This means I have to find them elsewhere, or take the trip to Saraga Mart in Indy to find them. They lose my business this way. Others won't have my problem, but if I were to put a name on the problem, it's inventory consistency-- something that also plagues Aldi. Is it because international foods supply chains are in turmoil? I can't know. It's opaque. The answer, however, is: I'm increasingly empty handed when I walk out. Yes, I tell them what's out of stock. Hasn't done any good so far. Maybe it'll change when the world trading climate is less strange.

The milk tea (black or pink) is great - it's sweet but balanced with the strong tea, and subtly spiced for a very smooth flavour. I also really liked their take on lavender matcha latte. The lavender syrup is made from real lavender and naturally coloured with butterfly pea flower. The resulting drink is fragrant and not too sweet. The owner also sometimes makes or brings in different baked goods (cakes, cookies, breads, etc.) and they're always fantastic. As I talked about in my previous review, said owner is very kind and seems to be putting a lot of thought into creating a welcoming space and balanced menu. There's no place like this in Bloomington and I'm really happy to have it around!

What I bought: A pint of cherry tomatoes for $5.00. I have not eaten them yet, but they are beautiful and of various colors. A single medium size tomato for $3.00. Three peaches for two dollars. Two of them were completely bland and had to be thrown away. They had no peach flavor at all. All three had bad spots. So I had about one half of a peach for two dollars. 8 ounces of lemonade for $3.25. This felt like a rip off, but I needed a cold drink on a hot day. Two cute little pears for $1.48. This ended up being the best buy. they were perfectly delicious. Very little of what is sold here is organic, which seems to be a statewide problem for grocery stores and farmer's markets in Indiana. The refrigerator had a badly rotten peach and an open can of cat food on the bottom shelf, which gave me serious concerns about the hygiene of this place, as if someone is not paying attention to detail when it comes to cleaning and maintenance.

One such activity is visiting apple orchards and sampling the many varieties of apples and apple adjacent treats. On a sunny fall day, after visiting I.U., I traveled a little bit out to Slaughter and was greeted warmly by the proprietor. I learned that they were the parents of the owners and were looking after the place for a bit. Upon entering the farm market, I was presented with wonderful displays of apples, ciders, apple butter, and of course, cider donuts. Samples were offered up on many of their wares, and was able to taste one of their unique apple varieties as well as one of their hard ciders. Of course, I left with several bags worth of goodies as well as an amazing experience. Will look forward to a return visit next time I'm in the area.

We picked up a couple to try and they were bursting with flavor. They did seem to be a bit pricey at $3 per candy. The shop is currently running a 10% off sale on the candies to celebrate their birthday. In addition, they sell an other assorted food products that originate in Indiana. The selection would make a perfect gift basket. The clerk was friendly and helpful. Checkout was easy. There is plenty of parking in the shared strip mall lot. The entrance is accessible.

He darted to the back to get his enigmatic edible concoction. I'm learning that, in general, in life, saying yes to new things is usually the correct answer. The man came back out carrying a tiny Dixie cup with a sample of raspberry balsamic vinegar and Meyer lemon olive oil. "Swirl it around and drink it down like a shot!" The man said. "It tastes like the most delicious salad you've ever tasted!" And wouldn't you know: the man was right! It turns out, homeboy used to work in a restaurant, and he loves to cook, too. As I was tasting the vinegary oil, homie told me about the origins of the vinegar and oil I was tasting, what proportions to use to make a vinaigrette, and how else I could use them (balsamic vinegar in a cocktail!). I ended up buying a bottle each of the raspberry balsamic vinegar and Meyer lemon olive oil, and both have been probably my best purchases of 2025. All this to say: The customer service at The Wild Olive is exemplary. The people -- or more particular, this dude I encountered -- love food and have lots of recommendations for how to use the oils and vinegars in food and while cooking and baking. You can also ask to taste any of the oils or vinegars in the shop. As many as you want! When you find one that you like, there are two different sized bottles to choose from: 250 ml and 500 ml. The variety of oil and vinegar at The Wild Olive is amazing, so you'll probably want to taste some before you commit. There is also a section with gourmet goods, like pasta, tapenade, flavored salts, tinned fish and nuts. Plus, a refrigerated section with salami and cold San Pellegrino. When I run out of my olive oil and vinegar, I will be making a trip back to Nashville to hit up The Wild Olive again. This is now one of my favorite shops in central Indiana.

I've been to olive oil shops like this in other touristy areas and they've had the bread available to the customer next to the dispensers for self-service. This was pre-covid, so I'm sure bread wasn't readily available during this visit to cut down on contamination. I get that, but it personally deterred me from sampling. I didn't want to bother the shop owners every time I wanted something - which would have been a lot. :) I think the prices were around $16-$20 per bottle depending on the size. So, so many flavors from salty to savory to sweet. Unique flavors. So unique that you should definitely try them before you buy. Highly recommend!
