I was a patient of Dr. Bottene for many years and have generally had positive experiences with the practice. The office staff over the years have consistently been kind, diligent, and professional. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was extremely disappointing. Since the office transition, there is a new dental hygienist, and the quality of care I received was not what I have come to expect. The cleaning felt rushed and incomplete, and I left feeling that my teeth had not been properly cleaned. What concerned me most was that the hygienist informed the dentist that my teeth were sensitive, which was not an accurate description of what had occurred during the appointment. When I attempted to explain the situation, I felt dismissed and had difficulty being heard. As a result, much of my exam focused on clarifying the misunderstanding rather than discussing my dental health, any areas of concern, or preventive care. I left feeling unheard, with unresolved concerns, and without confidence that I had received a thorough cleaning or examination. In my 57 years, I've only had three dentists. For the past 12 years, I've been a very happy patient of Dr. Adriano Bottene, along with his outstanding hygienists and entire office staff. I absolutely love this practice! Dr. Bottene is thorough and conservative in his approach--he only recommends treatment when it's truly necessary. When I first came to him, I had a mouth full of crowns from my previous dentist after just 12 years there. Due to my special medical needs (including lupus) and related tooth structure loss--possibly from pregnancy, health factors, or both--dentistry has always been challenging for me. Dr. Bottene is personable, gentle, and a straight shooter. Whenever he can preserve natural tooth structure, he does. In "wait-and-see" situations, we monitor things, and many times the issue has resolved on its own. I trust his judgment completely. The front desk staff are efficient, courteous, and friendly--no drama or gossip ever overheard. The office has a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. They send helpful text reminders for upcoming appointments and call if needed. In over 11 years as a patient, they've never once had to reschedule or cancel an appointment. That's truly exceptional! The hygienists are superior in my experience--kind, gentle, and incredibly thorough. I've worked with several over the years, only switching when one retired, moved, or joined another practice. I never once felt the need to request a change. My family members also see Dr. Bottene as their dentist too. I just had my teeth cleaned by a professional in every way. My dentist for the past 8+ years was just looking at my teeth, then brushing them and flossing them. I was amazed to have a real cleaning after all these years! What a beautiful difference! stains and plaque gone and she explained things throughly. Reception was welcoming and so patient helping me to fill out all paperwork ahead of my visit. Dr. Bottene was thorough with my exam and his assistant as well. They have state of the art equipment, including a full mouth X-ray. I felt my dental experience was upgraded 20 years. Dr. Bottene did an examination that included digital x-rays and a wand-like camera that shows pictures of the backs of teeth. Even has a TV set that you could watch while he is working on you. My previous dentist had wanted a lot of work done in my mouth, but they did not have digital x-rays. Dr. Bottene discovered that only one tooth needed a crown, and the process was painless. I recently moved to East Bay and get anxiety when it comes to finding new doctors. I was lucky enough to have found Dr. Bottene's office with an early time slot to get my annual cleaning out of the way. There's ample parking right in front of their building (Building H). The front desk receptionist was so warm and welcoming when I first walked in, and my hygienist, I believe her name was Andrea?... (I'm sorry, I have the memory of a fish), called me in to start my appointment. The exam rooms were clean, bright, and they had my favorite channel on (Food Network). Let me tell ya'll about my hygienist. She is the best hygienist I have ever had. I have been to a lot of dentists, but she surpasses them all. Her x-rays were fast, simple and painless. I told her about my concerns and she addressed them all then spent extra time explaining everything to me. Her cleaning is painless, efficient, and she moves with such intention. I've never met someone so calm, cool, and collected while doing their craft. I did not get any sense she was zipping through the appointment or just telling me what I wanted to hear. When she asked me a question, she would pull the tools out of my mouth and gave me time to answer, unlike some offices where I'm mumbling between their tools. Man, I'm just so happy to have found this office. Now onto Dr. Bottene. He was thorough in his exam, gave me insight on my teeth, and suggestions on my teeth grinding. We had a moment to have casual chatter and it was so nice. I'm so used to dentists coming in, glancing over my teeth, complimenting them, then running out the room.
