Dr. Panahy has been my primary care doctor since 2004. Her practice has grown a lot since then - last I heard, she's no longer accepting new patients. I usually have to schedule my physicals a month or two in advance, and if I'm sick and need to get seen that day, I almost always have to settle for someone else in the practice. I usually don't have to wait long to be seen, and the practice seems to run fairly efficiently, aside from a recent frustration in getting a prescription refill.
I find my annual checkups very helpful. Maybe it's just that I'm not trying to swaddle myself in a paper jacket and wrap - they usually give me a cloth gown. The office seems to schedule at least 30 minutes for annual checkups. Dr. Panahy is thorough, easy to talk to, and never seems rushed. She takes time to explain things, is well-informed, and is gentle during exams. She's been flexible with writing referrals, prescriptions for nonessential stuff like allergy meds and daily vitamins, and refilling prescriptions from specialists.
The followup is fairly standard. If my labwork is normal, I get a letter in two weeks or so telling me the results. Dr. Panahy does call to discuss abnormalities.
I haven't seen Dr. Panahy for any acute conditions, so I don't have a good feel for how she does with diagnosis. The other physicians in the office are okay. read more
