I would prefer to give 2.5 stars. The really bad: The lab tech today took out their frustration with their job *on me* by jabbing me quite hard and deep with the needle for my bloodwork. I've had blood drawn by this particular tech in the past so I know this person is capable of doing it professionally. I've also had blood drawn about a dozen times in the past 3 years by 8 or 9 different lab techs, and I have not once had an issue. I will never return to this lab and I encourage people to stay away. The bad: The office staff are good, but the overall environment is poor (long waits). The good: my doctor is really good and I will return to see her. read more

I've been going to this practice for years and have seen many of the doctors. The doctors have been okay to good, but the office staff is ridiculous. Impossible to get a straight answer out of any of them, and don't bother trying to talk to someone on the phone-- you will get bounced from hold to hold. Ready to give up on this practice... 6/30/17-- updating my review. Finally pulled the plug on this place. It's impossible to get an appointment, the receptionists are awful. I finally asked to speak to a supervisor, who of course did not pick up nor return my message. I've been doing almost all of my appointments at urgent care because I can't get in here. Avoid Dr Jasmine at all costs, unless you want to be told that she "doesn't know what to do" in regards to your serious health concerns. I made an appointment for a follow up from bilateral pneumonia diagnosed in an ER in LA. Finished the antibiotics and wanted to make sure I was well on the road to recovery. The nurse had me gown up and wait on the table, assuring me that the doctor would take care of me, but Dr Jasmine waltzed in and insisted that she didn't need to examine me. Um, really? Pretty sure that double pneumonia warrants at least a quick gander. WTF? To sum it up, it was clear she considered me a major hassle, she didn't like the course of treatment I was given (not my choice), said she didn't know what to do to make me feel better, and was overall unhelpful and unpleasant. She gave me a couple of medications and told me to come back in 8 weeks for a chest Xray, but refused to give me the referral for that. What a waste of my copayment, seriously, better of coughing at home. I will not be seeing her again. The rest of the staff was better, but either extremely annoyed by Dr Jasmine, or by me, but I'll put my money on Dr. Jasmine. Overall, horrible. read more

I started coming to see Dr. Edge in 1991 and loved her. When she retired, I was transferred (without being asked) to Dr. Jasmin, who I grew to love as well. In May, I got a letter announcing that Dr. Jasmin was leaving that listed other doctors in the office who were accepting new patients. Dr. Jasmin recommended Dr. Robin Davis. Dr, Davis was just okay, but I had an appointment with her for my annual exam in September. A couple of weeks ago I called to make an appointment with her for a separate issue and was told she was going to be at the 19th street office and given a number to that office. I called them and they said she didn't start there until November. Then I got a letter saying that she left and to make my September appointment with someone else. Today, I called and after being told there was one patient ahead of me, I was placed on hold and then the phone picked up and rang for 5 minutes before I hung up. I called back and the phone rang and rang, so I hung up. I called back and was placed on hold and then the phone picked up and rang and rang. Finally I got someone and was told that they didn't have any appointments until September. I explained that I had been to urgent care for an issue and needed to follow up and reschedule my September appointment. I was placed on hold and then she came back and told me to call at 8AM of the morning I wanted to be seen to schedule a same-day appointment or go to Med Star's urgent care. I explained that I didn't want to go back to urgent care as the problem still persisted. Finally after being put on hold again, I was asked to verify my name and address and telephone number. *le sigh* The staff here has slowly gone down hill and as soon as I find a doctor I like, I am out. read more

Not sure if I can give no stars, would if I could. I saw Dr. Osborn here, and she was good, but she left, and so did I due to the next physician that I saw, Dr. Farah Martine Jasmin. I've never been treated with such little respect or consideration by a health professional, I burst into tears during the appointment and afterwards. I don't want to go to into detail, but I have reported her for misconduct. Additionally, the staff loudly critiqued me and shut the glass barrier in order to do so. It's not sound-proof. The entire waiting room was able to hear personal details about me. It's beyond unprofessional, it was downright shaming and hurtful. I never write these reviews, but I had to in this case. I have been going to this practice for 15 years. The front office staff might be the worst I have ever seen anywhere. Rude, arrogant, and not helpful at all. It's like they are protecting their Doctor's precious time and not helping their patients. I used to go to Dr Basch who I really liked but he was always canceling for some conference or another. Have been to several others who are no longer there for one reason or another. Now I have Doctor Brooks who is OK, but always seems hurried. Recently went to Dr. Anna Zamskaya (because Brooks was out on vacation) and she seemed baffled by my symptoms and unwilling to have tests performed. When she finally did, I started to feel better so I never went back. This is really a 1 or 2 star operation. There has to be better in Washington, DC. There really does. THE OFFICE STAFF: I have been going to this practice for years. In the past couple of years, the office staff has improved dramatically. All the criticisms I read were spot-on. However, in recent years, there has been a great improvement. Staff is far more courteous and respectful. So, if you have been discouraged by the staff ratings, please give them another try. MY DOCTOR: My doctor is Anna Zamskaya. Contrary to some of the ratings I've read on this site, she is kind and respectful. However, be forewarned, she will treat you like an adult. She expects you to follow her advice and she isn't shy about describing the consequences if you fail to follow-through. She may suggest that you do some independent research - it is your body after all. She will listen patiently to your complaints and she will explain things in as much detail as you want. She will not, however, patronize you and she isn't terribly sympathetic about self-inflicted ailments. So, pick Dr. Zamskaya if you are able to take constructive criticism. PS. I generally schedule my appointments so that I am fist, or nearly first, in the morning. I have NEVER waited more than 15 minutes, even back in the days when the staff was less professional. read more

I am leaving this practice. I lived my Drs. Davis and Brooks but this place has completely gone downhill. The staff is absolutely horrid. And that's not an exaggeration. They are lazy, rude, disrespectful and have no place assisting people who need medical attention. The last straw was when I requested MY Medical Records well in advance for a renowned researcher linking my daughter and I to something genetic. They never made it to NIH in time for the well-in-advance-very-hard-to-get-appointment even call after call. We were hung-up on, yelled at, lied to, etc. They are such an embarrassment to the medical community, Eastern Market neighborhood where I have been residing 25 years, and should be ashamed of themselves. read more

My doctor for 10 plus years was dr. Panahy and because she was so great ... I put up the the great incompente of the front desk and administration I saw Dr. Zamskaya and neither my husband or I liked her. The administrator however, rescheduled us with Dr. Sener who is great, takes the time to listen and seems to care. The front desk is so so...hit or miss. Is it possible to give a ZERO STAR review? AVOID this office at all costs. You will find it easier to reach the president's personal doctor for an appointment than this office. I have tried calling multiple times to reach my provider and cannot get through. When I get put on hold, it has been for as long as a half-hour (I reached the office by car before someone answered the phone). Even when I select the option for "physician or emergency room" on the call menu, no one answers. Dr. Geloo is a fine provider, but were I actually sick (instead of just wanting to schedule an annual physical), I would probably have an easier time going to the emergency room than being seen in this office. I'll start by saying I love my Doctor, Dr. Panuvic. I followed her from her previous employer and she is great. BUT this practice is pathetic. They need to change the way they operate their front desk staff and appointment schedule. This is the second time I called with an illness which I really needed to be seen and get on antibiotics (bronchitis and now tonsillitis) and was told I couldn't get an appointment with my doctor for two days. That is inexcusable. I was told if I'm that sick I should just go to urgent care. What the heck is the point of having a primary care doctor if you are just going to tell me to go to urgent care every time I'm sick!?!?!?!?! I think I'll be looking for a new practice. I've been a patient here for almost 5 years. During that time, i know of 3 doctors who have left, two were mine. Basically, it feels like a pretty transitional place for doctors until they go do bigger and better things. There are some "Best of the Best" featured doctors here, but they are usually not expecting new patients. Instead to start with yet another new doctor i've been assigned to, I'm really thinking of changing to a more stable place so i can get consistent care with the same doctor. read more

2.5 stars. This place is good if you're pretty healthy, and just need preventative check ups/physicals every year. Sometimes I've had issues getting them to refill my prescriptions, but other times they have been very responsive when I tried to refill a prescription. I've been seeing Dr. Davis since 2007. She is friendly but I'm not sure I totally *trust* her, but then again I haven't had to go to the doctor for anything other than physicals, so I haven't had a ton of experience with her. I've waited two months to get an appointment, which doesn't bother me, but if you don't like waiting then this might not be the place. read more

I agree that the office staff is not to helpful. It takes a long time to get calls returned and the front and the back don't coordinate. It's also really hard to get appointments. I once went on an emergency visit when I had an infected cut from an accident. I got my tetanus shot and asked if the doctor was going to see me. They said no. So I left and no one told me they had filled a script for antibiotics. So I had to call, wait all afternoon for a reply call, and the assistant told me they had filled a script. But it was too late to pick it up since the pharmacy had closed. Nice. Dr. Osborne was my doctor. She was nice, but I never felt like she remembered my history from one visit to the next. read more

I like my physician but, I growl every time I have to call the office. The last time when the voice messaging system picked up it was 15 minutes before a real person got on the line -- can you believe that? On another occasion I both faxed AND stopped by the office and hand delivered something for my doctor and asked that she call me. But she never did and after a week I called her -- the staff was not helpful until I made a nuisance of myself and it took 2 calls to get her. When she finally called back she could not find my messages and had to call me back later. And remember this is just the latest incident in a series of problems I've had. I've been a patient at this practice since 1996. The changes over the last few years have been absolutely ridiculous. Absolutely forget about getting in to see a doctor in less than a month. When I had pneumonia I could only get into urgent care. The lines and the waits are awful. I've been going in once per year to get prescriptions renewed because that's all they can seem to manage. They will not give me a short-term refill on a medication that I'm taking, and of course I cannot get an appointment for a month. Worst is that they will not, or cannot, tell me if there are any adverse side effects to stopping the medication cold. Waytogo! Imagine if you took the people hanging around the Greyhound Bus station at 3 in the morning and put them behind a desk and had them answer phones. This is a hard review to write. I have been a patient for the Eastern Market Washington Primary Care for over a decade. I used to like my doctors. But everything else about this office is problematic. 1) You need to call in for scheduling an appointment, leaving a voicemail for your doctor's nurse, or for any purpose? Grab some popcorn and get ready to listen to 10 minutes or more of hold music before anyone answers. Then you might get treated to more hold music while you get transferred to someone who can assist you. It takes 30 minutes or more to accomplish the most basic tasks. 2) It is impossible to see the doctors at this location anymore. I tried to make an appointment with my doctor regarding sinus issues/infections and there was no availability for 2 months. Instead, they try to push you over to the urgent care center. What is the point of having a primary care doctor if you can never see your doctor except once a year for your annual check up? 3) You may get lucky and can see a doctor sooner, but never your primary care doctor. However, I feel like the new attitude is get your patients in and out in 10 minutes or less. I met with one of the doctors and explained my symptoms. Once I was done, the doctor looked at me and said 'What do you want me to tell you?' Total disinterest. Ultimately, he just wanted to write a prescription and get me out of the office because I was the last appointment of the day. 4) If you have lab tests done, get ready for an endless hassle getting those results back. The nurse called and left me a voicemail saying that my results were in and that I needed to call the office to get my results. Well, as noted in (1), calling in is terrible. And then you are playing phone tag trying to reach the nurse or doctor to get your results. And no one else in the office is authorized to give you the results. They also champion their online patient portal, but they themselves hardly use it and the portal itself is a pain to navigate. I've begun my search for a new primary care office. read more

I have been a patient at Washington Primary Care Physicians (WPCP) for at least 25 years. The medical care and customer service have both declined a great deal over the years. As far as I can see, these changes are based mostly on a shift to a more corporate culture that has diminished the focus on health care. Most, recently, the corporation reduced the number of physicians at this location from seven to three. Formerly, I had a dr who was familiar with my file and health issues, even when there was turnover within the practice. With the way that the drs now have to rush people through, this is no longer the case. This really affects my satisfaction a great deal--it is more like an assembly line. I was extremely disappointed with my experience this week. I had an appt for 11/17/15. My primary care physician, Dr. Anna Zamskya, was on extended leave, so I WPCP sent me to Dr. Geloo. She sent me for an x-ray. I went to a walk-in x-ray clinic that day and left with a disc with the results. Before leaving her office, I asked for an appt to discuss the results with Dr. Geloo. I was told that she could not meet with me for more than 3 weeks (Dec 11). I called after the x-ray and asked if I could meet with another dr to discuss my situation, letting the front desk staff know that I was in pain & had the disc with me. The person who answered the phone said that WPCP did not have the software to read to the report on the disc, which I found strange, since I went to the place that they recommended. After asking for an appt with any dr. in the practice, she said that she had a cancellation today, but that I had to get a written report from the x-ray center, since they had not received the report. When I called the x-ray center, they informed me that they had sent the written report the day after my appt (11/18). They agreed to send it again. When I called to see if Washington Primary Care had received the report, the front desk staff said that Dr. Geloo had examined the report within the previous 30 mins, and that the dr advised that I not come back until after I go to physical therapy. The front desk staffer said that I would receive a letter (at some point) with this advice. She then said that I should cancel the appt today since the other dr "would just tell me the same thing anyway." The staff was rude and arrogant. I asked to discuss my x-ray with a physician and was told that I should accept a phone-answerer's reading of a message instead. This was not acceptable at all. I do not want to change practice groups after all these years, but I will certainly consider moving if WPCP continues this way. read more

There is NOTHING more disturbing than to find a GOOD Doctor then they leave the practice with no forwarding information. I hate that Dr. Jasmine is gone and nobody seems to know where she is or if she's still practicing and I'm not familiar with any of the other physicians in this office except for one of the male doctors. I had to see him one other time because Dr. Jasmine was not in and I was not at all pleased with it. I just wish I could find a good Primary Care Physician. #Frustrated read more

I totally agree with all those who said they were unsure about Dr. Davis! I think the reception is not fabulous, but they have always been good at getting me in when I need to be seen. However, when my (now) husband said Dr. Davis told him it was fine to smoke a few cigarettes a day, I couldn't believe it!! He was trying to quit! It just doesn't seem to me that she's ever given me any medical advice that I didn't or couldn't figure out for myself. read more

This place is the worst I have even been before. I am not sure if the doctors even know what kind of unprofessional and inhumane people work there who take the calls and deal with clients. They talk and don't listen. The doctor was very compassionate. It's the staff who are just pathetic. I feel compassion for these inhumane people who have no clue what the patient might be feeling. Just bunch of narcissistic people who have some kind of personality disorder. Really God have mercy on these patients including me who went to this pathetic place. I have never experienced any thing like that. I volunteer as prisons and even prison officers are more humane and compassionate towards the inmates. I don't know what life course experiences have shaped their attitude. But it has to be really bad and tragic otherwise they would be totally different people. read more

Dr. Zamskaya had me wait and hour and a half and was completely belittling. She surprised me by telling me I was pregnant and that I should "google what I can and cannot do now." My doctor is Rodney Brooks, and I'd have to say he does the job pretty well. I've gone to him twice now and each time I've had no issues. The first time was for a sports injury, in which he listened to me explain my problem (which i'm sure can be a cumbersome process) and directed me to take an MRI and then referred me to a specialist. The second time (in which i visited him today) I had another sports injury. This time I messed up my heel pretty badly and he sent me to get an X-ray asap. All in all he's a nice guy and I would recommend him. The staff there is hit or miss though. Some receptionists won't look at you and try to brush you off, others will try to help you while talking about what hair style would look good on their girlfriends on the phone at the same time, and others are relatively pleasant. read more

Haven't been yet, but at one time or another I've seen a number of these doctors. While I have never written a review of any product or doctor, the horrible experience that I had with WPCP and specifically Dr. Martine F. Jasmin prompted to me to share my story. I second sara t.'s comment to avoid this doctor at all costs, and encourage you to find a different practice entirely. WPCP was recommended to me by a friend who sees Dr. Basch, who seems to be well mannered and competent. However, when I called for a new patient physical and to get lab tests for a status update on a fairly serious condition, I was offered an appointment with Dr. Jasmin. Realizing the urgency of this appointment, I reluctantly accepted. BIG MISTAKE! When I arrived 10 minutes early for my 11 AM appointment, I had no idea what I was in store for. After 45 minutes of waiting, I asked the front desk staff how much longer the wait would be, and I was assured that the doctor would be available soon. Little did I know that it would be 12:40 PM before I was even taken back! Had the appointment not been so urgent, I probably would have left. Still, I waited another half hour for Dr. Jasmin to even come to the exam room. After she did walk into the exam room, she nonchalantly apologized by explaining that they were short staffed, but that she was missing her lunch break to take my appointment. I avoided commenting on the fact that I was now out of the office for two hours just waiting to be seen by her! Then she explained that she couldn't run any lab tests because I was only scheduled for a new patient consultation and not a physical, and that I would have to come back in 1-2 months to discuss any medical issues. I very firmly objected and was able to have my blood drawn, but not before Dr. Jasmin told me that "we didn't mesh well" and that "given the doctor-patient relationship is so important, you should select a different doctor in the practice the next time you come back." As if I'd ever return! To top it all off, the doctor sat on my lab results for two weeks, ignoring two phone calls and an email from me trying to find out the sensitive results. As it turns out, when she finally did call, she had absolutely no intention of calling me to give me my results, and THEN gave me a hard time when I requested she release the results to another doctor! Very long story short, her license should be revoked and she should not be permitted to practice medicine. It is one thing not get along well with others, but it is a completely different story when you compromise a patients health. read more

I see Dr. Zamskaya and I generally like her. She is patient and has good bedside manners. I don't feel rushed when I talk to her and she addresses my concerns. I am giving this office two stars for the staff at the front desk. They are obviously just there to make it through another day and go home as quickly as possible. There is no personality even a "hello" greeting when you arrive - just robots asking for your insurance card, confirming your address, and taking your payment. They seem miserable. And why do they need to read your address and phone number in front of the entire waiting room? Can't they give you a form to review and update? This is personal info. This office needs to "clear the decks" and replace all of these admin people. This is the service industry, and people are paying a lot for these appointments. I mean, look at the reviews below. It's not just me. I will say that the Assistants - the ones who lead you to your waiting room - are really nice- they are not to be grouped with the front desk staff. read more

I agree with the majority here in that the office staff seemingly tries to be unhelpful. My issues center mostly around prescription pick-ups, which should not warrant the mass confusion and multiple trips for my husband or I to and from the office that has been the standard procedure in over years of working with them. Our experience has been that for every prescription refill (and I only have ONE) there are at least 3-4 phone calls to verify/confirm that it is ready for pick up, either my husband or I leaving work early to go pick it up before their office closes, only to be told that they "can't find it" and we need to repeat the process over again the same week. The lack of organization and communication never ceases to amaze me. Furthermore--the general attitude of the desk staff every time this happens borders on downright rude and is routinely dismissive and unapologetic. Our doctors have been fine here, but the day-to-day experiences working with the staff just doesn't justify remaining a patient here. read more

Wow!! Reading all of the reviews so far, I never realized just how lucky I am, or was, since my doctor at this practice is due to retire Dec. of 2013. I've only had one physician for over 30 years here and he is Dr. Daniel Waterman. A more caring and competent physician you'll never find! I can honestly say that I regard him not just as my doctor, but also a trusted friend. Not only does he take the time to listen, he explains everything, every aspect of your care, in "understandable" language. I've seen two other doctors here on emergency basis--Drs. Davis and Basch; was not too impressed with either. Dr. Waterman has also been excellent when ordering x-rays or other tests and always provides copies or explanations of test results. I started bringing my father to him years ago and Dr. Waterman would inform me of my father's test results as well. As I indicated, Dr. Waterman will be retiring end of this year. My reason for being on 'Yelp', of course, is to attempt to find a replacement physician (at this practice). From the reviews, I have a good idea of whom NOT to choose! However, I seriously doubt if any will be able to duplicate the "doctor-patient" relationship I've enjoyed for so many years with Dr. Waterman. I agree. The front staff, at times, does seem a bit rude, inconsiderate, and mistake-prone. Dr. Waterman once referred me to a dermatologist. The referral was to be picked up next day. Three days later I was given a referral, in an envelope with my name on it, written for a lady for a colonoscopy! An application for driver's license renewal was dropped off with the nurse; a week later, when I called to inquire about it, I was told they couldn't find it! As so many of you have said, you have abided the vagaries of the front desk in favor of the convenience of the location. That, too, shall be my main reason for staying with this practice. I've been going to this practice for 20 years. The positives: Dr. Anna Zamskaya is my PCP, but, sadly, I just learned she is leaving. She is a no-nonsense doctor who gives her advice directly. Every year for my annual physical, she reviewed my prescriptions, history, and asked if I had any current concerns. She does not have a smiley, happy personality, but she listens and is efficient and caring. I never felt rushed during her exams. Before Dr. Zamskaya, I saw Dr. Panahy who was also good, but she left the practice a few years ago. The nurse manager, Tonya, I believe, is a sweetheart and very responsive. If I have difficulty with anything, she gets it done. The nurses are nice and professional. The negatives: This is a *very busy* primary care office. In the last couple of years, I have experienced longer wait times and increased difficulty getting last-minute sick appointments with my PCP. It's hard to tell if the problem is due to MedStar taking over the practice, the shortage and turnover of internists, or increased patient loads due to Obamacare. It's probably due to all of the above. For a sick appointment one time, I saw Dr. Brooks who ran 40 minutes late and was dismissive of my symptoms and incredibly harsh and rude. He has left the practice. The neutrals: Most of the office staff are not overtly nice but also not overtly mean. I've only found one receptionist to be outright rude, and she no longer works there. They are busy but they work quickly. Have your ID, insurance card, and anything else they need, and it will make things a lot easier and quicker for you and the staff. Basically, I will continue going to this practice.because (1) I have liked my PCP's and the nurses, and I feel I get good health care there; (2) I have rarely had a problem getting a refill, referral, or message to my PCP; and, (3) it is convenient to home, and I always find street parking pretty quickly. read more

I went to see Dr. Jasmin for the first time today, and I am not sure what she did to warrant all the negative comments! She was nice enough and friendly with me. I had a couple of strange things to talk about and she provided with with answers and prescriptions. I've been having difficult find a doctor in DC for a while and I will definitely be back, relieved to finally have a primary care physician. The reception area was quite nice and polite with me, and while I was there, actually went out of their way to help someone who was not scheduled but really needed to be seen. It's a younger office, in terms of those who work there, so they can get a little loud when joking with their coworkers, but nothing inappropriate. I have been a patient of Dr. Waterman for many years the care that I received was absolutely amazing. Now that he retired I decided to start a new relationship with another doctor in his office. The front desk staff is amazing but Dr Martine Jasmine was the worst experience I have ever had with a physician. She never made eye contact with me and if I did not put my hand out to properly introduce myself she would not have done so and even when she did she barely touched my hand. I am not use to service of this magnitude from anyone at this office but I personally know that I will never go to her again. PS. Once again I have one star because the staff was amazing but not Dr. Jasmine. read more

I have been going to this practice since 2009. Somehow, it just keeps getting worse. The front office staff is absolutely horrible. The doctors should be ashamed that they employ such useless people. You call to try to make an appointment and they are rude to you and then put you on an endless hold until you just give up. I wish zero stars was an option. read more
