We worked closely with Cynthia for several months in preparation for our July 2016 wedding reception at the IU Auditorium in Bloomigton, IN. We can't say enough wonderful things about Cynthia's service and expertise. Every other caterer we spoke with in town pales in comparison to Cynthia and her staff. The food: Simply put, our wedding reception food was incredible. Every bite was full of flavor and seasoned to perfection. One thing you should know about Cynthia is that she is obsessed with maintaining the integrity of the food she is serving. Sometimes that means that certain dishes may be served at room temperature to maintain the vibrancy and flavor. Our appetizers (crostini with goat cheese and brucetta and mini potatoes with Greek yogurt) were a huge hit, along with the tri tip beef, baked pasta and fresh veggies with homemade dipping sauces. I can't forget to mention the sweet potatoes...my friends texted me the next morning mentioning how yummy they were! Service: During the cocktail hour, reception, and dance time she meticulously catered to our guests (and us!) and went above and beyond. Our consultations and email exchanges were very clear and pleasant. She created our menu on the spot, and was very receptive to our preferences wth little direction. When most caterers would have packed up and left, Cynthia's staff stayed until the bitter end serving bite sized desserts to guests far after dinner/reception had concluded. During the planning phase, we loved that Cynthia let us try tiny samplings of her food before putting in a deposit, giving us our first glimpse into her love of hosting and feeding people. Our guests raved about the food after the wedding, making our special day that much more memorable! I highly recommend Cynthia for both small and large scale events. read more

Cynthia catered our daughter's wedding. The food was FANTASTIC!!! The guests went on and on about the delicious food. The wedding cake was not only gorgeous but so delicious. Her servers were attentive and friendly...even Cynthia herself worked the event. If you want gorgeous food that is prepared by a true chef, use her!! You will not be disappointed. read more

Cynthia catered my wedding in October 2012. Not only is she an amazing cook, but she also works with you like you're a close friend. I am American and my wife is Chinese, so we sat down and talked for quite a while about what sort of dishes we wanted for the wedding and how to serve them family style, like they do in China. We exchanged cookbooks, and Cynthia even invited us to her kitchen where we were able to try a few different versions of the chicken dish and offer our own feedback. On the day of Cynthia brought herself and a team of happy, enthusiastic, and efficient staff. They were on top of things throughout the whole day, from set up to hors d'oeuvres to serving dinner to clean up. One of the dishes we made was based on a dish native to my wife's father's hometown. My wife's parents were very impressed with Cynthia's version, as well as with her lemongrass beef satay and coconut milk curry with tofu. However, the party favorite was her Schezuan style noodles, from the Chinese parents to the Kentucky and Indiana relatives, to the two-year old Milwaukee relatives! She is a true designer and there is no one else we would rather have catered our special day. Thank you, Cynthia! read more

Cynthia catered my wedding on Saturday, and as soon as I finished sending all the checks I owed people, I sat down to write a raving review for her. I'm really into food - almost obsessively - and the appetizers and dinner were absolute perfection. She was really patient with me in the tasting, and understood EXACTLY what I wanted, which was beautiful, yummy, fresh food. I've never had such an impressive experience with a caterer, and I can't recommend her highly enough. read more

Cynthia catered our wedding and it was wonderful! We had wedding in the height of summer and I had a vision for a light, Mediterranean menu full of bright flavors and lots of fresh food. Cynthia brought these ideas to life with her creative menu planning. From passed hors d'ouvres to a beautiful buffet dinner to a spread of mini desserts and a wedding cake, everything was on poin. The whole process was easy and low-stress. Cynthia helped us to coordinate rentals and decorating, going above and beyond her duties as caterer. We attend a lot of weddings and have never enjoyed a wedding meal as much as our own. We highly recommend Cynthia Moriarty catering. read more

Cynthia, by far, was the most incredible find for my daughters ever changing Covid wedding plans. We had gone from a large hotel wedding to a small dinner party of 18 at my home. Cynthia's professionalism was top-notch in every way. I live 45 minutes from Bloomington and she drove down on her own to meet with me and help with menu suggestions and get a feel for set up. I found her personable and very engaging. Cynthia gave me several options to keep everyone safe with Covid precautions. She even plated the hors d'oeuvres instead of passing them. They were exceptionally tasty. The dinner was outside and when there was a threat of potential rain that evening Cynthia on the spot offered to serve the food sooner. She put all my worries at ease with her calm demeanor. When we all sat down to eat you could audibly hear people after bites of different foods say "Oh my goodness this is the most delicious food I have ever had." It was spectacular. Cynthia also made the wedding cake and it was beautiful, delicately delicious and exactly like the picture my daughter wanted. It was a type of cake I had never heard of. It is called a naked cake and Cynthia was familiar with this new trend. Cynthia and her staff member cleared all dishes, silverware and glassware from the tables and washed and dried them all. I even asked a couple of my family members after Cynthia left to go look at how clean she left the kitchen. I emphatically recommend Cynthia for any culinary occasion you might have. I am desperately trying to figure out a reason to use her services in the future! read more

I hired Cynthia Moriarty to cater my wedding in Brown County State Park. I had interviewed six different caterers and Cynthia ended up sharing the same outlooks on food. I knew right away that she was going to be the caterer for us. She was an utter joy to work with throughout the entire process. She listened to our ideas and found us a variety of delicious and creative options to fit our budget. The food turned out spectacular and was completely customized for our both our location (no kitchen) and guest list (carnivores, omnivores, vegans, and etc). The food was the topic of many conversations to be had for many nights to come. I can't recommend Cynthia enough. read more

I know the groom doesn't post wedding reviews very often but this was such a good experience I wanted too. Our first few meetings with the big caterers in town weren't what I was expecting. There wasn't much enthusiasm and they only seemed concerned with price. Most of them said we couldn't try the food until we had put down a deposit and then we would have to pay for the small portions of food we actually tried. It wasn't a terrible experience by any means it just wasn't quite what I had expected. When we met with Cynthia I could tell she was different. She had tons of appetizers and deserts for us to try but that was only a small part of it. We started brainstorming different menu options and she was genuinely excited bouncing ideas back and forth! One of my big worries in the beginning was that whoever we chose would "check out" once they had our money and just mass produce a bunch of food. We could see Cynthia was very passionate about food and would take great pride in her work which alleviated all of my concerns. As for the wedding day, the food was bright, beautiful, and most importantly delicious!! We missed out on cocktail hour because of pictures and I was heart broken because I wanted some of the delicious appetizers. Cynthia ,caring enough to notice we weren't there, had pulled aside an entire platter of them for the wedding party!! We had left over deserts and without our asking (busy hugging/thanking everyone) Cynthia had her workers get some trays and walk the deserts around to all the guests that had filtered back into the cocktail room and outside. I didn't mean for this review to be so long, in short Cynthia went above my already high hopes and I would absolutely recommend her to a friend. read more

Cynthia catered our daughter's wedding last weekend, and she and her staff did a super job. She was very friendly and easy to work with: for example, when we first talked to her, she invited my wife, my daughter, and me to her house to sample some of the food she suggested, no charge. All of the food at the wedding dinner was delicious -- not just then, but for days afterwards as we ate the leftovers! I've never been a fan of chickpeas, but I'm a fan of _Cynthia's_ spicy chickpeas. And she did everything we expected. We recommend her without reservations. read more

My partner and I had scheduled Cynthia to cater our wedding but about 3 months out we decided to cancel our reception here and move it to CA with the re-legalization of gay marriage there. She was absolutely wonderful throughout the process and so supportive and understanding about the change. I am disappointed that all of our loved ones will not get to experience Cynthia's wonderful food! It is FANTASTIC! You can tell that she loves what she does and is fabulous at meeting couples where they are at and finding dishes that match their likes. SO WONDERFUL. I can not recommend her enough and for those looking for a gay-friendly caterer, she is that and SO MUCH MORE! read more

I recently attended a wedding that was catered by Cynthia Moriarty Catering, and it was hands-down the best dining experience that I've ever had at a wedding. As a long-time vegan, I usually dread wedding meals - I almost always end up with a few wilted vegetables and a stack of eggplant. Inevitably, I end up hungry, grouchy, and confused as to why people think that all a vegan wants is a pile of unseasoned vegetables. Cynthia Moriarty, however, worked closely with my friends (the bride and groom) to make sure that I had a delicious vegan option at their wedding. "Delicious" doesn't do my meal justice - the tofu stuffed shells were full of flavor and protein, very filling, and thoughtfully prepared. My friend told Cynthia about my food preferences (no eggplant please, every meal should have protein, etc.), and my meal met every one of my criteria. The meal truly exceeded every expectation that I could have had, and I had to hold myself back from licking the plate clean. Because I choose to be vegan, I accept that meals at events like weddings are most often going to be less-than-appetizing. Cynthia Moriarty, however, has proven that that doesn't have to be the case, and I hope that other caterers will start to be as deliciously accommodating to vegans in the future. read more

Cynthia did a fabulous job at my daughter's wedding in April 2016. She met with us early and let us sample foods. She helped us select a coordinated menu. She made a delicious cake. All of the guests LOVED the food. A family member who is a sophisticated foodie from a large city told me, "Wow! I didn't know you could even get food that good in Bloomington". And another said, "Usually, with catered food, at least one dish is off, but every single dish tastes great!". All of the other vendors told us how much they love Cynthia and enjoy working with her. She met us at the venue to plan things, and she and her staff were great at the event. We couldn't be happier. read more

Cynthia catered our wedding with about 160 people. I cannot say enough good things about her amazing food! Not only was everything cooked perfectly, she was also very accommodating with local meat, gluten-free and vegetarian menus. At most weddings, people just eat the food and move on, but at our event people talked about the food for the rest of the night, and even the next day. Several people said, "I never expect wedding food to be so good! This meal was like more going to a nice restaurant!" Furthermore, Cynthia was pleasant and friendly, and I truly enjoyed not only working with her, but also just getting to know her! The best thing about having Cynthia cater was that we knew we could just hand her the reigns, let her do her thing, and have amazing food. read more

Cynthia catered our wedding in Bloomington, IN in July 2014. So why am I writing this review now, three years later? Our guests--to this day--continue to rave about the food at our wedding. When we go to other weddings with our guests, the familiar mantra is: "This food is okay/meh/dry/boring/flavorless. The food at your wedding was amazing." For months after the wedding, I was fielding recipe requests from guests. When was the last time you went to a wedding reception and thought, "I MUST have the recipe for this"? Cynthia was wonderful throughout the entire process and her staff was impeccable. The food was fresh, flavorful, inventive, healthy and absolutely perfect for the setting. We were melting during a 90+ degree day and had thankfully selected a light, Mediterranean-style menu that Cynthia helped us create. During our first meeting with Cynthia, she explained the limitations of our venue (no oven) and provided suggestions for menu options that would work well served cold or at room temperature. We were just a tad skeptical at first, but the end result was flawless. When food is cooked, cooled, reheated, warmed, served, then brought to a table (by which point it is cold again), it takes on a new character, and not necessarily a great one. We were treated to real, wholesome food (e.g., the green beans served at our wedding were picked from Cynthia's garden the day before). We could not have been more pleased with the entire experience. read more
