So glad I stopped by this little Syrian pastry shop for a try. Boy, was I blown away by their awesome hospitality, smiles and their insistance to try mostly anything your heart would desire? This is what I'm talking about! Smiles, warm, friendly and welcoming attitudes with an aim to please service. Surely this kind of treatment puts any customer at ease who will come back for sure. Well, you gotta have very good products too.... They do, they do. Don't worry :)
Yasmin Alcham or rather Sham means Damascus' Jasmin in Arabic. They opened up their doors about two weeks ago offering the classic Syrian or more specifically Damascus mini size baklavas and other known sweets like the Barazek cookies. After trying some of the baklavas on the spot, as well as some other splendid looking sweets, I brought home a kilo and sure they were gone within two days. Yep, that's the telltale sign of a good quality grub in my house. The faster the food disappears, the tastier it is.
Besides the sweets, they sell stuffed appetizers which I tried and bought a few dozens. Amongst the few selections, the spinach/cheese only with sesames on the outside were the stars. Again, it's something personal. You have to try to choose your own favourite stars. Also worth mentioning, they have a catering service offering some of the labour intensive Syrian dishes. Inquire within.
As for the cleanliness, very clean and well
maintained. Compact but bursting with varieties and screaming first quality.
Conclusion, it's a gem! I sure definitely will be a frequent customer here, frequent to the point of not being close friends with diabetes I hope. Seriously, they have some stuff that gets you hooked easily.
I wish them success in their new venture and hope they will keep the smile while offering first quality food without cutting corners. Bon chance!! read more
