to have Dr Yass perform a complicated dental procedure onto an abscess and damaged tooth. She was kind, communicative, knowledgeable, considerate, and understanding toward my needs. I was shook-up at the thought of going through my 1st root-canal experience. I was referred to Dr. Dastmalchi by my dentist for a root canal. At my evaluation with her, Dr. Dastmalchi did a thorough check to ensure that a root canal was what I really needed and explained what was going on in such an understandable way. I'd never had any dentist explain a procedure so well to me. The procedure itself went as well as could be expected, and when I had an unexpected reaction to the root canal, the doctor was in constant contact with me to get me what I needed and to make sure I was ok. She showed a level of caring and understanding that truly went above and beyond. Rhonda, who works the front desk (amongst other things) was extremely helpful in helping me understand my insurance benefits and my out of pocket cost, and offered Care Credit if needed. She was on top of everything and definitely knows her stuff. I would absolutely recommend this office to anyone in need of endodontic care. You really can't do better than them! read more

Sooooo appreciative for this office! Having an abcessed tooth is not fun. Having an abcessed tooth and no ability to see the endodontist my dentist recommended was even more nerve wracking. Then I walked into Dr. Dastmalchi's office. Knowing I was in pain, they made it possible for me to be seen same day...relief from my pain was immediate after my procedure. To be honest, I'm GLAD the other endodontist wasn't available because I was able to meet Dr. Dastmalchi. Her injections were painless (even though she kept apologizing that the injection on the roof of my mouth would be painful). The procedure took a shorter time than anticipated and there was minimal to NO discomfort, during and after the procedure. No lie. Assuming her prices would be higher because of her location in Lafayette, I prepared for the worst. Was I wrong. Since I was paying out of pocket for the procedure, I had called around to find out the average price of a root canal. She was definitely within range! Her prices were very reasonable. And last but not least, her staff was great! If I EVER need an endodontist, I know who I'll be calling. HIGHLY recommend! read more

I was referred to Dr. Dstmalchi, by Dr. Kevin Ko, so I was pretty sure that she would be good (he only referrs to specialists that get good reviews, from his patients), but I had no idea how good. (Seriously, I didn't think it was possible to find one dentist, that would be pleasant to go to, let alone two!) If you MUST get a root canal, Dr. Dastmalchi should be the person that does it. She is pleasant, funny, easy to work with, and extremely knowledgable. I swear, she LOVES her job. If you had told me that it could actually be fun, to get a root canal, I would have said you were crazy. Dr. Dastmalchi proved how wrong I was. Competent. Caring. Communicative. Like most people, I do not excitedly and positively long for a root canal. But, if I need to have one, I sure do appreciate when it's a super positive experience. From procedure to billing, they let me know what they would do, were in the process of doing, why, and what to expect - all of which made a world of difference. I went to Dr. Dastmalchi regarding a tooth that needed a root canal but the dentist hadn't detect that and had already put a new crown on the tooth. I was extremely nervous about the process and also worried that I had to put another crown again. Dr. Dastmalchi was very kind and put me at ease. She gently did such a wonderful job on my tooth and finished the root canal without damaging or cracking the crown. I was so happy with her treatment that I referred her to a few friends and they were also very pleased with her honesty and work ethics. If you don't need a root canal, she will tell you sincerely and won't waste your money (and time). My awesome dentist, Dr. Ko, referred me to Dr. Yass and I'm so glad to have met her and her wonderful staff. I was very worried I'd end up losing my tooth because I knew my S curve root would make the procedure difficult. She saved my tooth!! The shots of Novocain were virtually painless and I was pretty relaxed throughout the long process. She and her assistant were great about explaining everything and showed a lot of care about how I was feeling physically and emotionally. I haven't personally went to Dr. Dastmalchi but she really helped me when I needed advice for my son who had an abscessed tooth and it was the weekend when no other dentist were open or would call me back. She called me and gave me plenty of good advice to ease his pain and offered an early morning appointment. She really went out of her way and I am so thankful for her selfless act of kindness. read more

*Caution, do NOT go to this endodontist for a root canal!!* In 2003 I was referred to her by my general dentist. She worked on me when she wasn't quite over a cold and should've stayed home. The numbing process was very painful, having multiple shots in the roof of my mouth and gums. She then messed up the root canal during the irrigation of the root process (in which 5% bleach solution is used). She put too much pressure on the syringe and the bleach went through my root into my sinus cavity. It caused almost instant burning in my face. When I mentioned my discomfort she kept working for about 15 more minutes before she stopped when I complained again. She had caused a "sodium hypochlorite accident". The results were almost instant bruising and internal bleeding in my sinus. Half of my face swelled up and a hematoma was created in the inside of my face. I had bruising in my mouth, cheeks, lips, a black eye for weeks and severe pain and discomfort. I went to the doctors right away and visited the ER a couple of times afterwards and they had no idea how to treat the injury. I could only wait for the swelling to go down. I had to deal with the embarrassment of walking around with a black eye (the ER doctors thought I'd been abused I looked so bad). I could not sleep on that side of my face for almost a year or hold my head face down because the pressure was unbearable. I had slight neuralgia that caused constant nerve pain. I haven't seen a dentist much in 10 years because I still have anxiety from that experience, and my dental health has suffered greatly for it. I still have scar tissue in my face. It aches at times and smoke and strong scents will hurt my face. She caused permanent damage in my sinus. When I came back to her office afterward, I found out from her receptionist that she had done this to someone else before me. It was never disclosed as a possible risk of the procedure, even though clearly she knew it was. This is usually a rare accident to occur, and there are non-bleach irrigation alternatives that can be used. *She should NOT be practicing endodontics.* read more

I had a similar experience to SA - from the front desk on. I spent a good deal of the time (6-7 hours total) in tears because it was such an unsettling experience. After listing the drugs I take, I was told that was too many for someone my age - that with no understanding of my underlying health issues. I went in relatively comfortable with dental procedures and left after what turned out to be multiple visits feeling fairly traumatized. It has taken me a few years to write this review because I thought time might soften my impression of the experience. It hasn't and I really feel it's important to get this experience out there. I am sure she is a skilled oral surgeon but my interactions with her were very bad. read more

After visiting my general dentist, I was told I had an abscess on a 35 year old root canal and was referred to Dr Dastmalchi. Having had lots of dental work over the past 60 years I can claim to know my dentists and procedures. But even with all those experiences I still anxious of what might happen next. To my surprise, the experience in Dr. Dastmalchi's office was nothing short of wonderful. The consultation was quick, on-time and very matter of fact on the process. The appointment was scheduled within 48 hours and the procedure was painless, on time and with no complications. She fully explained the process as she was working plus carried on a personal conversation to help divert any thoughts of what was actually occurring on the tooth. Her office was filled with enthuisiasm and the dialog between her dental assistant and the Dr was very entertaining! I would HIGHLY recommend Dr Dastmalchi to anyone that needs a root canal. She is a professional, understands her patients needs and is very comfortable to work with during such procedures. I don't usually review but felt compelled today after having a great experience at Dr Dastmachi's practice. I had a referral from my new dentist and was seen the next day. Dr D. discussed treatment options with me and I felt fully versed in the choices available, pro's, con's and percentage of success and she even called me after checking on my insurance details to let me know the 90% coverage I assumed, may only be 80%. The camaraderie shared with her assistant (Shauna) was infectious and truly the atmosphere was more like lunch with the girls than a procedure that had me feeling quite emotional the day before. That's not to say it wasn't professional, because it was but it was a warm and caring experience. They had me at ease, checked on how I was doing often and completed the procedure in less than 2 hours. I went home expecting to need some pain relief but to be honest 5 hours later and I still have not needed even an Advil. I have another root canal to address in the future and will definitely return to Dr Dastmalchi and her team. I am so grateful for the referral and for the treatment I received. read more

I am very pleased with Dr. Dastmalchi. She did a difficult root canal on me last month. She was very sensitive toward me and made the procedure as painless as possible. She is a real professional. Honestly, no one likes the dentist...let alone an endodontist, and what that means! But, after fearing (for as long as I can remember) the notion of having to get a root canal, and having that come true (and an emergency RC at that), I was so very happy I was referred to Dr. Dastmalchi. I think I might've been one for the "challenging" column (!!!), but she always tried to make me feel at ease, my comfort was #1, and she was so very thorough. And, it was obvious that comfort was #1 with everyone in the office, from Rhonda to Ihaly who are such a great part of her team. I have had three root canal re-treatments done at Dr. Dastmalchi's office, which unfortunately speaks poorly of the status of my dental health; but that's a separate matter. I have been going to her office periodically for the last three years. I find Dr. Dastmalchi's office welcoming, her staff extremely friendly, and at the same time knowledgeable and professional. Dental procedures are never pleasant, but it seems to me that she attempts to distract her patients mind with comments about different topics--and that works. I have done many dental procedures by different specialists. What strikes me is Dr. Dastmalchi's sensitivity to her patient's comfort and her efforts to minimize pain. Her findings, recommendations, and opinions have always been right on and corroborated by my general dentist. It should be comforting to know that you are in good and knowledgeable hands, when it comes to your dental well-being. I have never had real trouble with my teeth until recently when I began having trouble with a tooth that had been refilled with composite (replaced the mercury..yuck!). That filling was precariously close to the nerve and my dentist warned me it may result in a root canal. Over the last month we monitored it very closely but when I was in excruciating pain (learned it was from the dying tooth!) my dentist sent me to see Dr. Dastmalchi. The initial visit last week was great - she was very through in testing my mouth to really be sure that the root canal was needed. After an hour of tests the conclusion was as expected and the appointment was made. I was admittedly very nervous going in today, not really sure what it would be like. So many people have different stories about how a root canal is going to be. Well, I can confidently say...it wasn't too bad! I had my earphones in and my eyes closed during the ~1.5 hr procedure. All the ladies in the office are fabulous! They made me feel comfortable and well prepared for what I was going to sit through. Very gentle (as gentle as can be with a root canal!) and overall a good experience. I would recommend anyone needing oral surgery to see Dr Dashmalchi! read more

A few years ago, I found out that I had a tooth infection and after meeting with two root canal specialists, I was told that the infection had reached deep in the root and the tooth has to be extracted. My wife had good experience with Dr. Dastmalchi and asked me to consult with her too. Dr.Dastmalchi was able to save my tooth and after a few years still have no problem with that tooth. Since then, Dr. Dastmalchi has done one more root canal on another tooth with great result. read more

I was referred to Dr. Yass by my primary dentist, Dr. Omid Fard, so I assumed she would be excellent. I wasn't in pain, but a head CT scan showed that I definitely had a cyst or mass in my upper jaw that was causing me to feel queasy and drained of energy despite a course of anti-biotics. I am always anxious about dental surgery, so Dr. Yass booked me for an appointment 2 days before the procedure so she could go over the process and provide me with prescriptions to help me be more relaxed before the surgery. It worked out well. I had no post-operative pain. I found her staff to be caring, friendly, and attentive. Would absolutely consult her again should the need arise. read more

I was referred to Dr. Dastmalchi for a root canal by my amazing general dentist. I figured that if my dentist referred me to Dr. Dastmalchi then she had to great, but boy was I wrong. To begin with her front office manager, Rhonda, is absolutely the rudest most unprofessional individual I have ever interacted with. She is extremely impolite and she had the audacity to verify my insurance benefits on SPEAKER PHONE in the office in front of other staff and patients... Hello have you ever heard of HIPAA??? The root canal process was equally as unprofessional. Dr. Dastmalchi was more preoccupied with discussing the most recent episode of American Idol then paying attention to my mouth numbing process. She didn't even test to see if I was numb or anything she just starting drilling on my tooth and I had to scream bloody murder for her to stop and add more Novocaine. Since she failed to numb me properly the first time I had to endure an immensely painful shot of Novocaine directly in the center of my tooth. After she finished the root canal she just walked away and had her assistant put my temporary crown in... Ummm if I am going to pay thousands of dollars for my treatment then I think Dr. Dastmalchi should be doing my temporary crown, not her assistant. Her assistant rapidly put in my temporary crown but when Dr. Datmalchi inspected it she saw that her assistant messed it up and she didn't even apologize she just simply said that it was only a temporary crown so proper fitting wasn't necessary since my regular dentist would be putting my permanent crown on in a few weeks. When I got home later that day I saw that she actually CHIPPED my tooth when working on it. Now I have a cavity in there due to her sloppy work. NEVER EVER go to Dr. Dastmalchi for any type of dental work, I wouldn't wish her sub-par work on my worst enemy. read more

I had to have an emergency root canal in June 2014,and my Dentist sent me to Dr. Dastmalchi. Dr. Yass Dastmalchi and her staff made the process painless and as pleasant as a root canal can be. The office manager gave me clear quotes with the allowances from my insurance and clearly laid out the costs and procedure I should expect. The manager was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about my coverage though this was my first visit. Though my root canal was last minute, they were able to fit me in and complete my procedure in time to pick up my kids from school. Dr. Dastmalchi let me know in advance that there was a possibility that my tooth could not be saved, and let me know throughout the process what was going on. In the end she was able to save the tooth and get me out of the office in time to pick up my kids and pricing was according to the pre-procedure quote. The next day the doctor called me to follow up on my procedure to ensure that I was doing well. I have had no problems since, will definitely return if I find I need another root canal and have recommended her to my friends.
