My friend treated me to take out dinner from Yasou Mikonos today. I was excited to get some Greek food. I ordered the lamb souvlaki platter. It came with a soup, a lemon chicken soup, which was really delicious. Kudos to that. However, the lamb platter in a paper carton --not really the issue --was about 10 small pieces of dried tasteless lamb, a little container of tzatziki sauce and a portion of pita bread Frankly for $20 that was really overpriced and not tasty and really not worth it. So disappointing. I know this is a popular restaurant. Maybe we just ordered the wrong thing but the lamb platter was very substandard especially for the price. read more

I'm not sure if this place sold or it was an off night or bc it was later in the evening but this was bad. Just all around not good. Chicken souvlaki pita....is a dry hard pita with some very over cooked chewy chicken, tomatoes of all different shapes from slices to fine dice to huge chunks and a similar presentation of red onions....and 5 soggy French fries. The chicken tastes like the gas from the grill not a nice char flavor. The tzatziki I'm glad I ordered an extra side of because there's none on the sandwich? And it's a weird tzatziki anyway again nothing is cut well big chunks of dill and bland. The Greek salad was fine, one olive in a regular side salad and 4 chunks of real sad tomatoes. Dressing was good and the capers were a nice touch but literally nothing is cut the same or even remotely same ingredients even it gives a weird thought that this was end of the night odds and ends. The chocolate Greek yogurt is still good but the cherry topping or any sort of fruit topping made it much better especially for the price. Now the really bad part....my husband got us a piece of spanikopita to share.....and when I bit it the flavor was great....except for the several bristles of pastry brush or some sort of hair that's plastic/synthetic that were in my mouth.... Great food and service. Employees care about the customers wants and give perfect recommendations for first timers (which we were). We were so thankful that they were open on Christmas as not many businesses are. The inside of the restaurant feels like you're being transported to Greece. I lost this review several times because I was traveling and I'm going to find out if I still have the pictures to show how bad this place was - I kept the stuff in the fridge waiting to bring it back - because my first time there was like 30 bucks just for takeout - ugh! The only reason I gave it two stars was basically because I had to - and the eggplant appetizer was awesome... The Pastitsio was friggen horrible. It tasted like someone cooked Play-Doh and smeared cat food in between rubbery pieces of pasta. I tried to leave a message for the business owner and also via Yelp - but never got a reply. This was like 3 1/2 weeks ago while I was traveling and now sitting at a rest, stop and decided to write about it. We ordered for delivery tonight. We were shocked with the small amount of food that we received. The prices they charge are unacceptable for the portions of food they give you. Also the food was not that good. The kids chicken pieces were overcooked and dry, and so was their grilled chicken, their pita bread was dry and the rice had no taste. They had another location in New Milford which we found out today is closed permanently so we decided to try this location. We were disappointed and wonder if maybe that is the reason the New Milford store closed. You think you would get more food and better tasting for what you are paying. read more

Everything about this place is great. Had a really nice lunch sitting at Demarest park located next to this sit down restaurant since it was such a beautiful day outside. We got the gyro platter along with a Greek salad and shared it and had baklava for desert! I will definitely be coming back. The owner was so hospitable and gave us many treats to go! We decided to order take out tonight because didn't have time to cook. I ordered via phone, order was ready for pickup in 20 minutes. They took my credit card via phone easily. When I arrived about 22-25 minutes ready my order came right out. This is the 1st time I've ordered take out since I've been in quarantine. It all happened so quickly that I didn't have a tip for the gentleman that came out to my car. I wasn't prepared, didn't plan correctly and honestly felt horrible afterwards :( Thank you for delivering to my car and for having our dinner prepared so quickly and deliciously. Wanted to try this place for a while so I ordered delivery last night with my boyfriend. We shared the beef and lamb gyro platter. The taziki sauce was good other then that my order was a flop. The meat was sooo greasy and full of gristle I couldn't really eat it and the fries were cold and soggy. Also "Greek fries" we assumed had feta on them but we're literally just fries. They called after our order to let us know the dessert we ordered was out so they substituted us for rice pudding. Dirty, bad service, and they give your lunch on plastic plates. I would say serve your lunch, however no one waited on us, we had get our lunch ourselves form the counter. No one asked about drinks, and my lunch came 5 minutes before my friends. I am so turned off. I'm not sure what happen to the nice, friendly, and clean guy that use to run Yasuo, but what a shame. This restaurant was very disappointing. I've eaten Greek food many times in Astoria, NY and in NJ but the Greek salad was not worth the pricing. I dined in and ordered a medium salad with shrimp added and it did not fill me up. I left feeling hungry. The salad was small served on a tray. What? Serve it in a bowl. Shredded lettuce, small pieces of tomatoes and cucumber with a sprinkle of feta cheese, few olives and small pieces of pita. I've eaten Greek salads in other places where I have to take some of it home for the same price $ 18 -20. There ia a better Greek restaurant in Northvale. More food for your money. Best freakin falafel!! They are unique, moist n savory, crispy on the outside, and super flavorful. The spices n herbs they use are amazing, and this is coming from a spice fiend n ethnic food junkie. With the exception of those amazing Egyptian falafel places in the city, or those Halal food carts (bc they know how to throw down...) Yasou Mykonos, a tiny Greek taverna in sleepy northern Bergen County, is one of the best hidden gems for Mediterranean food, and for more reasons than one! read more

We placed a big order with this place and really have nothing good to say, other than the people working there were nice. The beef kabobs were very "meh" and the meat they used tasted processed or tenderize. It just wasn't good. The baklava was burned. It looked okay, but the bottom was burned and tasted it so it was inedible. Their Greek salad wasn't great and the meat on top was very processed tasting. And they charge 0.75 for a pita. A Greek restaurant that has a menu tat says "pita not included" next to almost every item? That should have been the first hint. And this place is not cheap. read more

Called for delivery and I was so impressed on how they are handling delivery services now. The food was delivered hot and fresh. The driver put the food on the stoop, rang the bell, and waited back at his car for me to answer the door. It was more comforting seeing he had gloves and taking all precautions necessary. After years of driving by and wanting to stop in...I was finally able to stop in last night. While the food, ambiance and our server (Ian) was on-point; the manager (or the man who appeared to play the part) was dismissive and rude. We walked in to a half empty restaurant, but had multiple carry-out orders obviously taking their attention. After sitting for about 10 minutes without any service, I approached the "manager" and asked if given their current orders/tables this wasn't a good night to try the place out. He informed me that someone would be right over. After waiting another 5-10 minutes, we flagged the manager down again and asked if we could get some water and a bread basket (one of our party members is diabetic and the wait time wasn't being kind to her sugar levels). He obliged by grabbing us some pita but rudely placed it down before scurrying away. Finally, Ian came to our rescue and kindly apologized and explained they were short staffed a server. From then on his attention, the food, the overall experience was saved! Until.... The "manager" took it upon himself to come to our table to declare, "you really should have made a reservation tonight. Here are some to-go menus to you have our telephone to make a reservation for next time." So..... they're short-staffed, half empty tables... but we should've made reservations? He shares this after I personally asked if we should come back another night and after we eat and spend our money. This manager" should really reevaluate his customer skills and work on making sure a customer is happy. His inability to taken responsibility for the restaurants off-night (or whatever) shouldn't be placed on those that choose to stay - in spite of all of it. read more

I was always a big fan of the greek food at yasou in Demarest - especially their rotisserie chicken. The last time I ordered one it was beyond dry. I thought ok, it was an off night. When ordering today we asked if the chicken had come out recently because the last time the chicken was really dry. The person said the chickens were fresh and to come now so we did. D'oh! Lesson learned.). Dull, virtually flavorless chicken and gyro. And...those french fries tucked in their sandwiches....ecch (forgot to ask 'em to leave 'em out). Plus, it's no longer a true bargain. Menu prices keep inching up...and up...so check your menu version before you order. I understand the difficult marketplace, but if the product was better, maybe getting jacked price-wise would be easier to swallow (so to speak). You can do better. Next time I will. read more

Probably one of the most disgusting Greek spots I've tried. My husband and I ordered from here thinking it would be good considering the amount of good reviews it has. Instead, we were given greasy meat that had fat all over it and was not chewable. Fries were soggy and gross. The spinach pie was the only food we enjoyed. I've lived in Demarest for many years and when this place opened everyone was very excited, it's a small town and this was the only restaurant in town, more or less. The first reviews weren't very good and I for one got turned off and only ordered once from here. My friend, who owns the gas station right next to Yasou told me that their food had improved and voila he's right! *update* The condescending & rude response from the owner doesn't help, but rather solidified my decision to stay away. I work in the area & over the last 2 months I've watched them go from sm/lg salads to sm/med/lg and settle on the small ($7.50) being the size of an appetizer. I've also been charged anywhere from $3.75 to $6 for a single chicken stick... so where they landed on that, who knows now cuz I couldn't take the roller coaster anymore! There are no less than four other good, authentic Greek places in the area, they've had and will continue to have my business.* Used to be the best Greek place in the area... something has changed, new owner or something, but the prices have skyrocketed and the portions have been cut in less than half. Can't get a decent salad with chicken for less than $20 now. Sad, cuz they make good food, but they're nickel and dime'ing every little pita now. Won't be back. read more

I come here every week after my painting class. Also on occasion for dinner. They have fresh authentic Greek cuisine that is consistently delicious. They have amazing specials daily. The roasted chicken is juicy and flavorful. The Greek lemon chicken soup is the best I have had in a long time. The manager and all the wait staff are kind, friendly and generous. When you go there it feels like you're walking into a Greek café on the island of Mykonos. And what's more it is BYOB. I could go on and on about the different delicious dishes including the lamb and the gyros but I suggest you go there and try everything on the menu. You won't be disappointed. read more
