Not for me. Moved to Walnut Creek and came to see Dr. Nisenboym. First cleaning was fine, the 2nd I told the hygienist that a tooth was bothering me. Dr. Nisenboym looked at it and said it's chipped and there isn't a cavity and to basically just leave it. I walked out and the receptionist is like "Oh this is your 3rd exam this year, we will send you a statement." I was confused, the Dr. literally stopped by for 3 minutes to look at that one tooth. I asked her to clarify and she told me "We will bill you if anything." Why not clarify on the spot? Two days later my tooth, the one that was bothering me, started hurting very badly. At that point I was on vacation driving to Canada. After calling 10 dentists, no one was available for an emergency visit so I texted Dr. Nisenboym letting him know what was going on and he responded 4 hours later telling me to find an endodontist... I was unclear why I would need an endodontist so asked him to clarify and he said they could most likely get me in or give me medication. That was it. No direction, no advice. Questionable billing to MetLife Dental PPO and charge to patient. Well, I just realized this. Just one month after a bad car accident that left me with a broken wrist, I tripped and chipped and cracked my front tooth. I checked on yelp for Endodontist and David came up. So, I call and explain that I need an appointment for an endodontist because I've possibly cracked my tooth. They told me kindly that I could come in. Well guess what? He's a general dentist and can't do anything about my cracked tooth. He took Xrays (which could've been covered fully by my insurance as part of preventative care) but charged my insurance for "Resin-one surface, anterior" $200 and my portion was $80!! Obviously, given my distressed situation I wasn't checking the bills because they were so outwardly nice that I just didn't think to. All he did was look at my X-ray for a few min and my tooth and told me it may or may not fall out. I went to see an actual endodontist in Walnut Creek and that specialty dentist said "you paid to see a generalist? Why didn't he just refer you to an endodontist instead?" The endodontist then filed my tooth and put my tooth in a brace and now my tooth is perfectly fine. But guess what? I'm now actually ready for the "Resin-one surface" on my healed tooth and MetLife tells me my annual plan benefit max was affected because of David. As someone who works for a large healthcare organization, this office billing practice is questionable. How are you going to bill $200 to insurance and $80 to a patient for a 10 min visit where you did nothing but take X-rays (which would've been covered as part of prevention)? You also could've told me over the phone that you're NOT a dental specialist and that I'd be better off scheduling with an endodontist (stop associating yourself as such on Yelp). Unbelievable. How dare you? Edit: every since writing my honest real review (the purpose of yelp), I get a message from the business, then a response to my review, and just again another message from a random person associated with the business to take down my fake review. What is going on? If someone writes a thoughtful review my default would be to perform a soft audit, not to harass a former patient. Attached is a photo of my bill and no I will not contact you because I'm moving on and I simply realized the problem and wanted to write a review. What's wrong with me doing that? I love my new smile! Here's how it went down. I came to dr. David for a 2nd opinion regarding veneers. I decided to go with him because he explained the process so thoroughly and I enjoyed seeing the examples of other patients that he had done veneers on. The process started with a bunch of scans, photos and measurements. Then at the next appointment we did a "mock-up" where he put something in my mouth so I could see what the veneers would eventually look like so no drilling yet but I loved what I saw! Then I came in for another appointment and we did the drilling and I wore a temporary for a couple of weeks - it didn't come off but I had to be careful with eating. Finally the day came and he put the veneers in. He made sure they all fit and that I liked how they look which I really appreciated. I had really stained teeth from antibiotics when I was younger so I wasn't very confident when I smiled and talked to people. The difference is huge and I feel so much more confident and even excited when I talk to people. Im loving my new natural smile! read more

The short version is that Dr. Nisemboym is THE BEST general dentist who has worked on my teeth. He's a total pro and, sadly* to say, I've given him plenty of opportunities to ply his trade: Crowns, fillings, and a pre-root canal examination. *I inherited really bad teeth from my parents. My previous dentists, while capable, were extremely conservative and always looking to save me a buck or two. This turned out to be a horrible approach since I ended up with significant bone loss and molars that were barely capable of supporting a crown. Crowns that popped off due to leakage at the margins were simply glued back on resulting in further decay and infection. One of the first procedures that David performed was a front molar filling replacement. When I told him that I was not fond of my previous dentist's practice of numbing my face from my nose to my ear, he told me that he had investigated going through a hole the jaw to a nerve that seemed to provide the optimum numbing without disabling my entire face for hours. Worked perfectly. Another "oh shit" moment came after a routine x-ray. David said "Do you see this area? That's infection. This tooth should have had a root canal because you're losing bone. You also need a new crown on that tooth." I went to Mark D. Stevenson, DDS (a fabulous endodontist) for the root canal. During our pre-operative discussion I told him "Dr. Nisenboym says that this tooth is bad -AND- that it needs a replacement crown." Mark said that the advise of my PREVIOUS dentist was so poor that had I waited another year I might have needed bone grafts. And the crown? Absolutely must be replaced. SIDEBAR: You need a root canal? Contact Dr. Mark Stevenson. This guy is simply amazing. Final procedure (which took place yesterday): Crown replacement. Almost all of my previous crowns were gold. These wear down after 8-10 years and result in decay under the crown that only becomes apparent when the glue weakens enough to make the crown pop off. David examined the crown and the stub, showed me the decay and then went to work. Because he has an in-office crown mill, the whole procedure took 2 hours (meaning no return visit). And because he's an expert at injecting just the right amount of painkiller, I wasn't numb the entire evening. Words cannot express my appreciation for the doctor and his staff. read more
