Stumbled upon this bakery and wasn't disappointed…read more I ordered the half zaatar/half cheese manoushe and it was pretty big, fresh, and tasty. There's an option to add veggies, but I decided to have it as is. I also tried the lahmajoun, which was full of flavor and really filling. There are a few tables for dining in, as well as some imported grocery items available. There can be a bit of a wait for your order, but I honestly don't mind since the manoushes are made fresh to order.

Discovered this humble place a few years ago upon a suggestion of a relative who praised them for…read morehaving one of the best zaatar pizzas in town. Went and gave them a try. Now a regular, once every other week I gotta have my zaatar fix. So the generous stars given here are for the zaatar item only as I tried their other products (except the sweets) and found them to be decent, nothing disappointing. I would pick up any other item from their menu if I'm not feeling particularly choosy that day. It'll do the trick. According to my tastebuds, they take the crown for the zaatar pizza. Delicious dough, the right thickness and size but most importantly the zaatar mix itself. That right amount of sumac and perhaps other ingredients are used which dictates my judgment for this food. A warning tho, you have to advise them not to crisp your pizzas. If you don't like them well done, just ask them not to do so or otherwise they will. Looks like it's their standard way of baking the zaatar. Not for me, I don't like my zaatar slightly burnt. I tried almost all other well known bakeries in Laval and Montreal that sell zaatar along with other similar Lebanese/Syrian specialties and the closest one that comes to Najah's zaatar is the hole in the wall Arax bakery on Samson street. A runner up worth giving a try also. As for their sweets.... hmmm, I personally don't come to these type of bakeries for sweets. It's not their main specialty so it could be a hit or miss taste experience and also, freshness will play a major role. Throughout my numerous visits there, I haven't witnessed not even once anyone ordering baklavas and this is a busy bakery, specially on weekends.

I love how the baklava is always fresh and not overly sweet. It has a lot of flavor. I'm not even going to try to name my favorites because honestly, I don't remember the names, I just recognize them visually. But overall, I've liked the majority of what I've tried. If I had to make a suggestion, I'd say skip Adonis and come here for your baklava instead. I used to order from Adonis, but when I compare the two, Al Sham is so much better. The quality at Adonis just doesn't compare. So if you're already on the hunt for baklava, just get it from here. You'll save yourself the trouble.

Cosy little bakery and deli. I've been craving Polish meat pierogis and wanted to try their out…read more.. (will update when I try them). So here they have frozen pierogis with cheese, potatoes and the meats (pork & beef) ones. It's 12 pierogis per bag for $7 which is an ok price. At the meat counter, I took the Krakowska sausage--really nice, light flavor, not salty or fatty. Great recommendation by the store keeper. My mom ordered some head cheese and although the name sounds weird, the taste isn't! She asked if she could try some and got a thin slice to try. It's delightfully garlicky, jelly and meaty all at once. It's really good so I recommend you try it! It's sliced thinly so great for a hearty sandwich. I'll be back for more! Finally there are the puffy Paczki (ponki as they call it here) and there are 4 flavors when I went: cherry, apple, cream and the traditional favorite, plum flavor which is glazed. You can lightly warm them up in a microwave or toaster over before eating. It's fresh, squishy and doughy. It's a good price for a donut--$7 will get you six.

At first, I was only expecting a bakery shop, but they had more alternatives to baked goods, such as a meat case, from which I did not order...it was 9am after all. However, I did order the ponki. If you aren't familiar with ponki, it is essentially a filled doughnut, perhaps cooked differently like in a polish style i guess, but basically the same as a doughnut. They had multiple variations, like cream or chocolate filled, and apricot or plum filled. We got a 6 pack for ~$4.50. I gotta say it was pretty good. They had about 3 chairs inside the restaurant and about 6 chairs outside the restaurant, and the staff of two were nice and helpful. They also had perogies, which I'll probably go back and try. I think i'd frequent this place if I lived in that Monkland/Sherbrooke - NDG area.

There's also a little cafe there too. Both times that I've been here, I bought the pastries. My go to buys are always the cannolis with custard and ricotta. Overall, I've enjoyed the desserts I've tried so far and am eager to go back for more.

I've been grabbing cakes from here for a while and they're always a hit!…read more The cakes are nice and moist without being too sweet, though the buttercream can be a bit much for some. I've also tried most of the pastries and they're just as good as the cakes. My favorite is the coffee éclair, it's light, airy and sweet. Honestly, I like it more than the classic éclair. The coffee flavor just takes it up a notch. The icing on top can be a little sweet on its own, but it balances out well with the whole éclair. I always grab one or two when I'm in the area. The lemon raspberry cake is another favorite. It's light with just a hint of tartness, and the poppy seeds in the cake are a nice touch. The zeppoles are perfectly light, not greasy, and just sweet enough. I've also had the vanilla and caramel cake, and it's super soft and moist. The buttercream is on the sweeter side, but it goes really well with the cake. Black forest cake is lightly sweetened and I feel like I can eat a huge slice without it being overwhelming. Overall, this bakery is awesome, with a ton of variety. They've got baked goods, sandwiches, salads, and more. Definitely worth checking out!

It was cooked perfectly. I also tried the cheese & sujuk, and it was just as good. It was made fresh to order, and what I liked most was that the cheese wasn't too salty and didn't slide off the dough, it held its shape nicely. You can order them individually in regular or large sizes and there's also an option to get a box of 6 pieces. There is indoor seating, but it's limited to about 6-7 people. They also offer sweets like baklava, which you can order as well. The service was super friendly, and overall it was a great experience. I'll definitely come back to this shop the next time I'm in the area.
